I also hold very bitter feelings about the snot nose kid ( may he rot in hell) but complete proof - please point me to where the article gives complete proof he had no knee soreness last year ? He had a bung knee - he was out for the better part of the last half of the season and now it might be feeling better ? is that a possibility ? It is unheard of that a footballer has an injury, rests and it gets better ?

Phil Scully offered GWS gig in November 2010!
nutbean replied to bing181's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was in the camp that until i had some sort of "proof" then all was conjecture and speculation - Well, it leaves no doubt in my mind that there were massive lies told and now nothing would surprise me - I have been duped of the highest order and from now on my passport will read- "nutbean lives in the land of complete cynicism - believe nothing and nobody" (Apology to WYL - I suggested, contrary to your post, that the truth would never be known - GWS are leaking like a sieve. Interesting that the lid has been kept so tightly shut on Ablett ( when and where) yet the Scully walls are comin' tumblin' down) -
common sense would tell that i can't do that

"I want to keep sprouting nonsense and meaningless dribble that no one believes for the rest of my career, and I anticipate that will be the case"

This is what gets me - the comments made defending Tom in nearly all cases, belong to posters asking Tom not to be called a liar in absense of PROOF. There were plenty of supporters thinking he would stay - "why on earth would he go" but even the most ardent supporter RPFC acknowledged that he may go. I dislike the kid because he has gone back on his statements from the March press conference. That crime in itself is enough for me. His lack of character is being further emphasised every time he opens his mouth. He may well have signed with GWS pre draft 2009, he may well have signed October 2010. He may well have signed 6 months ago. I think the point is the "believer" camp was not calling the "liar" camp definitely wrong rather saying that he shouldnt be called a liar due to conjecture and in the absense of proof. ( let the flaying begin)

Someone on these boards mentioned earlier this year that Davey would get straight back into to the team after injury as he had a clause in his contract that he did not play VFL. I was was sceptical at the time because I couldnt believe that would be the case and horrified in equal measure in case it was ! I am glad to see that it obviously not the case and the message is clear - do what is required or play for Casey.

and interstate clubs continually take kids from other states - and of course they ask the questions - unless kids get hooked up to lie detectors they are never gonna know. I would venture that even with a 3 year contract signed by Trengove he was more of a risk than Scully at the time. As are all interstate kids. The most common theme on club transfers is the "go home factor". I will further venture we asked the hard questions and got the answers. I am sure that he would have preferred Richmond but i dont think any amount of profiling would have shown up what has transpired. We can learn nothing from this re what to do at draft time

I agree with everything you have said except we should have known better. Everyone would have taken Scully - everyone would have been duped. Nobody had the slightest suspicion except to think he was quiet, shy, focussed kid. Clubs have wasted picks on non performing talent, we wasted one on non performing character. I dont think we could have known

pick a team - any team and i will give you a wasted draft pick. Edit - scully is a number one draft - but if i go back through drafts i will find most clubs have wasted a first rounder - Collingwood Fraser, StKilda Kosi, Carlton Brock for 14 lol

Interesting people saying we need to move on. Not so easy - I "invested" in believing him and even if I still maintain that I have no idea what was done when, I feel betrayed to the extent that his actions have flown in the face of his March presser. Tom, you cannot say in March that "I see my future here, I would like to be a one club player and anticipate that will be the case" to say 9 months later " I want to be a Giant for life" . May you rot in hell.

its a freakin industry ! Tell me that Aker is employed for his thoughtfully well reasoned articles....pfftt...
-
Good to do but not sure it would stop him - idiots like him dont take to any criticism, never listen to other sides of the equation, have thick skin and most of the time dont realise when they are being made to look stupid. He will just plough on regardless.
-
My problem with the times i have heard him and i did hear his comments this morning tipping a thinly veiled bucket on CS, is that as a journalist i have an expectation that they should judge each event on its merit. Therefore if he had a problem with the Bailey sacking and the so called CEO affair - so be it - but then judge subsequent events independently - i dont think Venom can. Once you are written in red ink, then thats the end of it for him.

What i have liked so far is his unapologetic tone ( which is made easier since we havent played a game). He has been very black and white on what is and isnt acceptable. I like that straight talk

I believed it the first time he said it - but I am not stupid enough to fall for that "one club player" crap a second time. Tom - better to say nothing and have people think you are liar and money grabber, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Col Sylvia suspended for Round 1, 2012
nutbean replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is it ? So lets go one further. Trengove does the same thing - so now we have two footballers who during their off time - drinking ( apparently too much - or the club wouldnt have told Sylvia to go to a responsible drinking course) one week before pre season training starts - and leaves the scene of the accident even though he was the passenger ? still. Jones and Frawley do the same - so now we have four footballers. What people fail to realise is that it is a team game and you have to have team standards - you cant make exceptions for one (like Sylvia) or you have to make exceptions for all. I have been the passenger in two accidents. I know a few friends who have had accidents - i have yet to know anyone who as a passenger has left the scene. It is just not a good look. Sylvia at best is guilty of being a dill. And dill is not the standard you set for a team -
I thought Brad had a poor year as Captain. Having said that, he is not leading me or any of the Demonland posters - his role is to lead the players. Jack Grimes had a pointedly opposite view to me and said Brad was a really good captain. My position is that I am no position to actually gauge whether or not Brad is an effective leader. Firstly I only have visibility from the outside as to his leadership on the field - the players are the one that hear it and see it first hand. Secondly, Onfield leadership is only part of the gig - I have zero insight into his off field leadership. I think I am going to defer to people who have inside knowledge rather than me speculating as to Brad's worth from the outside.

I have rarely bought merchandise but did for the first time with a red polo with a touch a blue. I like it - what would I know - I am in the fashion game.

not me and i dont care

Its not the muscle - ( although it certainly helps) - my point is that the key is the ability to get to the fall of the ball. I watched our centre clearances last year and we were putrid (except for when Maloney/Jamar were on song), not because we were out-muscled - call it patterns, call it set plays, call it not getting to the fall of ball. Last year - we were where the ball wasn't.
