POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
He may be a rescue dog person, but it doesn't look like he had rescued any Bulldogs at that stage. Probably a hell of a lot more needing rescue now.

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
13 kg in six months - sounds like me in lockdown 🤭 As I recall there was a Cardinal Sinn in the Phillipines a while ago

Throwing away the whistle on GF day.
True. 1. IF we had gone down by under 5 points Max’s non reviewed goal would have been a massive talking point. Wasn’t it introduced (in the AFL’s typical knee jerk reaction) exactly for that reason, “to avoid a GF being decided by a dubious goal call”? 3. agree 100% - blatant inconsistency.

Sadly his body let him down far too often whilst his spirit never did.

The Grand Final Rematch
Alternatively we could play the Cats and stuff their confidence early in the season. As our home game though. I don’t think we have had a hole game v these druggies since before they were caught out.

2021 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever
A great acquisition and the leader of the defence. Cool, calm, collected, though that could be said of those beside him in out great defensive unit including Salem, Bowey, May, Rivers in particular.

Training Ground?
No. I didn’t see that. Was still engrossed with AFL GF matters - actually still am. ❤️💙 But it could form a serious part of our pitch the slightly enlarge the ground, and additionally improve climate resilience…

2021 Player Reviews: #11 Max Gawn
Max - an what an appropriate name - has become the most inspiring captain in the competition. And he and Cool Hand Luke seem to be learning skills and tricks from one another. The best combination since Strawbs and Jimmy - even better because they both have ground skills and smarts. Both become extra mids after the ruck contest.

You must be too young to remember Dixon, Adams, Keneally 👹

2021 Player Reviews #12 Toby Bedford
All above observations noted. It will be hard to break into a Premiership team that has Spargo and Pickett going so well AND an absolute disaster of a feeder competition even without Covid. What was it, 21 teams (so multiple byes) of very variable qualities, made up of many part time footballers who have real jobs yet are expected to travel interstate for days on end. We need to restore the V as in Victorian FL (with an even number of teams so no byes) and let the other states organise their own state competitions.

Training Ground?
Are the current trees non- indigenous elms? If so I would have thought that the woke Melbourne City Council and all the local Greenies would support their removal and replacement with local indigenous ones, which could be placed around the expanded oval.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Only once a week?? Too easily satisfied.

Training Ground?
No way … their ground is pint sized.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
I felt pretty despondent …. left the room realizing that I wasn’t wearing my scarf ….. put it on and ….. bang, bang, bang (and repeat) …. so you can all thank me for the turnaround. 100 points to 7 with the said scarf on ❤️💙❤️❤️💙

Cumulative winning margin in Finals
Mmmmm .... no regrets from me. The only regret would have been spending all our petrol tickets in the Brisbane game and not being able to come back in the GF. And, speaking of the comeback, of course in retrospect (not good for the heart at the time) would grinding the Dogs from the start with a progressive 3,6 9, 12 goal gap have been as invigorating as having to come back and slaughter them?

Dees Back on the Track
Certainly there were many (myself included) who were disappointed that other than theGC game we didn’t really smash anyone during the H&A season, but I seem to remember hearing / reading somewhere that this was part of the grand plan, pacing ourselves and letting go come finals time. The way the season panned out this could well be the case.

2021 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever
Just out of interest, what did the Crows get with the swapped picks we gave for Lever (and Petty as someone alluded to earlier)?

2021 Player Reviews: #9 Charlie Spargo
Given his stature he must have always as a junior, and far more so at the top level, needed ‘footy smarts’, courage, tackling ability and pressure as well as his obvious disposal skills, and he has shown us particularly in 2021 that he has all of these attributes. Great season Charlie, and well rewarded. Many thanks.

Ir maybe in 10 years Pendlebury may be recognised as just an undersized Luke Jackson.

Training Ground?
Sure thing - but we could have had a really dominant finals series had we had decent facilities 🙄🙄❤️💙❤️💙🏆👹

Not really relevant to the thread title, but what a difference a successful season makes (other than Melksham’s lack of pressure)
