  1. M Jones has been in our top half of players pretty well every week this year as I recall. I feel sure that its a case of giving him a pat on the back and a scenery change while Roos takes the opportunity to get a look at one or two of the guys whose career is truly in the balance (Blease, Tappy, maybe Terlich). If he tapped Bail's shoulder it would be seen to be related to form because he has been less convincing than Matt Jones recently. But I don't believe Roos is going to go cold on Bail for the next 9-12 months, until there is a better replacement through drafting or Casey development. Kent could easily be dropped under the same rationale as for Jones - your position is safe for the time being, take a beak and work on some further imorovements in your game while we test out a few guys who are on their last chance. Tappy must surely be played at least one more game to see if last week was the exception or the rule.
  2. Sorry JR but I reckon there's a top line from The Castle about that. To be top 10 in the Brownlow in that sort of team, JW would have to WANT to be on the receiving end, consistently, work really hard to GET THERE, consistently, and WIN the ball, consistently. All while being respected enough by his team mates to bring him into the game because he rarely gets himself into it.
  3. Anyone notice how much more McKenzie was inclined to kick the ball yesterday running out of a pack rather than look around in a panic to handball it off? Stats were 9 kicks, 5 handballs, 71% efficiency. That's the opposite sort of ratio to his normal stats. Not saying he was any better than usual, but it was at least good to see the ball being cleared forward via a kick rather than more ring-a-rosie handballs into trouble around the congestion. Something has changed in his instructions or the way he plays.
  4. My thoughts exactly. He replicated what he showed against the Tiges in VFL. We don't see many who can bring their same game when they step up the the big league. He's a keeper.
  5. Oh dear....... Can only assume he will get another run under Roos' style of giving players a few weeks to show what they've got. Not warranted on today's showing at all.
  6. boydie, on 12 Jul 2014 - 3:56 PM, said: Beelzebub: "dont tease me....you sure you can get a whole box ??" I'd be happy with a pack of plain savoury shapes, open, stale and weevil infested. The weevils would have more heart.
  7. Couldn't believe the size of the gulf between us a top team today. We are so far off the pace in skill and fitness. A couple of draft periods won't go close to being enough.
  8. Jetta has been far from worst. Just giving Terlo a run I'm sure and doesn't want to take off Kent Tappy or Riley.
  9. Lets sub on the Sesame St characters. Couldn't be any worse.
  10. Riley has looked very good bringing the ball outof congestion on a couple of occasions. Looks really impressive given his lack of games.

    Umpires

Full of sympathy for umpires as a former suburban grand final boundary umpire, but still can't help laughing when my bomber mate calls them "glorified gloworms".
  12. IN: Jetta, Riley, Tapscott. Did anyone get the trifecta?
  13. To clarify, it seemed to me that plenty of posters have overlooked Tappy in their 'ins', which was my point. I expect he would be given due and full consideration by the club insiders.
  14. Where does Tappy get a look in? Taken to Darwin as emergency, misses a game at Casey where his size / strength would have been very handy in an overpowered side, consequently doesn't get mentioned in either game review, and so drops off the radar? Hardly a reward for good performance in prior weeks.
  15. Was that the doing of Appendagast again?
  16. "Nutbean has issues with accepting feedback or criticism...."
  17. Dunno. I thought jnrmac had some good contributions.
  18. They would have flown up to heaven and we would never have the luxury of tasting bacon. If Stef Martin is responsible for that then I'm glad he went to Brisbane
  19. I'm curious what posters mean when you say 'so and so needs a rest'. Does that mean go back to Casey, or not play at all next week? I am sympathetic to the way it 'sounds' right for a particular player but when you think it through, what does it really mean? If it means go back to Casey, how can that be a rest? We expect players to earn their way back into the senior team. If they play at Casey, they have to outperform their teammates for a few weeks in a row to deserve the next callup. If they have a true 'rest' and dont play at all for a week, how do they prove they are worthy of the next senior selection? Outperform for the next few weeks at Casey? And does that mean they are then close to needing another rest just as they are promoted? I really don't have an answer - what do you mean by a 'rest'?
  20. Oops. Postus interruptus. See full post below.
