  1. Just for reference sake - if we have a good relationship with "China" then the sponsorship may be a Chinese Airline but not "China Airlines". China Airlines is the national airline of Taiwan.
  2. The Ford example did make me laugh. I can't understand why the town of Bundaberg gets such good sponsorship from a rum company.
  3. Kevin Dyson
  4. I think that winning games and elite compliance can be interchangeable. Elite compliance to every part of training, games plans, attitude and discipline should result in winning games.
  5. You mean the elephant in the room when NicNat had a great start to last season and Watts didn't or the elephant in the room that disappeared when Watts started putting good games together in middle part of the season and NicNat went quiet or the elephant that returned when Watts season tapered off and NicNat had a few good games at the end. Hmmm...better not mention elephants - they can be fickle
  6. One year on and the senior players will either buy into what Neeld will be doing or they will move on. Happy players don't move. So be it.
  7. If they make a good offer to Cloke he will go. I was frantically searching ( without luck) for an interview I vividly remember him doing for the papers after he re-signed last time around. It was very frank and revealing - loyalty wasnt high on his priority list. 1/ Essendon got into him big time 2/ He said players had to look after their own interests 3/ ( the most revealing comment) - In the end the difference between the Essendon and Collingwood offer was not big enough to warrant a move Unless he has had a change in thinking, if GWS throw big money at Cloke that the Pies cant get close to, he will go.
  8. Its the multiple factor. Go easy because one player made a mistake ? Do you go easy when two players are late ? How about 4 players being late ? Its not about where you stop - its about where you start and you start with one player. Zero tolerance is 100% correct.
  9. Talk like that will get you crucified on this site !
  10. I did giggle when I read the Mark Robinson interview with Goddard. Is it just me or did Goddard grab young Tom's script from his March presser and paraphrase it ? Before I get beaten to the punch by RR, I'm calling it now - Goddard signed and gorn.
  11. I'm jewish and plain evil.
  12. To re-iterate what Bing said - lots of confusion on here as to difference between the good workings and benefits of leadership and the lack of leadership talent we have previously had to fill the group.
  13. This argument keeps raising it head- "we should known". Every single expert had Scully going number one twelve months prior to the draft and nothing changed. I dont believe any club would have passed up Scully at number one. To level the accusation that the MFC got it wrong is putting on the retrospective glasses to the extreme. Happy to hear anyone say "in hindsight we got it wrong" but to say we didnt do our homework is plain wrong. Maybe if we do want to learn something from all club previous drafting then we should steer away from any interstate draftees because of the go home factor (sorry JT). Makes it difficult for GWS and GC to draft anyone. Stick to local boys who barracked for MFC growing up. Wait Juddy was coming home and barracked for the Dees growing and didnt come back to us. Maybe we should just pass on draft picks - too risky that they may want to leave.
  14. If that works then it will be a big win. I dont think anyone doubts his application, ferocity or courage. Its the end result of his great work that can bring him undone. Edit - as an aside - Chris Pelchin's blueprint for Hawthorns recruiting was simple - criteria one- anyone recruited had to be a good disposer of the ball by hand and foot. If you didnt get past the first criteria you werent recruited.
  15. I think we need to distinguish between poor disposal and momentum killers. Its not just about kicking efficiency - it is about when you turn it over, where you turn it over and under what circumstances Some of Clints disposals have been at the end of good movement to get into reasonable goal kicking position to have him miss an easy shot - again it may have only been limited times during the year but it kills team momentum. Miskicking a pass into a static, overcrowded forward line is different from bursting through the centre with everything opening up in front of you only to kick it to the only opposition player within cooee of your team mates. One is bad disposal - the other is a momentum killer.
  16. This is quite the conundrum. Your example re Gysberts is spot on and there was a game at Etihad last year were twice he ran hard into the forward line to make space and have a shot at goal and sprayed both shots - momentum and team spirit killers. Its almost like he needs to be told not to do the 100% right thing by creating an option that forces him to dispose of the footy over any distance. Or tell him to continue to run and spread but tell the rest of the team to ignore him ! I love the things he does well and in equal measure ugghhh on some of decision and foot skills. There arent may footballers who have whati consider major weaknesses who can play only to their strengths. Sam Mitchell is one - he is excellent by hand and a good kick under 25 metres. Nine times out of ten he will butcher the ball over a longer distance. Watch him closely - he now rarely if ever tries to kick long.
  17. He was ultra hard at it and got where the ball always was in the year he won the brownlow - getting himself concussed on more than one occasion. Not quick but skillful and a good mark for his size. If my dodgy memory serves me right he moved out of his favoured centre position to make for a very talented Chris Connelly and placed on the HFF where he had a bit of success early on but he drifted from being a hard working gather of the ball and became a bit showy and lairy and was lastly offtraded to the Saints.
  18. Fact ? hmmm.....Dont't let Energy Watch hear you say we have no major sponsor. Apparently they have tipped in $6M over 3 years thinking that they may be a joint major sponsor. But did lets facts get in the way of a good rant. We are looking for a second major sposnor -I would fire CS and hire Harry Potter - - expelliarmus sponsor
  19. I keep harping on Nathan Jones - I am not a huge fan of his "ability" - but what i do love is his "never throw the towel in" attitude. You can walk off the ground with your head bent but not at 5 minute minute mark of the last quarter.
  20. I must admit i had a bit of a giggle at the "GFC doesnt inhibit the ability to get a sponsor". We obviously havent been shaking the money tree hard enough.
  21. We sat at VFL park for an hour after the game - speechless..not one word uttered. I was totally gutted. I was in a black mood for a week. Eishold's effort was actually comical.
  22. I remember most fo the year and I remember (actually heard !) the Lyon broken leg. But a question due to my fading memory - what was Lyon like at that time ? had he already "arriveed" ?
  23. And with the cattle he had to play with !!! Not trying to poo-poo the team of the time but he got the best out of some average footballers. Makes his effort even better.
  24. Correct - hence the other exitings from the leadership group. And the reason why Trengove was made co-captain and Nathan Jones was retained.
  25. Wouldnt surprise if he did help Neeld in a mentoring role - Similar to how Matthews helped Bailey..ohh..wait....
