These two are in a very different situation to say "getting senior games into" the likes of Morton & Watts in their first years: these two have already played in senior competitions, SANFL & VFL, though I totally agree and am sure Neeld et al will too, they will only get AFL games when they have earned the honour, not just forvthecsake of it.

The end of 'bruise free' football at the MFC
monoccular replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
So can you explain what happened? Did we over perform 2010 or under-perform 2011? Did we in fact 'tank'? Did Bailey 'lose the players' or did the players 'lose Bailey'? There must be some explanation that we have not yet heard? There were no major personnel changes that I can recall to explain it. -
If not soft, certainly showed absolutely no physicality, which is a Neeld prerequisite. (I reckon had Davey not been on contract he would have been shown the door too.)

1./He may not have been a failure but he wasn't a success, nor was Morton: Martin filled a role when needed. 2./ Do you really mean that Pedersen needs to better than all three you mentioned? That is a huge ask considering the wraps for Hogan. Hell, if he is better than all three, Norf have made a huge mistake and we will hopefully have made a killing (assuming that Hogan lives up to anything near his hype).

You guys had better be careful if you ride a bicycle.....crystal balls are very vulnerable. How about waiting maybe even a few rounds before pressuring the guys too much with the expectations many ad on the likes f Morton, asylvia, McLean, JW etc. it is often enough a smokey who benefits from the lack of pressure and attention. :-))

There are only three there: are you suggesting the fourth will become known in future millennia as Toumpasian?

sure Miller changed from a bit if a mongrel to looking all at sea. But IMO a large part of that was tribunal related: he got rubbed out I think a couple of times for what at the time had been regarded as fair bumps. ND may well have encouraged him to "cool it" but he did get a lot of opportunity to prove himself. And it is drawing one hell of a long bow to twist that around to say that two coaches and FDs later they could do the same to Jack Viney FCS!!! Miller lost his mojo for a number of reasons, and for absolute certainty MN wasn't one of them. Amazing comment IMO. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS

Thanks so much for the bucket of clod water. Please note one big difference....Jimmy has been playing senior footy for quite a while, not APS or TAC. In no other way will I attempt to compare the two : totally different players, and rôles. -

Thanks all above for filling us in - certainly sounds like an exciting prospect, and little to lose from our point of view. -

I will join you in that - hearty thanks guys. -
I am, once again being November, full of optomism about next year. Certainly best 22 would include Clark but he may well not be ready for round 1 - best to get him fully right and not risk any aggravation or elapse.

Mostly offloaded because they either couldn't or wouldn't bulk up to the required standard. Tough game at the top level. -
So ALL our additions have played at a senior level. No more "promising schoolboys" or players "with elite skills" but not the proven ability to play against grown men. A refreshing change, at least for now.

I lived the clip - RDB and JG made it very clear that the number doth not make the man, but nonetheless it is a well deserved honour. Lets hope he will be the next Premiership captain and when so then we can bump this discussion. As an aside one #31 since RDB did win a premiership - unfortunately not an AFL/VFL or even a footy one, but the (I think) immediate successor to RDB became Premier of Tasmania, Ray Groom.

Players not selected in the ND ...

Clearly misses on one of Toddy's KPIs - character. -
Maybe he knows a bit more about Dimitriou's blind obsession to "Americanize" our game than Andrew has let on to date? He may turn out to be the ohfence MVP of the new Southern Conference!

I read it before I checked what the initials stood for, but I realized it wasn't the miserable bitter writer ( I refuse to use the world journalist) from TheAge because there was no snide end note regarding " their affiliation with MFC who are struggling under mounting evidence of match fixing"!

We don't use that word at MFC - Ms Wilson will latch onto it and unleash her vile bilious tirades once more. -

He may well be an "elite kick" but he will need to get more of it pretty early in 2013 as there are others competing for his spot. But, yes, if he can get the pill then wing may not be a bad option, depending of course on who else is available.
