  1. Cyril has had far more impact but he has slotted into a premier team - question could be asked, would Morton have fitted into that team?? I guess the question should be asked after they have both had 3 years in the competition.
  2. But McNamara, 0 games, and Buckley, 1 game 2009 after good development in 2008, are in the bottom group?
  3. I have been saying this for weeks. IF he is injured, rest him and get him right for 2010. (IF he is NOT injured prepare him for trade week.) Take the rest of the season to see Valenti's worth - after all he was again promoted from the rookie list, and played about half a a game as a forward with little or no time in the midfield - almost Daniheresque coaching that!
  4. Obviously Tassie Tigers, when Richmond relocate!!
  5. We should certainly be able to find out by the end of this nightmare if PJ is up to it or not. Big challenge = big opportunity. Go for it, PJ.
  6. I heard one witty quip from the crowd as Bock went on his merry way: "Tackle him - he won't hurt you - you are a guy after all"
  7. Did any serious posters here see the 2s??? HM goals did Watts kick. Any other highlights NB re Demon players???
  8. Reliable in close, hard and determined, balanced and rarely goes to ground, and actually gets the ball out. FCS 2008 was his first season, and playing in a team with little success - what do you expect. Not quick on his feet - but was Greg Williams????? IMO he will turn out a very valuable and effective player for us, given time.
  9. Has already moved ahead of the more highly drafted and experienced Meesen - should he come along at a similar rate in 2009 could press for a game or two in the AFL.
  10. My very thoughts and feelings - a "good ordinary player" with perhaps unreasonable congenital expectations .
  11. Maybe the injury took a lot more out of him than we all realise - after all he was close to death. He did seem to lack confidence when he returned, bith the first time and the second. Give him another year to regain his touch.
  12. Colin is one of those guys who is always "almost there" but not quite. He does have the talent to succeed - DOES HE HAVE THE WILL??? over to you Col - we would all just love to see you meet the high expwctations that have been laid upon you.
  13. In my mind 2008 was a big disappointment from a very talented and strong player on whom we were relying on to provide CONSISTENT target and drive from half forward. Why?? Who knows?? He needs to fulfil his potential in 2009 and he will be a star ie top 20 AFL player.
  14. Vlad, the [censored], gives us ONE Friday night game for the season - on the night of the olympic opening ceremony, agaist a live TV coverage. Sure as hell the bastard will let us know how poor our drawing capacity is and yes he will probably give us all Sunday evening games next year too. Self fulfilling prophecy on his part. JERK!
  15. I can just see Vlad saying to the effect "...well, we give Melbourne a friday night game at the G and they can't get anyone along.." Will not mention that (A) the game is TV live against the gate - not allowed even for huge sellouts by the way (B) the Olympic opening ceremony starts as the game is due to finish. Maybe the only thing that will save the gate is a massive boycott of the Olympics on account of China's appaling human rights record. I would be surprised if we get over 25K.
  16. Isn't this some sort of ambit claim by Freo? Try to get some bidding going?? We need to play hardball, and IF he goes to the PSD and IF he is the best on offer, then go for him at a fair price.
  17. "Jimmy spoke to the players about this. People say players don't play for the jumper. Well, we don't believe that. The jumper is the symbol of the relationships you build in a club. " Well, if they are to play for the jumper, we MUST get rid of that abomination that we have had as an "away" strip this year. Overall a great article on a passionate Demon.
  18. Jeff was comprehensively beaten by Street yesterday, and only few of his occasional hitouts resulted in clearances. I have ben a great Jef fan, but when one looks impassionately, very few of his hitouts recently have led to clearances: a far greater proportion of PJ's and MJ's have. That is surely the bottom line, especially when he doesn't contribute a hell of a lot around the ground. IMO he could have been developed a couple of years ago as a tall forward, but too late now. IMO he would be sensible to retire.
  19. After last week's performance, Holland is unlucky to be dropped, if he has and as mentioned above not a late change for Robbo who looked an unlikely starter. He has a good record v Saints as a forward - may well be a ruse.
  20. Would it be too presumptive and put too much pressure on Matty to say he has a Pavlich like look to him in the way he plays and demands the ball. Sure a few years behind him but jut wait and see!!
  21. Looked about as bad as Miller's last week - but he will get off. But FCS what concerns me about this sort of post is the idea many have that having a star suspended when we ply them makes it easy pickings for us!! Well, remember the Hawks midfielders were all suspended round 1 and look what happened to us!!
  22. Clearly coach Norm Smith and Captain RD Barassi.
  23. Yeah. CAC selected him knowing he would be on the long term injury list. Just as he knew Molan would (i) break his leg preseason then (ii) dislocate a shoulder in his comeback then I think (iii) do the other shoulder. Yeah, CAC is a fortuneteller and soem people just talk crap!!!!
  24. Gee Lord Travis it must feel great to be right every time! Tell us how you cope.
  25. Once again the backmen take the wrap - Carroll, Miller and at one stage we used Bell FCS against a man 10 cm taller and allowed the Hawks to pump it in with precision then blame the defenders??!!** Forwards and midfielders totally culpable and made judgement on the defence meaningless.
