  1. Seems a bit of a pointless self flagellating thread to me. Personally I will just continue to enjoy the moment.
  2. Yes re Jackson, Pendlebery Not so sure re Watts, Bradke.
  3. As mentioned before, an absolute dogs dinner. I hadn’t appreciated that there were an even number of clubs: why then multiple byes? And 22 teams! Who dreamed this up? Should be sacked.
  4. Still seething that we allowed those single final quarter goals to Geelong in the PF and Footscray in the GF 😮. Need to be more ruthless 🤗
  5. KC. You clearly know a lot more about the VFL than most here. What are you thoughts on reverting to a locally based Victorian feeder competition rather that a mega unbalanced competition that travels all over the east coast? How do the average listed VFL players with “real daytime jobs” eg tradies and the like respond to whole weekends away? My thoughts have been than an even numbered local competition would serve us all far better.
  6. I never saw him in action, but sounds like he was worthy of a try. Big tall lad but maybe underweight for the rôle, basketball experience certainly not a hindrance (Jackson, Pendlebery etc) but wasn’t to be.
  7. Depth is essential in maintaining success, both by providing back up in case of injury but also in putting pressure on the establishment to continue to strive. Mitch Brown is a solid example of this role - great to see him stay around.
  8. As I recall his first injury was a dislocated shoulder but haven’t the rest of his regular injuries recurring soft tissue - NB groin and hamstring? If he cannot overcome these sadly he will be unable to become a regular, or reliable, contributor.
  9. Thanks Nev for being so determined and reliable, and such a mentor and example for all especially our younger brigade and indigenous players.
  10. Having a second string to one’s bow, other skill sets up one’s sleeve, can only be of benefit to both the individual and to the team. IMVHO he looks a natural defender, but playing in defence can certainly also benefit the development of and understanding of forward skills.
  11. Certainly an excitement machine ….. even though he had few possessions in the GF and didn’t share in the goal fest his pressure was enormous and contributed to the cause, and remember he also occupied a defender’s attention. A great season and a massive contribution to our success. Bought into the team first mantra.
  12. And I hear he is eating 4 weetbix for breakfast Anyone know his actual length and weight? Georg Olver Gone?
  13. as well as a quadruple premiership defender
  14. In fairness, Brooooce way back in his heyday, was pretty good, but sadly became almost creepy in his final years in the job.
  15. I must say IMO it was Uncle James' best game ever.
  16. The post of the century. I would love him on radio - on a station that I never listen to.
  17. ....which has been very rarely I think the Bulldogs player must have as they piled up on top go him. Maybe we should be asking, being very technical, should it have been 50? (As it turns out that would have spoiled the narrative for the night - just a bit). But back to Jake - an unbelievably mature thinker for one so young.
  18. Their silver lining to a very dark cloud, not ours.😅
  19. They both remain unknown quantities but if they can even nearly as good as Jake we would all be very happy. Please Gillon - priority task for 2022 is to fix up arrangements with that dog’s dinner feeder competition quaintly known as VFL
  20. It just shows never write anyone off after a “less than spectacular” debut. Quite a few here wanted him delisted if not straight after his debut at the season’s end. Another example of reward for persistence and effort, now a hallmark of this magnificent club culture.
  21. The word tragic is far overused but so totally appropriate here. And just imagine what he could have been under the current coaching and development regime of support and self belief. Tracc, Clarrie, Frittata - any of these and more.
  22. Fritz skippering a U boat? Another of out talented players to make huge progress in 2021, our Premiership year. Kudos not only to the individual but to all those who helped guide, develop and coach him to these great heights and engendered self belief.
  23. I remember Groom arriving as a great savior but never really delivered. Similarly Templeton. Wheatley as has been said above could have become a very good player in a decently run club and most reminds me of Fritatta of all the 31s. But Fritatta is definitely the most succesful #31 since RDB.
  24. What a fine example of reward for persistence and hard work is our ANBPP. He has come along from being a bits and pieces filler to a vital part of the forward cogwheel. Thanks so much ANB for sticking to it when quite a few here wanted you gone.
  25. SWYL he slipped under my radar a bit too, though I th8nk it was v EssUndone that he pinged another vital long goal too. Very tough, smart thinker, great boot. How unbelievably amazing would that be. He has many of the attributes. Maybe a Petraviney or a Vintracca?
