  1. Do not let the media set the agenda, you are an effin idiot if you do, but the club should very clearly explain what it plans to do and where it sees development coming from.
  2. Norm Smith and Ivor Warne-Smith used to require physical separation on occasion over arguments about team selection. And they were friends, passions run high, thats ok. What is more important is solidarity at the club.
  3. 70% of threads since day dot could be rolled into this thread, that is some housekeeping...
  4. nah that just makes it worse ( I do get the irony btw :-) )
  5. Yes it did Costa was part of that success, this is what I meant by 'a no DH policy in both the team and the club' but MT spent a few years in the gun at Geelong while he turned it around, there was a 12 goal thrashing by Hawthorn that almost sank him. C&B I can't argue because I don't know, MN could be a waste of time, but time is what you have to give to see, we don't have conclusive proof. My point is we don't know any better than Geelong did, when by the skin of its teeth, it decided to let Thompson stay. We cannot let our frustration of 49 years since our last flag drop onto Neeld, game one into his new team with a new plan. All-though I have to say I'm not a fan of the zone defense at the moment.
  6. Mark Thompson had seven 10 goal losses in 2003, a couple of seasons in, everyone was calling for his head as they instituted a no DH policy in both the team and the club, and they started from a better position than we did. Give Neeld time (or just go and shoot yourself).
  7. He has the season, he doesn't own the crap that has passed before, on Monday I was 11 weeks, but have calmed down and think he has the season, nothing saved whatsoever to get rid of him now.
  8. I am so so heart broken by the game yesterday - but... Round 11 remains my deadline for the team to show me they are moving in the right direction, as much as I want to punish someone for the drivel shown yesterday we still need to stick fast as a team and club, one game is not the end, even if it felt like it. Neeld did not make the last seven years, this is his year and he gets at least half a season to show where it is at. Its not like we can do anything else. And I for one think with free agency, that salaries should become performance based, i.e. get rid of the 95% minimum payment threshold
  9. WJ, from a legal POV, there is barely intent, let alone a physical act to either assault or intend to assault a person here. There is comedy value in the thought of one of the brave souls on this forum, hiding behind an alias, having the heart to walk up to someone like Wayne Carey and taking a poke at him. It is I believe pretty obvious that 'Most Punchable Head' is strictly a metaphor for dislike of an obnoxious person, who happens to be involved in the game of Australian Rules Football, in a humorous fashion. Does the poll tend towards the puerile, yes it does, but that would cover half the polls and most of the posts on this site. I would also argue that not one of the people mentioned above would feel subject to any threat because of the vitriol spouted on this site, and if they did, for the sake of argument CW (who I must admit I couldn't vote for because she is a women...hmmm) felt threatened by this poll then a short apology. It is also clearly not hate speech because it does not discriminate on gender, race, sexuality, political persuasion etc., something that for me would be going far to far. RR I take issue with the fact I can't find Scott McLaren, Mike Shehan or Steve Kernahan, I feel gibbed, a bit like a Labor MP not getting a chance to vote for Kevin.
  10. I agree but you forgot to nominate someone
  11. I don't think Trengove and Blease are right either but would prefer to be wrong
  12. With the voting can we have a preferential system, too many good choices. either 1 - 3 or 1 -5. I have to admit I'm sticking with McLaren but there are some very good contributions
  13. I have to admit I'd be nervous taking a whack at this bloke, he might get his brother onto you and then you'd be in real trouble
  14. RR good one, I think I would rather use a fire hose 'Rambo' prison scene than get close. @ucanchoose don't lets go there it will be the longest thread in history.
  15. All worthy nominees, but this guy used to really irritate me beyond comprehension, Milne a worthy second, anyone that used to go after Robbie Flower I still have a serious hate for. The journo's CW, MR, & MS they are just parasites best burnt off with a hot needle, not worth a slap you just get bug goo on your good shirt.
  16. Anyone want to argue about this one? It's about time in my not humble opinion. http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/warne-smith-ivor-phillip-11969
  17. Its far from perfect but the best legal system by far, whether it should have been dismissed at the committal stage, yes witnesses were affected by alcohol, but it is far more appropriate for a jury to make up their mind about the weight of their evidence when there is five of them. Well done to the NT legal system getting this resolved, and I feel sorry for the cops that had to deal with this drunken mess in the first place and best wishes to LJ to finding some football happiness, how I wish it had been with us.
  18. It will take a generation for us to get over recruiting skinny kids
  19. Maybe I'm missing the irony but your posting on a fan forum...
  20. Please Please Please no Richard Craniums, that includes DM. DM is not just a lad having a laugh, he would be a snake in the grass we just don't need.
  21. keep the beard i reckon its why he came good
  22. isn't it a case of it equaling out over several years, and it's only to 95% that they must pay. I actually like the ability to front load contracts because we are less likely to be in a situation where the club ends up paying a player on someone else's list ( a'la Woewodin) if they don't perform. This of course will bite us on the arse when we become a successful club and have everyone coming out of contract at the same time... how i hope to have that problem
  23. bookmark the thread, if he doesn't turn it on this year you can serve a big dose of 'i told you so' and i'll cop it sweet. That said I'm not sure it makes a difference what the problem is, just whether he can get past it. I think your right that he's a bit timid, I just think if he still has the support of the coach then we might see this change. As for the list, if Sydney can do it we can too, (and I would vote for Neeld to be on the banner forever if that happens).
  24. Hi Old Dee totally agree as to why we've been toilet water, my comment about supporters was referencing all the drivel (IMHO) I have heard about players from supporters of all clubs, and that I don't think the MFC is particularly afflicted with daft supporters beyond the standard mean. I would say that 'the same passion created by five years in the bottom 6 with two last finishes.' has revealed a surprising level of stoicism and a justified level of cynicism amongst our supporters. That said, I'm on my second marriage, so am a proven optimist, and can add myself to the daft supporter list. Cheers
