  1. OK - enough with the hints - what's your story? Why the hospitalisation? More points if you can weave in something related to footy.
  2. + 100. Just look at the manipulation of the fixture now (Pies the most obvious example) and it's obvious that the goal is not to create an even playing field, but to get TV network rights and match takings to be as high as possible, so the year end bonus for Vlad and his cronies is maximised.
  3. Just keep him away from the docks where they're loading up all the other live cattle...
  4. Bater looks to be pressing for elevation based on recent form in the Scorps. Makes things difficult for selectors but a nice problem to have.
  5. True. But also in reverse - if Morton were playing for another side, would we bother to try chasing him? I wouldn't want our recruiters to do that.
  6. Thanks very much for the updates KC. A lot of us footy-starved readers are following your posts.
  7. Gotta be a new record. A first gamer is on for a quarter and a bit - of his first game, just to emphasise the point - and he gets carpeted by a 'supporter' of the club. Superb effort that.
  8. Can just hear the sound now of the banjos being plucked, warming up for the big event.....
  9. So much of a disappointment that I think it was Lou Richards who quickly coined the term "Topaz Tilley". Anyway... what about: Gary Hardeman - Jared Rivers Stan Alves - Jamie Bennell Peter Moore - Steph Martin (loath though I am to acknowledge a team shifter from the Filth) Sorry bobby mck. - intended to quote you rather than WYL, but both posted on the same Tilbrook topic
  10. These say it for me. Morton to me is one day a putz, another day a young bloke showing glimpses of a lot of promise. Trouble is, he has proven he can be a putz, but the promise is still only a promise. Right now, I'm still leaning more towards the putz end of the scale. Maybe the test question is: Would you go out of your way to recruit him if he were at another club?
  11. Yes yes and yes Stuie. I remember including this kind of observation in a post last year, when JW drilled the ball a couple of times in a game to LJ. It speaks to me something about the spirit of Australia and Aussie Rules that can break down barriers and bring people from all walks of life together. It's been great to see that spirit rekindled regularly when the 2 boys are on a bit of a high - but that's not every game as we all well know. Keep an eye on it and you will become all warm & fuzzy (!!)
  12. I liked this aspect of the post game wind-up by the players. But it makes you wonder - did we have to be told by the media it made good sense, or would our team (and captain) make that decision independently, as a matter of good leadership?
  13. Reminds me in that sense of Simon Buckley - not afraid to take on the chaser, and has the speed to do it. But seemingly at this stage with more talent, and hopefully a better attitude.
  14. A team jumper that didn't change colour / pattern / sponsors names EVERY year.
  15. First reaction: "Stupid call. Can't drop the captiain after 1 poor game. He was great against the Bummers." Second reaction: "Might be onto something there. Send a mesasge to the WHOLE TEAM - you don't win your position on the day, you're up for review at the selection table." You sure you're not a psychologist Roost It?
  16. I feel your pain exactly. I'd like to know how many of those kick outs to the flank actually progressed beyond the drop of the ball towards the Dee's goals vs those that were turned over or went out of bounds. Reckon it's about 20%. I'd like to add another: The clearances from hit outs. We might have actually won the day on hit outs (no idea, but that's what it looked like), but you wouldn't know it from the clearances which almost always went in the direction of the pies' goals. We had no (effective) system once the ball left the rucks' hands in the tap out.
  17. These are GOLD. Bit generous with Joffa though.
  18. I'm partly with you there QC, and partly not. Bate to me (sadly) is beyond redemption. I really liked his endeavour from his first game, but believe the game has moved on beyond his talents before he has had a chance to fully mature. Dunn is on notice. If & when he gets back in, he needs to deliver consistently. He has talent, but the next time he is dropped should IMO mark the last time he is played in the 1s. Maybe it's the mo that's sh1tting me. Lynden - ditch it! Get serious about your footy before it's too late! Petterd, however, is a long way ahead of those 2. Early this year he made a big difference as a sub. After that, he's had a few poorer games, but I can't believe the no. of posters here now wanting his head. If any of Bate, Dunn or Petterd get another run in the 1s, I would prefer if it's only 1 of them at a time. I'd rather use 2 of those 3 possies constructively for newer kids in development. Survival of the fittest.
  19. It didn't influence my vote, but I've actually admired JT's media appearances of late - even after the disappointment of the suspension. For a 19 year old, he was also very good on Before the Game Sat nite.
  20. So many words. So little evidence. Just trying to get the no. of posts up to an all time record. C'mon - lets do it! Empty posts shouldn't be counted (despite the no. of posts with emptiness - emotional or factual) already in this thread.
  21. Don't want to move the discussion too much off topic, but I think the most damage to our membership growth this year was done at the WC game. I certainly felt a huge defaltion at the effort of the team and the coaching panel during and after that game. Would be interesting to see how the rate of memberships was tracking before and after that debacle. Performance in the early games is really critical to getting supporters on the wagon.
  22. If Trenners gets 3 weeks for accidental concussion arising from a tackle during play, how can Daisy get anything less than 3 for a DELIBERATE AND FORCEFUL contact to the head with his fist, off the ball, resulting in a head wound?
  23. That was beautiful to watch, sitting as I was between 2 fanatical Bombers friends. Just gotta love that Jones boy's efforts when the pill is in his sights and he wants it more than anyone else.
  24. I don't think we can tell any more how they will play from just looking who is listed on the team sheet. What matters is what attitude those names bring to the game over 4 quarters. So much of our performance seems to come down to tenacity, attack on the game, gritted teeth, gut running, wild-eyed pursuits and tackling, hunger for the ball, running to space to give a team mate a kicking or handballing option, looking up quickly when we've go the ball to assess the options and finding the best one, honouring the leads into space, talking to a teammate, slapping him on the back or pulling him into line...... Which part of the roller coaster ride will we be on in any given weekend? I can't tell that any more from a team list.
