  1. Did not see that coming at all, very harsh IMO.
  2. There's a little bit of that with me too, means he isn't a one club player (although will always be a MFC champion), and he's going to my now most hated team. I do wonder weather his presence helped sway "he who must not be named's" decision.
  3. Malthouse is obviously no.1, but he will come with baggage in the form of us likely having to pay a lot for him and possibly contract breaches. Failing that we should move to get Neil Craig as a mentor with either Neeld, Sanderson, or Burns.
  4. Trengove is (currently) twice the player and has 100x more character. (I also think at the end of their careers he will be the more decorated player) But I agree with the vein of this thread, as devastating as this whole saga has been I'm glad it's done and we can move on. Of course if GWS come to the G against next year I hope the reception is nothing short of rabid, but it's time to turn the focus back to making for we get the best result for the club.
  5. Well the club has steadfastly backed Mortons ability, most here (including me) get extremely frustrated by him but it is definitely time for him to step up and repay the faith. Glad to hear we've signed Stef but from what I was hearing he loves the club, hopefully he can continue his development, he's shown he can compete and get his hands on the ball, we just need to get his effectiveness up. I can see Stef and Russian rotating between ruck and forward line next year, it's always great to have a tall forward target to kick to.
  6. Alright I'm in Europe at the moment so it's a bit hard to describe the way I'm feeling, but I guess I can say I don't really blame Tom for going. If we'd had q great year I reckon that could've been enough to convince him but at the end of the day just about everything that could go wrong has gone wrong for the team this year. 6 mil over 6 years is A LOT of money, it sets himself up for life regardless of if his knee gives out, which I will be very interested to see how he copes with that frailty. IMO I think he took the offer because he couldn't refuse it. My emotions may be at their high now, but I can tell you this: GWS are officially my most hated club. I pray to the gods that we get them at the G (Round 1 my preferance) and nothing would give me more pleasure than to see us rip their heads off. In fact the only thing that could give me more pleasure is if A: Melbourne won a premiership or B: GWS dies in the ass. The way they have conducted themselves over the fledging period is nothing short of disgraceful and the fact that the AFL has backed them the whole way males it more despicable. Gold Coast poached mostly ready-made players, and look what they've produced this year. The Giants have gone for kids, I wish them nothing but pain for 2012.
  7. This, or leave it for a year and give it to Jack Viney. Although, and I'm going to sound ignorant here, but what number did Todd wear? If that's available to him that would obviously be more appropriate.
  8. Good news, we all know the talent he has at his disposal, it's just a matter of getting him to put it out there consistently. Well done Col!
  9. JT plays like a captain already, but I'd prefer letting the kid play with freedom for a while without the burden of the captaincy, and make no mistake, where the club is at atm it is a burden. If we have another bad year next year, I seriously hope not but we'll see, the captain has to deal with a lot of external pressures and no doubt the media would jump on him because he'd be such a young captain. Beamer for me, JT and Chip (who also plays like a natural leader) VC, Jamar, Rivers, Jonesy and Watts round out the group. I've take Grimes out so the poor bugger can focus on getting out on the park, once out there there's no stopping him leading by example! Beamer has had an up and down year, he in particular has struggled against top opposistion because he is not an elite player who can shake a good tagged. BUT he loves the club, and he isn't afraid to do the team lifting tough stuff. I think he'd enjoy fulfilling his boyhood dream of captaining the Dees.
  10. My mind keeps coming back to the game earlier this year when they played the cats, I swear that was the most disgusting "game" of football i've ever seen. I usual go for the saints when they face off with the cats, but I was so happy when the cats beat them because it was a disgusting negative game. If he wants to bring that to the club then no thanks.
  11. Did anyone else catch the Richmond player giving Watts a cheap elbow to the breadbasket? If it had been caught on vision I have no doubt the dog would be gone for a week.
