Bizarrely I was barracking for the Blues to assist with your theory about interstate teams, and hoping it helps keep Freo out of spots 1 and 2. Same with the Cats whenever they play any interstate team. Dockers have the Tigers and Dogs in Melb so thats two games that may be helpful if the home teams can get it done, but Lions only have the Tiges in Melb and a fairly soft home draw , plus Dees in fnail home game for them. With a bit of luck, and if Dees and cats keep winning, Just maybe Freo and Lions are 3 and 4 on the ladder after season.

Yes - Sort of. If Dees play a melb based team in week 1 and we lose , we have our next final in week 2 at our home ground MCG. The downside is that there are crossovers in the finals draw so that no team plays each other twice, unless the second game is the GF. Thus if Dees lose to a Melb team, that winner gets a MCG Prelim. The Dees, if we win in Week 2, will have to play the winner of the other Week 1 top four final, and if that winner is interstate, then thats where the Dees Week 3 prelim will be. The fail safe key is what happened last year- win in Week 1 to Prelim and have that at home (usually except for Covid issues in 2021) and let the rest take care of itself. really we need to be barracking for Blues as a top 4 chance , as well as us, to at least minmise the chance of an interstate prleim.

If they looked at whole Dees games this year they, like us, would have the seen the forward disconnect big time, with defence just keeping us in the game. Your'e right - we have the talent when fully fit and will have to this year. Many finalsist will fear a full dees list. But...... I see Top 4 now out of reach and making Top 8 will be touch and go. Youv'e nailed my fear Billy on this. In early 2000's after the GF in 2000 we lost Woey. No matter the reasons, at the time I saw this as an unravelling of a team by losing a much loved member. Clarry and Gus are these types big time, plus many others. They must be looked after as 1 Club players for the Dees I love Luke jackson but culturally he isn't the glue within the club like these two are. (and that's not meant to be disparaging to Luke, just that he didn't go through the hard times and re-bulld like many others.

Great post. Luke has been off the boil these past weeks and needs to justify the hype at present IMO. He has now been handed a gold-plated opportuniy with Max out. If we snag several of the next few games, against the tide, he will have absolutely locked away his potential and worth , if not, it may just then be hype. On the contray we need to look at all these 8 point games (we beat the Dons, they beat a finals rival of ours , the Saints) as a real bonus now its not absolutely certain the Dees can make the 8, and if we do this result helps us enormously re; ours finals position vs the Saints. I love optimisim, but I am fearing a 12 - 10 finish and 9th on %. If we make Top 4 it will be heroic and confirm this team as something really special. He can demonstarte self-defence etc., drinking rule has been dealt with by club, I didn't start it .....(as you have to exclude his comments, there's no rule with being mean and uncaring to others feelings) Unfortunately I suspect it's Jake who will cop something for throwing the first one, and the whole Gerard Whately hysteria of "...violence cannot be condoned under any cirecumstances (sic)..." etc. Drug abuse and alcohol abuse both have their origins in mental health issues. Smith and May are alike in that regard. It is stupidity, but its also more than that. The difference here is that Jake alerted the club immediatley, Smith owened up months later after beuing caught out with no other options open to him and the cirus and sponsors have bought into that narrative. Cotton On would have certainly weighed the effect up his marketing value before sticking with him.. Big deal.

The Match Cttee has shown consistency they will give players a few weeks to validate, or not, their selection. Why shouldn't Micth Brown have that chance. He did as much with less last week than Weid in the past and has good hands in marking contests which we lack at present. I agree with selection and your call rpfc for respect is timely on here.

I suspect your'e right on this aspect for Monday. Regarding the Herald Sun, I didn't hear of any investigation into the rumoured alledged punch-up by two of its senior journalists a while ago over who got a promotion and who didn't? Where was their outrage then? Mark Robinson said on AFL 360 this week that he understood the reaction of Melksham to throw one, qualifying it by noting to Whately that he wouldn't condone such a comment, violence is never the answer, etc, etc..... Spare me the faux outrage from the Murdoch media. And Gil ..... your shamefully watched the great Adam Goodes hounded out of football and did NOTHING. Go and sit in the corner as well and contemplate that as your legacy. The Club has handled this as best they could IMO. The players involved will wear the aprobrium for many years to come.
