My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched
DEE fence replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If your mad enough to hang around this site when there are infinetly more fufilling productive things you could be doing with your quite finite life, THEN ireckon your paid up (as well as your cat & dog) because you can't bloody help yourself. -
Fyfe last week i'd give two years worth of draft picks for that
-
You would think Hawks, but can their foot skills match Freo pressure, would love an upset, Pav for Norm Smith, and i think there will be the mother of all brawls, on a par with anything Kickett was involved in. Freo 18pts

What am amazing game, it scares me though, freo just came out with the equivalent of a new OS, we are two to three versions behind <windows XP anyone> I think freo, if they bring that game to the G will toch the hawks, and i have to say i have no hate for freo compared to the hawks, GO FREO, scar them for life. Fyfe across half back then switching forward i thought he was marking the ball like schwartz, Pav is up for it, sandilands was the rock of gibralter, their small guys were on fire, my o my rioli, hodge and mitchell will have some work, and for sure there're going to be reports, i tip 3 -5 minutes of fighting before the bounce. Lyon is a rolled gold genius.

I thought he had Stewie Lowe hands, was a great contested mark, his kicking I used to pray for, proof there is no god because everyone was praying for him to develop a kick. Does anyone really doubt Roos is not all over this decision? +1 welcome back Brad.

My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched
DEE fence replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I do wonder how many members have their membership 'paid' for by people such as us. I get four a year and my wife who is a recipient has been to two horrid games and just grumbles about the number of membership scarves we have flooding our little NY apartment. I wouldnt be surprised if the few members of Demonland made up 15% of the membership. -
MFC's Virgin Australia Film Festival Video

This is the (good) flip side to all the Mad Mondays and other behaviour that can go wrong with 'Brotherhoods'. I know for a fact that each player is only compelled/contracted for very few non sponser/ compulsory events and these get taken up very quickly - this is very much a player driven in terms of wanting to be involved and JW and NJ stand a few inches taller in my eyes for it. Not everything has to be about cash, taking time and showing respect have worth too. I think the club if it has a social policy (not sure will check) should put its cash into engaging with youth, its where with a young group of men (our footballers) you will get most value for the most people. There are other services to help these guys of which they are most deserving. And the former CEO may have been a bit of a nong at people management, but he would have made sure cases like this got game tickets and the club i know and love has always been good at looking after special cases (and i don't see why it would have changed with PJ. -

People who were spuds at Sydney became truffles, I love a good story about redemption and he made it clear he thought players were coachable, he was already delivering a message that he believes they can do it and it sounded so genuine. It would have been easy to say I need to do a rebuild blah blah and I need to sack a couple I think the only persons he ever spat the dummy with were Davies and Hall. But to my point, if you are a MFC player you have an asterix next to your name after being a member of the crew that has turned in 56% - the chance to get rid of that asterix - redemption - that Roos is selling is pretty bloody powerful, will work wonders, am betting on it. edit forgot to put my team in, i think Brisbane is dying for some KP players and Voss has made some good midfielders, they have some spare, and the other is Freo they still need fwds I wouldn't mind a Ross Lyon coached defender - : B: Colin Garland James Frawley (Paul Duffield) HB: Jack Grimes Tom Mcdonald Jimmy Toumpas C: Jack Viney Nathan Jones Jack Trengove HF: Jack Watts Jesse Hogan Colin Sylvia F: Jeremy Howe Chris Dawes Mitch Clark R: Max Gawn (Tom Rockliff (wish Jack Redden)) (Dale Thomas (if he is medically worth it big bickies for him.)) Inter: Dean Kent Matt Jones Jake Spencer

Am tipping training reports are going to be very popular over summer, in fact I think I just want to hibernate until round 1 2014, anything between now and then is irrelevant even the boxing day test.

Just watched the press conference, loved how he kept reinforcing 'what's right for the MFC' and talking about talent in the list and realising it, I reckon Watts will find something and stay. It also sends a great message that the coach is not about putting heads on sticks as an example but fostering belief. That said I'm such a sucker for this bloke I'd buy the Sydney Harbour Bridge if he was selling it.

If we play any sort of finals in the next 3 years then we need to put Peter Jackson's name on something permanent, this is incredible news and a stunning coup, i for one will be spending up big on membership and merchandise next year.

Major kudos this got a good belly laugh, have actually hada few at the posts today

Compulsory name change - for 3 months he can be Milne or something like that, annoying little faeces

(With toungue firmly in cheek, and my flail for self flagelation close to hand i say) Being the pre eminent team in Melbourne as Melbourne is what we do best, the 50's were not an aberration but a standard, until the curse of the red fox we were 12 premierships firmly in hand, switching from an amateur based club enthralled to the MCC did us no favours but make no mistake our place is in the September sun.

My post about tanking, where i took a legalistic approach to defending us, I now realize that what that did to our culture was terrible and just because others did it we never should have, i'm ashamed.

For ever and ever i will be greatful to PJ for managing this process, raise a statue, name an award after him, he moves into the same tier as McClelland. I really felt in the last two months that the club might have crossed some point of no return now with Roos (i choose to believe it's happening) i think we will have the coach that can deliever the right fit in or eff off speech to the list. And the sydney list was made by Roos, he truly got the most out of those boys and Hogan, Viney, Toumpas, Clark etc have all the silk we need, and will compare favourably or better(i hope for hall to be exceeded by hogan) watts to become goode(maybe 50% good)

If Roos comes to the MFC, I feel on balance I could cope with 2013 and the: Neeld coaching saga. Watts's on and off form. Opel sponsorship falling over (don't even raise the Energy Watch crud).. The CEO debacle. The president and board conundrum. The remnants of the tanking unbecoming. Trengove's tinea treatment. MC's foot. Other team injuries. Our general skill level. I was watching the open mike with RF on you tube and thought it was interesting RF's comments about how Swooper built on what Barassi did after he stripped all the paint and putty off the team, I'm hoping Roos can build on some edicts laid down about fitness by Neeld and Mission.

I like how you put this because I was choking on the idea of 2mil. but I would think the sponsors would get on board and he would bring dollars in as you say.

Its the players/coach, and excuse me but if the army can [censored] blokes into shape that are part of elite units in 20 weeks (admittedly most of them do 6-12 months of pretty intensive training before they try out) then our blokes can bloody well be humming after 24 months.

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
DEE fence replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is not news to anyone here but the arrogance of this lady to appoint herself some sort of moral arbiter is profound. I actually sympathise with James Hird because I'm so fed up with the tirade of abuse she hurls. She has become the ultimate lawn mower even beyond Patrick Smith. James deserves to be rubbed out and I think the penalties are about right (and wouldn't mind if they were harder because I hate Essendon) but please any bright legal ideas for getting this hag to shut up! I have often wondered what she has got on the fat controller as well? -
Kenya, Eldorat, now that is a place for high altitude training 9000' really gets the lungs going, fairly cheap. Loved playing against young fit blokes because after 15 min they would blow up, also when you play golf at 9k like at Limuru you get huge distance on the ball.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
DEE fence replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't help but feel as unfair as our penalty felt, the help we are getting now from the AFL (and lord knows i didn't want it) is part of a reward for not dragging our matter through the courts. -
Davey, one year contract as a super sub, he's a quality person, and if he had been protected better over the last couple of years ( we would have to be worst in the comp for shepherds etc) we would have got a lot more from him, idiots who complain about him sucking us dry need to remember that a guy that has never been 80 kg in his life is going to be vulnerable to attention.

MF, so bloody good as a writer I had a fleeting moment of sympathy for Hird, and that is truly amazing.