  12. Mostly a disappointing night, the game was there for us at two points: mid-way through the second and in the last. We got on top the second quarter but poor decision making and cheap goals hand them a good break. The coming into the last quarter I really felt we should've overrun them, but yet again we were our own worst enemies (how many times this year?!). Probably the worst part is I'm not surprised, I thought we should win coming into the game but we've shown how mentally weak we are too many times this year. The clubs attitude needs a major overhaul into next year and it should start with our (non-existent) leaders who should be ashamed at some of the efforts dished up this year. That said, I do feel there could be light at the end of this tunnel when I see the likes of Jodie Mac, Blease, and Watts.
  13. Where the hell is everyone!? Disgraceful effort from the demons fans. Interesting to hear Greens the sub.
  14. Exactly, same reason why a player who believes he won't be retained would give it his all in the last few rounds. I reckon there'll be very few retained when the new coach comes in, you'd think he'd want to bring in his own people. It'd be a shame to see West go, but I have no problems with former players from other clubs saying they harbour ambitions to return, if you play as long as West did at the Doggies you can understand the romantic idea.
  15. Perhaps this is the real reason behind the 100% Demon campaign. I'm already donating, if we get Clarkson I'll double it.
  16. My bench: Jurrah, McKenzie, Jetta Sub: Dunn Congrats to Flash for getting to 150 games, I'm really hoping he can turn it on. He's been average but I've been willing to forgive due to his long lay off through injury, but this is a game he has to stand up. I still remember back when he was a wide-eyed youngster, one game he played against the tigers (I think it might've been his second game) and he gathered the ball on the wing while surrounded by tigers, he stopped, they stopped, and then he flicked on the jets and burned them all off. Hoping for a big one from Jurrah as well!
  17. The way I see it, Watts has become a proven consistent performer for us this year, but has yet to tear a game apart. He was touted as a natural footballer and he's definitely shown all the traits this year in patches. Nik Nat on the other hand is more of an excitement machine, he's breaking even in the rucking contests thanks to his amazing leap and height, but around the ground does very little. This WILL change. That was the year the project players took 1 and 2, in 2 years they will both be stars, there is no shadow of doubt in my mind.
  18. I don't hate the idea of getting him, but i'm not sure whether he'd be exactly the right fit for us. If we were to go for an inexperienced coach he'd be an excellent mentor to have at the club.
  19. If we get an assistant as our head coach then we must make sure he is surrounded by the very best assistants around. Forget about availability, if there's someone out there we want we should do what we have to to get him. We should have extra money to spend if we do get a current assistant.
  20. My preference is to go after a proven experienced coach, however Neeld is definitely one of the front runners when it comes to assistants ready to step up.
  21. Petterd played well so he must've just taken it in his stride, but will be interesting to see if anything comes out about this. The AFL is just as hot on female vilification as they are on racial vilification, especially after the Lovett trial (innocent or not).
  22. All WE can do is our part, focus on finishing off the season with 3 wins, if the results fall our way then great, but if not then so be it.
  23. - Howe, in the absence of Jurrah's excitement he gives us something to jump around about. Should've had a couple more goals but worked very hard and provided a bit of x-factor. - Blease, seems to have a bit of dash about him and considering he's been injured for much of the time so far he's tracking quite well. - Jamar & Martin, in the face of two giants, one being arguably the best ruckman in the game, they were excellent. Loving Stef's improvement. - Ricky Bobby, dropping him earlier this year was the best thing we could've done for him, his work ethic since then has been brilliant and he's becoming a more rounded player. - Finally we saw some fight! W should've been closer the 3/4 time, a couple of soft goals and poor misses hurt, but they came out looking like they wanted to be out there playing for the red and blue. In the end one quarter screwed us, we should've been in front after the first quarter and we let things slip at the end, but it was just one quarter that did the damage. WC are a top 4 team, and beat us as top 4 teams do but I think we also showed that what we've been dishing up lately is well below what we're capable of.

I've noticed that too, perhaps the players and the coaches have made a commitment to each other to try to get the club to greater heights.
  25. The only suggestion I can make, without being able to look at the screen, is to try it in a different browser/computer. Sometimes certain coding stuffs up with various browsers of types of computer (I have a mac and it's happened a few times). Sorry mate.
