When players do well at other clubs i'm not angey at them, im angey at our FD of the time who couldnt get them motivated to the same level. Its as much of a reflection on the club as it is the player

'Raising The Bar' ... 9 MFC players who must lift in 2013.
DemonWA replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
For someone with a Norwegian Black Metal band's name in your user name you sure are emotional. Do you honestly think that names listed above dont plan to take their game to another level this year? I'd be disapointed if they didnt! Thats all this thread is, its a list of our talented players who could massivley improve our win loss record if they all lift and become consistant performers. -

Come on Stuie, the players listed are capable of improvement. Theres no law against 22 year olds being good AFL players. all the other clubs have young fellas stepping up. -

Where the poll Rangey?!! but seriously, i think you've nailed the list of names we should be comfortable about demanding improvement from -
We still have Davis, Fitzy & Gawn!
-
Totally agree, i wouldnt ever use the block function either you cant say reading topic after topic of people crying at each other doesnt get old though
-
I agree, they must have me on file as a pushover! i'd be better off buying $500 of merch from the demon shop
-
bought another 3 of those raffle ticket fundraiser things they ring around about, has anyone ever won anything from them?!
-
I'm not at all offended by Ben Hur's posts. But if you are the forum has a block function for a reason

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-03-14/waters-v-grimes Grimes gets a nice review in this article!
-
My non-melbourne supporting mates opinions of our players are a good unbiased opinion of which players are any good. They all rate grimes, perhaps a little more than they should becasue of his consistant dream team scores, but theres no doubting that he is a good player

More than happy to invest in and support the new breed, but they are still young. They will hopefully become better players than the 1st list over time, but im not sure they will be much more valuable to us on field in 2013 than the guys we let go. Moloney is a B&F winner who played some very good games in the jumper. Morton, Gysberts & Bate were selected with high picks and played some decent games at time - the new list of names dont sit any higher in my mind's pecking order until i see them prove themselves on the 'G.

Nice analysis mate. As usual its clear to see that our midfield needs a leg up with a star or two (trhoguh trade of FA)

Yeah what are the chances. The resport i stayed at had a new years function (set menu dinner & terrible entertainment) that was covered in your accomodation price. Being new years there would have been almost 1000 people there. It was alocated seating. Just happened to be sat next to a couple from Allice Springs - a cop and a nurse, they met in the emegancy at the hospital....did they have some stories to tell. We talked footy, amongst other things and he told me about the night Jurrah was arrested. Eye opening stuff. It would have been harder to accept if Jurrah was still on the MFC list - i wouldnt have wanted to hear what he had to say

Over new years in Bali i happened to have dinner with the police officer who was called to the scene when he was arrested (toatally random). He reckons Jurrah was pretty much caught red handed, no doubt in his mind that he assulted basil. He did agree that the witness statements would be torn apart by any decent legal team because everyone there was beyond drunk. He was disapointed about the amount of media coverage the case was getting purley because Jurrah was involved. Thistype of stuff happens on a weekly basis up there but no one wants to know about it

I'm in, no doubt I’ll learn allot from going head to head with such an esteemed football mind

I see parallels between the Melbourne Football Club and the Australian Cricket team. Melbourne had a period of success during Danaher’s time (top 8 finishes, grand final appearance in 2000, prelim 2006). In 2006-2008 the core of that side retired or were traded – All Australian players like Neitz, Yze, White, Robertson, and B&F winners like Travis Johnston. The Dee’s weren’t world beaters and the players weren’t as good as the aussie cricket team, but I see this mass retirement of the core of the team to be similar to when Hayden, Langer, Warne, McGrath, Symonds, Martin, Gilchrist retired. Brad Green & Cam Bruce were like Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey – a few surviving senior players in an otherwise very young side The MFC admin of the time were happy to gift games to talented youngsters based on talent alone, and I see that to be what Cricket Australia is doing by playing Hughes, Warner, Doherty, Maxwell etc. You end up with a situation where senior players get [censored] about the team selections not being based on current form alone & younger players in advertantly believing they dont need to prove anything to get a game The Melbourne situation spiralled out of control and culminated in a 186 point loss to Geelong at Kardinya Park. I’m tipping a 5-0 white wash for the aussies in the ashes.

FMD Jack Viney was selected with a father son selection at 26. A thead about who would be a better player (wines or viney) or weather we should have picked Wines & Viney over Toumpas & Viney would still be a waste of cyber space, but Would we have been better off with Oli Wines or Jack Viney? there are no words!

Can Melbourne win a premiership with its current list?
DemonWA replied to Young Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have no interest in crystal balling about whether our list can win a flag. I dont even know if we can beat sides like Port, North, Lions and Suns! Baby steps! -
I'd like to see us play a good side and crush the suns by 8 goals or so. Need a good win to go into the season propper with a bit of confidence
-
Tappy has the tools to be a good player. Injury, confidence, confusion over role might all be contributing to his medicore form. Having said that he's still young! Nathan Jones showed a bit early on but only really came good last year. Give the kid some time FFS

Would love to have been a fly on the wall hearing burton's comments about Martin and Moloney?!

Pick your fringe player for round 1 and the rest of the season
DemonWA replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kent looks to have something about him - think he'll be a player and will get a gurnsey early on playing off the bench or as a HFF Jetta gets the nod from me too, although probably on the interchange rotating through the backline and short stints in the midfield - he's probably got better skills than Nicho and seems to be more desperate than Strauss. Terlich - from what ive read and seen (not a great deal), he's an upgrade on Nicho as a rebounding defender. Maybe not as quick and fit, but more reliable with ball in hand? Tapscott - offers something valuable with his long kick, will get games, although might have to start the season in the VFL or as a sub Magner - will be the upgraded rookie and offers reliable depth when other inside mids are injured Matt Jones - Possibly gets a start early in the season due to his height and kicking skills being a point of difference between him and the others looking for a midfield spot -
The club is damned if they do and damned if they dont! If we get to round 1 and dont have a full sponsor list the masses will cry 'we should have done more to find sponsors'. What we see here is the club get on the front foot and advertise in a popular news paper and the hordes cry 'Schwab is a joke, cant he find sponsors without needing to advertise'
