Full Review of the AFL called for by Swans and Hawks
With luck we might get some people running the game who are outside of the old boys club that runs it now . It is vital over the next couple years to have no or low debt. Clubs like North Melbourne must be close to extinction. Makes the need to offer members something extra if they want reasonable numbers.

Farewell Mitch Hannan
They can have him, way too inconsitant. Plays a good quarter then vanishes.

Its called money!

Farewell Braydon Preuss
We have seldom played hard ball with players like him. I will be surprised if we don't agree to fair deal for both sides. We seem to have a good relationship with GWS I don't see us doing an Essendon and asking for way too much.

Why if it comes with a large debt.

Where does that leave Carlton, are they going to have there own seconds team?

But we have to want him and I don’t think he suits our game style. We don’t seem to be able to hit a leading Weideman let alone another of the same type. And why do North want him out so badly. Something does not ring right with this one.

It wasn’t him, trio of Michael Warner, Jay Clark and Jon Ralph. I think they are the only ones with deep enough pockets.

I wondered about that as well DJ. It entrenches the crazy system of the past when there were numerous weeks where players coming Back from injury or dropped for poor form could not get on the field to gain form or return from injury. Seems nuts to me but I have the feeling It is more about the cost of staging the competition than anything. Less games equals lower cost. In the world of 2021 I cannot see there will be the ability to fly around the country like in the past. I still struggle with the cost of having a second level competition that flys around the country. The cost would be substantial.

Of course it does depend on how badly GWS want him, if they are desperate for A ready made ruckman they may be prepared to pay overs to get him.

Isaac Smith
That is what I thought about Lewis and we ended up getting 2 good years and a reasonable third year.

Ok yes you are correct they offered and he did not take the offer.

Another not quite right, like Brown why after 12 months do North want him out. Both players have big dollar contracts You would think the only North will get rid of them is if they pay part of their salaries. A bit like when We wanted Watts out.

According to today’s HUN Essendrug are first in line for him. Looks the likely spot to me. The question is why after signing him to a big new contract do North want him out12 months later?

LN are you saying we will get pick 9 for Preuess? Not going to happen second round at best for an average ruckman.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
There will be no takers and I can see him walking away at the end of 2021.

Training Ground?
How? They have a team of good players that's what wins games not Wether you have a base near the MCG. They had that base for the previous 20 years and were cellar dwellers.

The problem is Bowls clubs are dying by the month in Australia. Some of them sit on very valuable plots of land. I can see the time not too far into future were there will be not a need for the Essendon Bowls club. To fund these projects you need Government help either State and or Federal. That I believe will be very difficult this decade after the Covid effects. Unfortunately we are seen as silver tails so getting a labour government already with problems up to their eye balls to make payments to the MFC looks very unlikely to me. It is not helped of course by our set in concrete desire to have the facility near the MCG. Any project in that area is a big money item due to the complexity and cost of it. I believe we are just going to have to suck it up with what we have at present and just concentrate on winning games. In the end winning games fixes most problems.

Training Ground?
In this covivd year of 2020 there is no government money for a silver tail club when we cannot even get the city working again. Imagine the wails of complaint if the government suddenly came with $10mill. For the MFC. Won't happen for another few years.

Training Ground?
There was if the bowls club had given up there site and moved else where but they refused. So the FC moved out. Have been there for Casey games over the last few years I can easily see why they moved.

We have survived without one for half a century. That is not the reason we will rise or disappear. It is the lack of wins pure and simple. All clubs went to QLD this year without a home as such. But still the teams with good player stocks are in the last 4. That is no accident.

I doubt we are any worse off than we have been for the last 5 decades . We are definately better off than we were 6 years ago. But for the small clubs the difference between survival and disaster may now only be one bad season.
