Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Great summary gadson. I too felt the same. He used wording that never in a 100 years would come from viney gawn trac oliver .

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Therein above Binman by you is - if Angus leaves - the difference between our club (to some extent) and the much-maligned Cats , and more recently Hawks Dynasties. J. Selwood is another. Almost to a man those player cohorts committed to less, and do whetever the club needed, for sustained flag success. Angus may or may not have this mindset. We'll never know, but the Cats often quote this as a reason they won 3 flags. Even the recalcitrants like Matthew Stokes werer retained and rehabilitated. The Jackson go-home factor is fairly weak for a professional sportsman( or anything for that matter) IMO but I now don't see him as a cultural component of the club and he can leave anytime he wants.

The Run Home
Fair enough. I'll hold onto your phrase "...highly improbable..." for comfort

Have you enjoyed season 2022?
In the dees Team of the Century painting norm smith is addressing the players. On his blackboard he is pointing to a number of slogans. I think the last one is "...expect to win.." This is the first year after many when i have gone along to games expecting to win. It hasn't always worked out but like the freo game we were goals up at half time and never blown away. So yes its been enjoyable in a maschistic type of way. Good thread . Thanks

The Run Home
A great pice of work JTR and I came up with the same results points-wise , but added in the option to predict the points margins. Under our scenarios it has the dogs winning a few more to get 52 points, and Dees losing all and it will only take losses of say 4-5 goals and dogs winning by similiar for us to swap positions wiht Dogs to 7th and Dees to 8th on percentage. Right now I would take that outcome with downside being a SCG final

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Agree . The interview was frank and probably honest. Really understands this is his last payday opportunity. The saving grace is his approach to playing and giving it his best for this season. I think we won't see a call before season's end, but hoping not. The Freo game will tell us where the team's head space is. Its either a heroic effort like the swans (win or lose) , or the wheels will be off .

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Simple use of counterpart signatures. Done it plenty of times for millions with parties in different states. Its all theatre in some respects with these managers. Seeing his client in person is another matter.

just posted my correction.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
yes thanks. My mistake , wrong contract and apols to D11. On SEN Gus didn't talk down the backline position thing, and loves playing with the group. Just taking his time. Still not a posiitive look for a re-signing. Still he was correct in his view that this hiatus hasn't affected his game which is true.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
You must have mis-heard. last night D11 posted that the deal was "...Official..."

Farewell Luke Jackson
Looking forward to it mate.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Nailed it Jaded. Our cultural space is secure for the future. Jackson and Taylor will deal with that issue for everyone's benfit.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
Funnily I'm not fussed - he's potential only IMO and I trust Jason Taylor to get a deal that works for Max. AND we get to keep Brayshaw so arguably we have all the cultural keys in place for a reset for 2023. But I would hate to lose Pickett more.

The Run Home
Your right BBP but I see the Dogs as the only threat to 8th place if we go 0 - 4. Tiges and Saints getting there tiny/negligible rsik of occurring. With Dogs % will be vital and my run of the Predictor was based on worst case like blowouts of 50 points etc. If we miss by only a few goalseach game, and my hope is that our defence with Lever back gets into some form, then reasonable chance it will work, but as you say 0 - 5 at end of year we should leave the spot to someone.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
What on earth does this mean? "offically"??? You need to post better than this and context. To Whom, is it signed? Is he leaving Australia,.....? If not then its absolutely not official. Is it subject to a suitable trade etc.? Please advise better than the above.

The Run Home
Absolutely we can. Did it also with us not winning again. Dogs lose to the cats but win their last 3 which is very much possible, then dogs get 8th on % ahead of us on 9th. The nightmare is if Dogs beat cats then we are in trouble needing to win 2 more games to keep clear, not just 1. If we beat freo this Friday then we are completlly safe under any scenario. Lets hope this thread is redundant at 11.00pm friday night.

Numbers
Lats four game sin 2016 for the Dogs were : Round 19 Loss to cats at Kardinia park (so doesn't count) round 20 Win against Kangas marvel Round 21 Win against Pies Marvel Round 22 win against Bombers Marvel Round 23 Loss to freo Perth Finished 7th with 115% (hardly inspiring) FINALS, week 1 beat eagles in Perth, week 2 beat Hawks at MCG , week 3 beat GWS in Sydney (PF) Pretty heroic final effort really.

The Run Home
This quote from an AFL site commentary is laughable. Firepower - are you kidding? Clearly never watched a Dees game this year.

Our biggest issue is...
This is the conundrum. In our key losses we have been ahead by up to 5 goals well into the game. Freo, Swans, Dogs. Then its over and we fall away. For this reason, although not confident, we can still make the 8, there is reason to at least hope given there have been no beltings and the talent is still on the ground. Dogs must win 2 games, we must win one more game. Otherwise we're out on percentage. But on Friday, getting 27 points up some players seemed to behave as if its all good and game over. Sort of ".. we've got this..." The dogs to their coaching and team credit didn't see it that way. The recent Brisbane game tells me we still have it, but the talent has to perform all over the ground. The whole season I have been watching the team survive on 20-30 minutes of brilliance then relax (sort of) - Saints game was the best example of this year. Absolotely brilliant and powerful first half, then nothing much after half time. Not a top 4 attitude. I hope Goody and leadership group address this. I know Clarry will be. Jackson is a distraction internally, and realistically won't be resolved unless the team at least internally know the score. This will be Freo's demise if the purported deal proceeeds and I'm not fussed . Our keys are locked away, not on potentail which hasn't been on display this year in Jackson, but on hard results and history - Clarry, Trac, Viney, ......

NON-MFC: Round 19, 2022
I call this a 5 day break too. Finish last night at 10pm. Asleep maybe 2.00am sunday Break days Sunday to thurs only as at least a day lost travelling to Perth. Only a clear 5 rest days. Dockers played friday and home next day. No travel before the game. In what universe is this fair? We lose this I see the dogs taking our spot in the 8. Mandatory win one more game to ensure finals. Right now that looks tough.

POSTGAME : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
I feel this way also. Playing terrible 2nd half yet ahead with 4 minutes to go. The first 1/2 commentary was all effusive about the Dees and we saw glimpses of what's achievable despite holes and players down on form. There's enough to work on but the game goes for 4 quarters , not 2. Sadly Weid didn't take the chance offered him. Clarry is a star going in as hard as ever with courage. He just shows up what Luke is really worth by comparison. Not nearly as much, and on potential only, he sure isn't doing it now. Clarry was at the same age. Interesting few weeks.

GAMEDAY : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
If this is a joke - its brilliant. If its true - then also brilliant. Thanks

GAMEDAY : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Great pickup . Only 25 yesterday. We have 7 to 8 years at least of watching him play. A bit of trivia when looking this date up. In 2016 the Dees have 4 Rising Star nominations. Oliver , Harmes, Trac and OMac. 3 go on to be premiership players. Who would have thought back in Roosey's last year this was the future for these young men.
