Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Good comment - way back even in our relatively successful times in the 1990s and early 2000s, I used to get so frustrated when a player made a great move or play, then left it at that. Little shepherding, second efforts (Kozzie v North early 2021 was such a great example, and Ed Langdon's GF goal, Kozzies under recognised block freeing Track for "that goal" in the GF), or "dummy leads" knowing they would not get the ball but instead drawing their opponents leaving space for others. We saw far more of these selfless acts in 2021 and long may they continue. ❤️💙

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
As I recall our own Austin Wonammeri was in a similar situation and never came back near his dynamic best. Good luck Tippa …… hope you can get back to your best (except v MFC of course).

TRAINING: Friday 4th February 2022
After the really tragic events (a word often overstated) leading up to and including his pelvic fracture, it is truly amazing that Majak is in a position to play footy at any level, let alone to be even in contention for a back up position in an elite AFL Premiership team. This is a fantastic endorsement of his own resilience and of OUR club’s now elite culture and support. Go Majak ….. I hope that you can continue to make a contribution to our ongoing success. Your presence as a back up last season, putting pressure on those ahead of you while providing a fall back option, even without playing a senior game, should not be underestimated. The flag was a genuine full club success story.

Vale Laurie Mithen
Another sad passing from our history, but at least he lived to see us break the drought. Laurie was always hard at the ball and gave no quarter. If I recall correctly it was the 1961 2nd Semi Final where he was dropped behind the play, in what may have been a game changing incident - it was said to be by a Hawk (alleged by some who claim to have seen it happen, one who went on to become a prominent QC or even a judge though my memory may be failing so please don't quote me. Happy to be corrected). No video review in those days so he went on the play in their inaugural premiership.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
A lot of water to flow under the bridge before round 1 - IMVHO Hunt is probably in the best 26 (or so) but no lock in for 22.

MFCSS - Tom’s foot gone for the year 😮😱

Covid House Party
Cheese, or chocolate? Maybe since Covid there is some obscure Victorian law mandating non sharing of the fondue pots, or at least no double dipping. A market opportunity awaits for multiple mini fondue pots for individual use.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
I started feeling confident round 12 …. 3 goals down to Brisbane at half time, then a 9 goal to 3 second half. And I must say even at half time, for the first time I felt pretty confident that we could get back. One embarrassing record I don’t think has been mentioned is that we haven’t won 3 flags in a row since 1957 - we need to break that by 2023, then surpass it. 🙄❤️💙

The TRAINING without the Trackwatchers Thread
Please don’t tell me that since the GF wasn’t at the G or even in our time zone that maybe we didn’t win at all - a total Chanel 7 fabrication (like the so called moon landing)🤭

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
I am sure it is not relevant in any way, but since you bring it up the QLD Health Minister is / was Ms Death (or D’Ath).

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
And the name worries me a bit too. 🙄

TRAINING: Friday 28th January 2022
Let’s hope he plays in as many Dees premierships as did RDB#31 #6 and #11 shaking hands, like friends? Where is the mongrel? 🤗 JVR has already sent a message to Sam - Sam, are you up to the challenge? I really and sincerely hope so. And Aaron Naughton ?…. didn’t have a great GF but then he wasn’t alone I guess. Overwhelmed like most of his mates. vide supra And VFL park probably had an ice storm Mac Andrew?

Farewell Luke Jackson
If The Emperor secedes will WCE and Free still be eligible for AFL? "...The core of this premiership team can enjoy sustained success and get handsomely paid too along the way If they stick together..." ...and set up for life after footy too if they play their cards right and make sensible financial decisions. The world is at their feet.

Most Clangers ever in a Season
.... unless the kicker knows that the intended recipient is likely to double back behind the defender, which Fritter is so good at. I can guarantee 100% that if they put me on the AFL field even in my youth I would get zero clangers. (0/0 = 0%)

Jack Viney Critical Element
Yes. Sparrow is becoming the brute that we have always had in JV, and IMO his disposal skills are way ahead of what JV’s were at this stage of his growth. A joy to watch I agree that Yze’s influence may be much underestimated and under appreciated

COVID Disruptions 2022
Maybe you have good reason to be - testing appears to be voluntary; and this is allowed in the state that has had the harshest restrictions / repressions. I guess it shows money talks.
-
Most Clangers ever in a Season
If one gets a hell of a lot of ball in very close far more room for error. Clangers as a percentage of total disposals could be a slightly better, though still very imperfect, reflection of a player’s worth and contribution.

Who will be in our side for the 2022 first round?
From what I heard it was never at all
-
Who will be in our side for the 2022 first round?
Although no premiership team has ever played all together again (which I find an interesting fact) one would have to say that the GF like up would be the default, into which some aspirant would have to force his way. But preseason will undoubtedly bring its usual ups and downs and it is far too early to make any calls.

Present list and future needs.....(long post)
I agree that the one spot we really need to work on is a back up / eventual successor tap ruckman. Other than that JT seems to have all bases covered, at least for now.

COVID Disruptions 2022
Maybe a 16 team 2022 season sans WA?? That would certainly stir up the sandgropers
