If it is 6 for 3 then tell Howe to get stuffed and a surfboard, or he can speak with Collingwood and do a better deal.

The Top Clubs don't need the draft anymore!!
monoccular replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Circular argument - win games regularly, attract the developed players from the bottom clubs who then maybe get draft picks only to develop some who get picked off. No risk to the top clubs, all risk to the feeder clubs. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

Too true. Stuff them - if they play hardball, stuff them again. -

Thanks for clarifying -
It is designed to keep the "feeder clubs" in their place and allow the "power clubs" to continue to dominate, and skim the cream of fixtures and revenue. Of course the quaintly named 'integrity department' at AFL will 'ensure' that the integrity of the game and the equalisation of the competition is preserved (and that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy always turn up on cue.)

Why would anyone ask the club? Do you seriously think that it would require a supporter to raise the question - oh, gosh, Milkshake is from that club where some players are being investigated by someone...hadn't thought of that? It has been discussed ad nauseum in this Milkshake thread. I just hope and have said it before, that the club and its legal team have somehow squeezed in some "no play (WADA sanction), no pay" and a delist option. Still would cost a list place and a draft pick or a trade, but at least it could be terminated and allow us to move on. What would be unacceptable would be to have to carry his not insubstantial salary and a spot on the list for 4Y if he is unable to play for two. Just checked on Dan Murphy - most port is around 20 %

I must be more stupid than I think I am, but I cannot see quite how Bennell / Freo / steak knives assists us? -

My thoughts too. WTF Kennedy has to do with Dawes. Certainly Kennedy is nit striving for Dawes "bring the ball to ground can't mark" role. Georgiou - you pessimist. Hopefully it will be 38 ! :-) -
Our club is professionally run, so I sincerely believe that there is a way that they / we will not pay Milkshake for any time he may be suspended. It would be farcical, possibly terminal for the supporter base for us to be paying in effect for the EssUndone suspension. Cannot be a policy if it hasn't leaked from the sieve AFL

...by kicking higher scores than the opposition - coaching #101 It was a greta exhibition by our guys - I find it a bit hard to fathom why they can be so bloody good one week - attacking, running, playing direct - and the opposite for most of the rest of the season. Who is going to suck his toes?
-
Strange that :-)) Cards in microwaves?? "Imagine"
-
Do we actually know what is going on and maybe we have looked at and are not interested in some of these players. Our club is no longer a sieve. We have had a few very quiet coups under the new regime I will wait with great interest, speculate a bit, and see what our professionals do.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
monoccular replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is and will remain an interesting point of ongoing debate. YES TMcD has had a fantastic learning experience against some of the best KPP forwards, in a similar way that our greatest goal-kicker, DN did early in his career. Personally I believe he could go on to be one of our better KPP forwards in tandem with JH On the other hand he is doing a great job at CHB and unless the likes of Frost or his own young bro come along quickly, and I mean start to show as early as preseason 2016, JMc will stay as a defender for most of 2016. -
I am still bewildered by this whole WADA issue - why take the risk, basically, of losing your second round pick, and a big wad of salary cap when WADA could say "see you in 2 years" I mean St say I do like the bio of Rioli. I wanted us to draft uncle Cy but we left him
-
As I recall we were still a bit if a basket case when we recruited Jimma and Sean.......and they turned out to be just fantastic choices. Maybe our Irish spotters haven't ranked anyone high enough - those two did set the bar pretty high. Are there salary cap issues with international rookies - including accommodation and relocation costs.? Maybe Sideney can absorb those in their COLA and no doubt other 'special concessions' from the AFL. And maybe Sideney can afford more even if these costs are not in the cap.

Shhhhhh. Don't tell anyone.

Just asking: how many highlight reels show anything much other than attacking highs? I haven't seen him play, nor I suspect have many here. No doubt the club or one of our spies has, and will evaluate and rank him as fits our needs. Remember Cyrrrrrrrilllllll didn't test all that well, but I would have him in a microsecond ahead of he who we selected in that draft, who I do admit I had never seen either to that time. I had see Cy and liked him even then.

^^ Surely a draft is only ever as good as the recruiters and then the developers make it.

The 2015 AFL National Draft Combine
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why is it called a "combine" and not the draft camp it used to be? Something to do with a harvester? Or, more likely, a sad Vlad Americal sports imitation. -
I must admit to knowing little about him Stats, for what they are worth.........averages just 9.7 disposals over his 10 games. 179 cm, 79 kgm, so not a "typical Roos mid".

Dee-luded. Much the way of my thinking tooWith the depth that the Hawks had and have they could afford the 'risk' with Burgoyne and they certainly won that lottery They also tried with that huge flawed talented indigenous guy from WA ? another Garlett - that turned out a huge fail but despite that they didn't turn a hair. Depth again prevailed but had it worked out - wow! I would think at our stage we need to be at least moderately conservative and certainly not speculative (though a we all know too well, high picks are speculative too) Thanks to all who have answered my questions re JO and DP injuries.
-
....the relevance of which is...........?If there is a suggestion that a school source determines talent or desire or commitment - we got Watts, Salem from BGS. Similarities? Maybe yours is merely an observation.
-
As we sadly did with his Uncle Cy.

Can someone please give a brief on the injury history of O'Meara and of Prestia? Thanks

LOL. Where the hell did you get that picture??
