  1. i was impressed by tom sullivan, kid has an amazing tank, highlighted by his chase and tackle, for holding the ball and goal, if only the kid was a little bit taller
  2. bartram was nearly our most improved player in the side this year, he really nailed that small defender role and was rarely beaten. he was and will be an important clog in our defense for years to come. his courage and hard tackling/chasing were real features of his game this season.
  3. John Meesen*: Once again couldn’t crack it for a senior game and finished off the year with foot surgery. Unlikely to keep his spot next year. closest to confirmation from the list assesment on mfc club site, but has not been delisted yet
  4. i agree on both accounts, as blease will struggle to make the grade, a broken leg is a long recovery, and although he is a good player it is tough to be able to still keep the form of before an injury, also with a midfield including, scully, trengove, mckenzie, moloney, sylvia, davey, jones, gysberts, morton, bail, grimes and new recruits it will be tough for all midfielders second meeson is a career that is over, but no big news there
  5. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/101642/default.aspx paul daffey on what we want both pretty good kicks, although ben jacobs is a gifted player, a bit of travis johnstone rings through on laziness, personally id hope melbourne could get caddy, absolute gun, i remember his attack on the ball and his kicking was pretty good over the carnival
  6. 1} Finals Football 2} Forward line, without injuries making it tough for selection 3} A back up ruckman for jamar to emerge 4} Consistency in our ball movement and disposal efficiency 5} To beat teams by big margins,
  7. realisticly could see him in a gig at essendon, although id love him at melbourne, due to all the coaching positions available
  8. bruce getting alot of the pill, but i hate it in his hands, he handballs to players in trouble, cant hit targets with his kicking, much prefer him to have lower numbers or use the ball better instead of causing pressure for his teamates
  9. also our forward line was well held although jurrah and wonaeamirri looked dangerous thehy didnt do enough watts didnt get a sniff dunn worse green didnt hold to his form of this season hawthorns defence held out, as well as their pressure from the midfield.
  10. talk of match up for hodge being dunn, i hope not, only as he has been playing in the midfield more so than the backline of late, i would like to see jordie mckenzie have a crack at him with the orders of do not let him get a sniff, beat him at the hard ball and make his day a living hell, and could turn into a good match up for us, or nathan jones similar situation, if hodge does go to that defensive roll then dunn to go to him, but dunn playing on him through the midfield would be detremental to the team, unless selection thinks this will be the match up then miller may come in.
  11. roughhead usually is able to do pretty well against us, i wouldnt mind seeing warnock brought in for the role this week, but i think garland would go to roughhead probably? and frawley too franklin, because franklin is notoriously their best forward and frawley our best defender rivers third man up will be important, one of the reasons that we convincingly beat richmond was the fact that we were able to back into the forwards space. the other important thing will be pressure in the midfield to avoid hit up passes.
  12. frawley to give franklin a bath and stake his claim for the all australian spot jamar to kick 2 goals and have 33 hit outs
  13. true i see where you are coming from, but i can also see the reason for him playing this week after winning the match for casey, it will be interesting to see how selection goes, and even though it makes a hard job for selectors, its good to see all players throwing their names up for selection, even miller who most supporters would say is past it. similar situation to when dunn kicked 8 goals but did minimal the weeks before at casey, except we had no one kicking goals then
  14. agreed its a tough decision, but surely after 10 goals and being in the leadership group he will have to get a gig. i dont know what will happen, i was thinking that jamar rucking solo in this match isnt to bigger loss, as hawthorns ruck stocks are pretty poor, but also it is a match where maybe miller could be able to handle a 5 minute stint in the ruck. dropping of paul johnson was what i thought would be the likely occurance for brad miller, but again im not selection pannel, but the core of my arguement being that it is performance based, 10 goals at casey should mean a match for miller this week.
  15. basically the team should be performanced base, i dont care if newton kicked 10 goals, or spencer kicked 10 goals, or in this case miller kicked 10 goals, he will play this week. another important factor is he is in the leadership group, but bottom line is miller will play this week, hopefully to the omission of paul johnson as i think watts being dropped would be pointless for his development, and he was important in the last quarter, even though he had little stats, 3 goal assists and what should have been 2 goals is enough to keep his spot.
  16. firstly, he practically won us the match last week, secondly who do you think he will match up on, as i feel this is the most important match up of the day. jones is partially dropped as a recovery week, but also i think because really there is no one who needs that really hard tag from richmond n their midfield, rather have him 120% for mitchell or hodge next week.
  17. I'm sure this isn't news to most people on the forum, but the poem that Rupert McCall wrote for the unveiling of our new emblem, is simply amazing. If you havent seen it, definately, should check it out in the mfc site, in bigpond videos.
  18. i do not think we have had a suspension this year, but i also think that we have had aggression at the ball from most of our players, if not all of them in recent times, jack watts sits in my mind as he has lately been contesting the ball on the ground well, or the ferocity in our tackling, like clint bartram on ben mcglynn, i think there is a very fine line between being stupid, and being aggressive, and at the moment, we have mastered it. we have seen some brain fades from aaron davey, the carlton match, where carrazzo and the rest of carltons squad where roughing him up and he gave away a few free kicks, but nothing suspendable. another reason why we probably dont have any suspensions, moloney, sylvia, jones, mckenzie(even though he is a younger player),when tapscott is playing he is a big boy too, who honestly would want a rough and tumble with a midfield like that, thus protection is there for smaller and younger players, such as trengove and scully, who do not have the weight on them. bottom line is, the best way to intimidate opposition is to play hard at the ball, and not get involved with any ra ra from opposition players.
  19. i love the poem on the site, how awesome is it
  20. this match up is going to be interesting in years to come, but i can see frawley smashing him in most one on one contests, i am more worried about the match up of newman and deledio, because if they get the pill in their hands near the wing in space, it will be hard for any defender to stop a forward. i think dunn will go to one of them as they have been playing in the backline, maybe bruce as well, hopefully we can stop these two, as i think that will get us the win.
  21. i can see wonaeamirri kicking 4 goals and cale morton to have 33 disposals, and top the posession count
  22. RD2 77.78 9 disposals RD3 90.00 20 disposals RD4 85.71 14 disposals RD5 92.31 13 disposals RD6 77.78 9 disposals RD7 81.25 16 disposals RD8 69.23 13 disposals RD9 90.91 11 disposals RD10 72.73 11 disposals RD11 50.00 10 disposals RD12 77.78 18 disposals RD13 78.57 14 disposals RD14 66.67 12 disposals RD15 88.89 9 disposals RD16 71.43 14 disposals RD17 80.00 20 disposals RD18 87.50 16 disposals bottom line is his average disposal efficiency for the year so far is 78.74 229 disposals, at 78.74% is 180 hitting targets, i personally dont think his decision making or his disposal can be that bad, and nor do i think i posted an unreasonable post.
  23. i dont understand why everyone pots his kicking, more often than not he hits a target, just because he doesnt have a 50m laser boot doesnt mean his kicking is poor. and im not saying he is the best kick in the team, but due to good decision making he hits targets and that is what you want coming out of the backline
  24. papers to rave about melbournes crisp ball movement and our chances of making the 8 as we overcome brisbane. maric to kick 3, and have 22 touches
  25. would you just like your tyres pumped? jk but i have been big wraps for both all along aswell
