  1. Good to see us going into ball ups with a 50:50 chance for once. Jake is giving us more than Jamar did.
  2. See sawing emotions with the see sawing scores. I guess it's all about the wind advantage. Thanks all for the score and twitter updates. Go Scorps!
  3. Can't believe it's taken me this long to find out the Daily Maggott has gone into hibernation. http://thedailymaggot.com/ Guess it's just that we have had so much of our own unbelieveable amount of tragedy, drama, pathos, vitriol and blood letting this year already that I haven't ventured over to The Daily Maggott for a dose of proper satire until now. God knows they would have had enough material for a year from just our first 4 weeks. Or perhaps MFC just made their heads explode with all the possibilities for stories. Vale boys. So long and thanks for all the tish, and plenty of laughs.
  4. Do you think his boots would still fit him? Hope so.
  5. For those at the ground, who will Toumpas replace?
  6. Think you missed my point. I'm talking about Watts and Sylvia who have hardly ever taken the game on in several years, not Neeld's coaching and whatever effect that is having.
  7. Sorry GNF - have to disagree with this line that several people put forward. Regardless of the team they are in I think Watts will always be soft and Sylvia will struggle to fit into the team discipline and structure. In a good team they would both struggle to make the cut and would be fringe players at best.
  8. "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me"?
  9. I'm not as down on GL as many here, but I am very conflicted and disturbed at finding myself agreeing with Matthew 'gimme a free for in the back' Lloyd. He is saying some incisive things as a commentator - I keep looking for a muppeteer hand up his back as though he is not capable of that degree of thought by himself. Maybe he is being fed the lines by the network to pump him up as a future talent, but he was dead-on with the observation that noone in the administration is presenting any answers, and that the players did not follow a very clear instruction of Neeld's to man up on Watson.
  10. A good read. When I first saw the thread I thought it was weird someone was writing about my experience last night when I had a nightmare about 186. Can't remember the details but it was definite nightmare about Demons playing footy and 186 was the number that kept displaying to me.
  11. McDonald for Dunn Terlich for Gillies Trengove for Tapscott? One other - don't know. More support up forward? Clark's ankle would be a concern in restricting his movement. But most of the corrections need to happen in the back line and midfield.
  12. Feel sorry for Hardtack travelling from Sydney and others who came from great distances to see such a debacle. Interested to hear from posters in the members about booing the side off the ground after the last 2 quarters.
  13. I know a pharmacist who could probably get us some antidepressants in bulk. Might put the offer to the demons shop - with discount for long suffering members. Perhaps there's also potential for another sponsor here: Beyond Red and Blue.
  14. Enough form and substance and effort and determination for me to realise: - we deserve to rise above the bottom four this year.
  15. Agree it feels left field and I feel almost awkward to say it, but I think Sellar's game tomorrow is one of the most important for us of the 22 starters. We need to have a second (and effective) target to share the load with Mitch. We can't expect Clark to keep playing like Superman every week without an alternative route to goal. Whether it's Sellar (on pre season form), Pederson or whoever, that 2nd option is vital to our flexibility in attack. The tigers showed that on Thurs night. Now lets just hope we have a good enough performance in the midfield and backline to get it up forward to our big blokes who are all firing. I want Dawes to have to fight for his place back in the side.
  16. And follow up votes for Milne, Robinson and $cully.
  17. Don't have the piccies or the ability to upload, but what about: Michael Long Alan Didak Kevin Sheedy - now there's a marshmallow head that you could lose your fist into...
  18. That made me give out an involuntary chuckle like Dick Dastardly's dog Muttley.
  19. How does that bloke's hair stay in place while his head's pounding the desk? And is it Jack's old man?
  20. Dreaming. Improved - Yes. Premiership potential - maybe. We all have potential. But there's a huge gap between the actuality we see now and the potential we all like to believe lies within our boys. But when it comes down to it, there's not enough 'hunger' for mine. Absolute, stop at nothing, intensity, desperation or die trying, resolve. No media appearances, no tricks, no self-delsions, no pretensions, just f'n do it. Not 'be the best you can be', but 'be the best in the competition'. We are a long way off. Don't know how I come to that conclusion - it's just the vibe.
  21. The OP says it for me. And plenty of other posters above. Wow. Just: Wow! First time I've seen him play tonight. He pretty well did not do a thing wrong - hard to believe for such a young bloke. Knew where to go, how to position himself, where to kick to a team mate. And isn't he built like a brick dunny! I hate it when we get ahead of ourselves, as we have on too many players in the past, but I'm letting the reins out on this one.
  22. Ah those were the days. St Peters had 2 teams running in parallel in the junior section. Played my first few years of footy there. I remember playing against Paul O'Brien who was in the other St Peters team. He was flashy and evasive and always hard to catch, until I just watched his hips. Nailed him with some good tackles after that. Fond memories of an old fashioned pie night when a few Melbourne players came down to Bailey Reserve since we were in their 'feeding' zone - Max Walker and Greg Wells (and I think either Tony Sullivan or Stan Alves??). Very early seventies. I got to play 3 games in the little league in the demons colours because of our location in their zone.
  23. My 'wonderful' kids got me a poster. It's kind of pop art meets footy tragic. How about you? Anything footy related in the stocking this year? Sorry - image is pretty small. Text says: "Dammit Brad. I don't care what they say. We're going to be premiers again."
  24. Top effort D'landers and especially site administrators and mods, in a very bleak year. Here's to a much better one next year.
  25. Good future that boy. Also saw him walk past last night on the gound at Etihad prior to he start of the Coldplay concert, so was glad to hear that he fronted up to training today. At the pace he was walking, I'd say he's in for a good season. Wish someone had handballed him a footy and said "go son"
