  1. joined as good enough
  2. does anyone know where i can find shane woewodins, 5 bounce goal? round 5, 1998
  3. although i think they will play games throughout 2011, in my opinion blease and gysberts are unlikely to play the first match. i think with gysberts and blease, they will both most definately be playing vfl for the start of the season, due to the fact that they have both only just recovered from injuries, and i find it highly unlikely a bloke who played 22 matches in 2010 and was recently voted into the leadership group (nathan jones) will not make the squad for round 1 barring injury. my team goes something like this, but picking the team from a full squad is pretty tough as there are about 30 odd players who could be getting a gig. B: Bartram Frawley Garland HB: Grimes Rivers Bail C: Trengove Moloney Scully HF: Sylvia Watts Dunn F: Jurrah Green Bennell R: Jamar Davey Jones INT: McKenzie, Macdonald, Campbell SUB: Morton Could easily slot, Petterd , Wonaeamirri, Bate, Tapscott, Strauss on the field, maybe even Spencer.
  4. i know he ended up getting a disposal after it, but it was a joke. but he definately does shirk the contest, you wouldnt say that cale morton is the person who puts his head over the ball to give it off, but rather he is the reciever. none the less as i stated, he has the attributes to be a good player
  5. i agree and disagree, he is a possibility to be our best midfielder this season, and if he is then ill be rapt, but the other thing is usually our better midfielder starts on the bench, to aboid the tag, and see who will be tagging them for the match, even if it is assumed knowledge. this is also used so with the new interchange system so that players are able to get onto the field in time and be running solo. but this is not always true haha
  6. but all jokes aside, i think the main problem that cale has is the fact he doesnt put his body into the contests, and i believe this was one of the reasons why he was dropped during the season, and this is most likely due to his small frame. having said that, he should be a good player, he has all the attributes, a big tank, good height, good disposal, decent decision making, if he can just add abit of muscle or weight hopefully, and not be too scared of body contact he will most definately be a very good player.
  7. thankyou
  8. from last years one it would be interesting to see im bailey has a moustache all year haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SoafyhvEf0 could anyone place this years on youtube, i am in ireland and all the new aussie sport business is not playing.
  9. the match where we drew with collingwood highlighted to me, that an offensive, or attacking backmen, is where he is best suited. he held his opponent, yet he ran forward hard, and used the pill well, off the back flank. he even kicked a goal. this is his ideal position, hbf, but with an attacking instinct, that match him and morton rotated similar roles, and really were important in our draw. EDIT: side note highlighted with 7 1% i dont know if they were all spoils, but a good effort none the less.
  10. ripper pick was waiting to see when he came in, i missed a few days as i went to the beach but just caught up with everyones picks haha if he can shed the exess kgs he has on him over pre season, he will be a stand out player in their squad, im fancying a bet on him for rising star next year.
  11. im following it aswell, pretty interesting to see which players people pick up
  12. i believe that is with the release of kinder kick, not so much our new mascot
  13. it looks awesome, but safe bet the clash jumper will cause controversy
  14. if two leagues id have a crack too haha its a ripper idea, loving the current draft in other thread
  15. yes i was somewhat joking?
  16. dont like cameron johnson, almost looks smug, like hahah im going to be on tv or something, dont sign him
  17. funny
  18. on a bit of a light note, he is too small to leave, imagine if beamer or sylvia got a hold of him in the clinch for another team, bye bye scully hahaaa but seriously, he wont leave, firstly we are streets ahead of most developing teams, secondly we should be able to match contract offers other than those from gws, thirdly, from what i gather he is a really loyal and good bloke so im thinking red and blue is where he will stay.
  19. what i like about our forwardline is there is alot of variety, there is alot of players who can play in different positions, and there is alot of players who we can play in our forward line. the other thing i like about our forward line is the quality of disposal from most of the players up front, most of the players have a safe set shot, but also the bigger players are able to dart a pass to another forward, with increasing ball into our fwd half of the field this can only lead to more and more scoring oppourtunities and goals.
  20. cameron schwab said it is going to be a "cool" announcement, i am intrigued.
  21. yeh i did one with bartrams numbers and then they were also comparable to tom scully, jack trengove, and cameron bruce
  22. bartrams disposal is far from the best in our team and nor is it damaging, yet his disposal efficiency is pretty good this season, in most of his matches, and comparable with most of the other players. mind you he is not the first person i would pick coming out of defence, but his disposal has greatly improved and was usually able to hit targets. and i am not saying these disposals were damaging 50 m kicks, but rather short chips 20 odd metres to a player in a better position, or a handball to another player, but he is definately a player who works within his strengths, and knows his limitations. i agree, he should play 22 games this year barring injury, as he was rarely defensively beaten this season. i would not want bail in such a negative role, i can see him off the back flank, on the wing, or even as seen a few times this season on the forward flank, bail is a swing man, can play most roles, hopefully we do not rope him into a back pocket role, as i feel it would waste, what i think could be a game breaker in the future and even this season.
  23. i disagree, the club was clear that if his form waranted then he would get another year, he didnt back his chances, and decided to walk out on the perfectly reasonable contract offering. he was on the veteran list so we probably could have offered him alot more money than other clubs so i think that he just thought he wouldnt be able to stick with the standard of football coming through which says good things about our younger players. as an experienced member of the team, he would have played an important role this season, and even the next, if he was able to play a majority of the season, maybe 16-18 games i dont see how the club wouldnt have offered him another year? also, we dont want to clear out last survivors, 1 year contracts for over 30 year olds will be commonplace, and is commonplace in most afl circumstances, so expecting more was just silly and almost greedy on bruces part. dont get me wrong, would have loved to see him finish his career in the red and blue, but now that he is gone, i cannot wait too hurl abuse and cheer his horrendous kicking. NOTE: oops, sorry mods, dont want to turn this into another 16 page bruce debate
  24. ryan murphy from freo? tall forward 60 odd goals in wafl this year? not really local, but possibility?
  25. id be stoked seeing cheney and bruce get the ball in our forward 50, seeing as they usually miss team mates, we may get a few good passes from them, having said that, bruce could get confused and think he needs to kick it to a melbourne player and then hit a hawk
