I wont give him stick because hes a young player with a bright future but theres no doubt in my mind that he went to ground easier than he might have had he not been in full view of the umpires. To say he didnt get hit at all is plain wrong but i think the only reason this has been news worthy is because he is a young bull who is hard to take down woth the ball in his hands and the way he went down on the weekend was out of character

Winnable IMO The lads will need to play very well, but it can be done! Go Dees -
JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco
DemonWA replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Excuse my ignorance, but is Nev Jetta injured or out of touch? Seems crazy that such a reliable backpocket, who has significantly improved his attacking flair is being overlooked for the time being. Even if Milkshake and Hibbo are playing roles in the back half, I would have thought Jetta was still best 22. Is it a game style change which is getting him overlooked, or just that Goody prefers others for the time being? -
So far on field we've beaten the reigning premiers in a preseason match. Better than anything we did under Neeld!
-
Sorry mate, Goodwin has a footy pedigree and track record to suggest he's not the second coming of Mark Neeld. Additionally, I think the Paul Roos factor has got the playing group to a headspace where they can probably cope with tough love a little bit more than the side who Mark Neeld tried to coach. I wasn't a fan of Neeld, but I had hoped he could turn us around. As it happened he couldn't, but I stand by my call that you've gone way too early on drawing any comparisons here!
-
WTF - you've gone way too early mate. Neeld?!

Absolute storm in a tea cup. Even if Wattsy got on the [censored] before the intraclub or hasn't been training hard enough, does it really matter? A player not being selected for a preseason match is not even remotely news worthy. AFL media is a joke. Hundreds of people employed and between the preseason cup and the AFLW they still cant find anything decent to write about. It's almost like they needs a Bombers drug style scandal or another tanking saga so they can write the click bait headlines and vastly bias opinion pieces. Bring on round 1, when Watts kicks 3 and gets 20 touches on a half forward flank they'll roll out the redemption card. Give me a break!
-
WTF. Sure he hasn't been on the park for ages but he was an absolute gun. Will take the #1 player in the comp mantle if he can get fit
-
No, only because i dont trust his body at this stage so have put others infront of him. Also completley forgot about melksham. Imo will be in the 22 on round 1, but where is anyones guess

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS
DemonWA replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Youre dreaming mate. Hawks moving mitchell on was for salary cap space. For them to let Lewis go they'll want a good deal. Unfortunately if the lewis deal was done first we could have gotten a bargain, but i fear that the hawks have the cards now - their board doesnt want to loose both players so we'd have to do a good deal to make it happen now -
If Hawthorn get Mitchell & O'Meara then ...
DemonWA replied to Cranky Franky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Only time will tell weather the hawks have made a brave but great call, or whether they've burnt loyal club legends -
I'd bring in Lewis for a reasonable deal/price. Sure a team with all 3 of hodge, lewis and mitchell might havee looked slow against the dogs but theyre all good players. Stevie J and others looked cooked at their old club but look fresh surrounded by youth. Price would have to be right but id be open to it

This is the sort of post i come here for. I love trade rumours haha

I really like Garland as a one on one style defender, but like Dunn he has been overlooked for youth who can learn the new style from scratch. A good club man, and good player. would like to see him trialled as a half forward if he is retained on the list for the full contract term

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
DemonWA replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
To be honest once James Hird imploded I lost interest. The players have served their bans, the club has been bashed to death, as long as Jab Watson looses his brownlow I'm happy to move on -

Its a competition.... there will always be strong clubs and no so strong clubs This season proved that you don't need to be a power club to win it. Crying about Hawks and Cats being attractive destinations for players is futile IMO -

Hawthorn and Geelong have earnt their place in the competition. Players wanting to paly for them is nothing more than players wanting to go to successful environments. If their bean counters can somehow make the numbers work then all power to them -
Continues to be an important member of the 22, and looks to have a few good seasons left in him too.
-
he completely neglected Jake Spencer
-
Some fairly negative comments in here so far. Personally I find him to be a barometer for the side and a very valuable asset in the forward half. The type of player we haven't had for a long time
-
Been a surprise packet for me. Embarrassed to admit it but he's easy to forget when putting together a best 22. I've almost seen him as a bonus of sorts. should carve out a fine career.

The Hibberd trade is definitely something that I'm keen to watch unfold. A mid 20's pick seems almost like it's a given, but I wouldn't be surprised if we play a little bit of hard ball. Surely Essendon would feel some responsibility to do what their players ask of them, given the hell they've been through over the last couple of years
