Sure we have stuffed up big time in drafting, Morton > Rioli just reminded me of the today, but to me, now with free agency I honestly can't see any road up for those stuck at the bottom at this particular time. We are destined to be a "development / feeder" club for the upper echelons who will let us develop,or stuff up, high picks, and skim the cream if we uncover / develop any talent. It is hitting me as a sad reality. A reverse salary cap, and restriction of FAs going to top 4 or top 6 teams could help with equalization, maybe.

Or do you mean dispense "whatever they take"?

As far as I am aware there is only ONE vandenBerg in the competition, whereas there are TWO J Kennedys, both of whom I would love at our club. Ah....the speculation at this time of year is just amazing. Good to have something to entertain / amuse demon fans in September.

We have had a series of good late pick ups, and until recently a few big misses earli r in the draft, so it really is a bit of a lottery. Can anyone define a "shallow draft "? Does it mean that there are few identified superstars below 5 or 10, or does it mean 'ordinary' from there to the end? Smart drafting late has been a forté. None of this addresses what is the right decision for our club re Jimmy's future: they know a hell of a lot more than any of us here regarding what is going on behind the scenes and in his head.

Maybe he was their secret weapon had they made the GF? :-)))) We could use him as a mentor should we land Bennell.

Do you seriously think that they haven't thought of this.....delved into the ins and outs, and the maybes? A contingency must be written in to any contract he is offered, along the lines of WADA no play, no pay, and possibly no stay. I am looking forward to hearing what is offered and what is written - as much as we will be told. But it cam sure that would appreciate your input and pointing out these obscure possible problems to them. -

Kennedys who change clubs seem to have a pretty amazing record of success....not that a name means anything in itself......unless maybe it was Josh :-)) -
No Priority Pick for Carlton or Brisbane

Agreed And by then it would risk pushing our first round pick from 18 to 19 :-))). (Dreams on.....) -

I guess I am starting to come around to Milkshake as a player, a cig in the wheel, but the WADA sword of Damocles still deeply concerns me in several ways: Say, worst case scenario, he gets 2Y, or even one. We will have - used a spot on our list - presumably traded away a pick - spent salary cap $, all on someone who may play as many games for us as Lucas Cook. Are there any other 'cleanskins' around at a similar overall price who can fill the rôle that Goodwin has in mind for him? The only part of that equation that I see we could have any control of at all is the salary, and maybe a little wriggle room on the list place. Are there any industrial relations lawyers here? Can a contract have a get out clause to void payments and overall contract in the event of something such as a WADA sanction? Were that the case we will still have given up a draft spot, but would not have continuing obligations.. -

.......as the Howe cult wanes. He should get his mates back at his old workplace in Canberra to mint a few medallions with his cheeky face on it. -

Maybe his ankle was hampering him especially later in the season. Hopefully he will be back full or run in time for 2016 season. Will need a better season if he is to move forward into 2017. -
Delistings/trades at end of the season

I am sick and tired of players being lauded for #2 in your checklist - Morton, Maric, Strauss, Blease, Gysberts and more were picked for their "elite skills" but we're just not your #1 - competitive beasts. If you don't, can't, won't get the bloody ball and / or don't have vision and balance elite skills are absolutely useless. I think your order is pretty spot on - though I may even swap #2 for #3, though I think they really go together. -

Any contractual deal regarding WADA, assuming it can be written in by some clever lawyer, would at best only related to our payments being terminated for a guilty finding with suspension. It would do nothing about wasting a spot on our list. Still, IF we do go for him I would sincerely hope that a get out clause is written in his contract. Anything less would be totally amateurish and unacceptable. -
Straight swap for Fyfe would just about get the job done I reckon.

What a gutsy guy. Not the most talented, but when Roos showed him faith and challenged him in 2014 he totally turned his career around. A fine example that sadly too few bother to emulate. Fell away a little 2015 but still never gave in. I am not sure how to avoid the concussions as he will not shirk: just hope he can fully recover and return to his best n 2016 and beyond.

I love convoluted ironies: how good would us getting a pick from the Pies, thereby picking up Weideman who turns out to be an absolute star and singlehandedly wins us a GF vs Collingwood!! Dream on.

Well deserved 3 votes. Looking forward to many more of the same. One thing never in doubt is that he will give his all to get the best out of himself. -

He made an impact right from the word "go": a very impressive first season considering th level that he had been playing at previously. The big test will be 2016. He will no longer be an "unknown". Other clubs will know a bit about him and the pressure will be on. I think most true Demon fans will have him amongst their favourites. Of course some pessimists will put him in the same box as Matt Jones - IMVHO he is already streets ahead of MJ. -
He had better not let Nathan Jones influence his coiffure then. And he can emulate Kennedy in his management of the stutter.

http://www.afl.com.au/video/2015-09-26/colossal-kennedy-takes-the-hit-and-finishes I could see our Jesse doing just this sort of thing - the first Demon since the Ox with the strength, confidence and touch of arrogance to even try that

The Scott twins look like that even in their sedentary position in the coaching box :-) -
With the termination of the no DH policy at the Swans, are there genuine signs of a mass movement towards jumping the ship? Tippett, if his head is in the right place, would be a huge bonus for anyone, especially us.
-
There is also the sub judice matter that will have to come into consideration not only in any trade, but it is rumored even in Norf's decision to retain or delist him.

Great footage from a great game....unfortunately his first goal was subjected to Derwayne's inane commentary. He loves to use the expression "the biggest moment of his career!" Inanely.
