  1. . Maybe it never was? :-)
  2. But the trade ban is AFL policy : surely they would never make an off the cuff knee jerk decision on such an issue. Surely not? :-)))
  3. I don't know how to link the photo, but that shot of him strutting away from Selwood down on his knees just sums up the guy. Strong, arrogant, fierce competitor.
  4. ^^ GRRM re Mason Shaw Given the limitations of highlight reels and given the level of competition, he looks as if he can mark and kick goals, as well as doing a bit of ruck work. Could be worthy of a look as a tall forward / ruck back up. Wouldn't see him as a potential principal ruck. I am sure that the recruiters have had a look and formed a more educated opinion than we can, and will factor him in (or out) of calculations and considerations.
  5. I seem to recall hearing that Footscray had at least a young a list as us, and that the Saints whilst having quite a few young players were boosted by a core of experienced older players. There must be a source somewhere that compares ages and games experience between clubs, though I guess factoring in the commonest (as opposed to best) 22 would be harder to tabulate
  6. And he would be wrong there too - but the correct description (what is a correct description, says Derwayne) prolate spheroid would be beyond his comprehension
  7. The thread title summed up by this article. Still cannot forget his commentary of the Geelong game, and how the win emphasized my loathing of the <person who tosses> And how his commentary and the disappointment in his voice as the result became inevitable actually enhanced my joy at the victory. Perfect Never let the facts spoil a contemptuous article. Never remind us that given the circumstances (last round of a disappointing season) and the time slot (late Sunday Fathers' Day) were somewhat unique. [censored].
  8. Anyone who has the WADA sword of Damacles hanging over them, including though not exclusively Melksham.
  9. OMG I just realized how much I hate Norf......and Harvey Toiges choke of Normanic magnitude.
  10. Absolutely gutless umpiring. . Clearly HTB in front of Toiges goal - play on. Pathetically weak.
  11. Enough G&D to put most of the list to shame, especially those who have been around the club for a few years. Leads by example. Go Nathan.
  12. and the lower clubs will just act as development factories.......take some high draft picks, work out which ones turn out ok and which don't.......the top teams skim the cream.....further draft picks offered and the cycle goes on and on and on and on....... and as I said above the cycle goes on and on and on and on..... The lower clubs will have to have a shitload of luck to ever get out of the mire whilst the chosen clubs will continue successfully skimming the cream (OK, Hawks seem to have got the Frawley one wrong this time around). But, back to the thread title - yes and no. Yes as we should have under the guidelines have received a PP. No because the AFL are well known for making off the cuff decisions and will help Carlton and Brisbane in any way they choose, and justify it to their own satisfaction.
  13. We are talking about Jesse Hogan's dad, not Tom $cully's. Sounds like a very genuine sort of no BS guy.
  14. Cheney has been a surprise to me. Well done
  15. Sure. 1 or 2 max years - after all he isn't likely to be going anywhere fast.
  16. I am not suggesting that he does. Just his master plan to defend before learning how to attack.
  17. Yes, sure. But I thought that in that instance the pressure was not all that great. After all, there is pressure all the time. Just scrap the rule. It is a pity that one of these two have to go out. I would much have preferred were these two were to be playing elimination v Norf and Toiges. Well, we have 1 and 2.....hopefully year 3 of the Roos master play will involve attack! Word is that the whole of years 1&2 were based entirely on defense.
  18. Can we get rid of the absurd deliberate rushed behind rule? Absolutely typical AFL knee jerk reaction to one game. Has been enforced twice ever, I believe including one that cost us a game v Dogs last year. Richards just did one of the most blatant and was not pinged. Just admit it was a mistake, AFL, and save us all more confusion.
  19. They did look bloody awful...even worse than the wee and poo ones. And there would be absolutely NO clash with their traditional jumper. None whatsoever.
  20. .........but we would miss Brayshaw - thanks James Maybe he is more of a 24h clock....only right once a day. Twice a day is far more credit than he deserves.
  21. Many seem to be underestimating just how much we missed Pedersen when he was injured - not a star by any means but a pretty reliable solid rôle player.
  22. Whatever one may say about Hogan (on a Watts thread or any other thread), "He seems pretty..." just doesn't cut it. :-)
  23. Carlscum and Brisbane for that matter can wait 50 Premiership-free years and then be told to get stuffed. Though with Fitzoatrick at the helm, who knows.
  24. Tonight he us really looking like a classic deer in the headlights
  25. Maybe he has a dozen.......other players are known to have had >3 and are / have been / did continue to play. It is all AFL window dressing. Sure they may pick out a scapegoat from time to time but do you seriously think that the AFL really care as long as their big drawcards can still get out there? Especially a star player from one of their 'special clubs'. All that said, IF our now professional standard club leaders do their due diligence and truly believe that they can manage him, and that he will not pollute the younger players in particular then why not if the price is right.
