Jones stepping down from captain cannot come soon enough. He has been a momentum killer for near a decade. I have been very critical of his style of play and leadership since the Neeld days. Appears to play a very self satisfied game that does not care if we win or lose just as long as he gets his 20 odd possessions and a goal or two.

Can’t think of many critical comments for others than for him and occasionally Viney. Last player I was very critical of was Hogan. I am generally quite positive with the rest of the list. Those two deserve criticism because they are leaders who don’t lead especially Jones. If you could be bothered, feel welcome to trawl through my history and be proved wrong.

Not just round 23. He has been missing in most of all the last quarters this season.

Jones in the trenches? The epitome of losers mentality. The record speaks for itself. In all our last quarter capitulations this season he’s the first to go MIA.

What do we with his old man then? The Brexit Irish Backstop for Northern Ireland would be easier to sort out.

I guess that negates his four premierships and Norm Smith medal in 2015.

Last quarter of round 1 and last quarter of round 23 sums up his value for me.

Ex Melbourne footballers who want a viable successful career in football after they retire go elsewhere like to Hawthorn. Ex other club footballers who want a viable career in football also go elsewhere. Unless there is an overs pot of gold on offer to offset what would likely be a truncated career.

Yeah, Jones must have thought it was a contested marking situation. This season he has taken 0. Career 27 at 0.09% per game. Not his strength.

The rule of thumb for the past decade is that most negative rumours about MFC turn out to be true.

The highlight is that all our achievements for this season can be written on a grain of rice.

Tex is another selfish pseudo leader. Always demanding the ball, loathe to share it when he has it and his first instinct no matter where he is in the forward line is to take a pot shot for goal.

Its a strange hold he has over the club. Talisman for some and becoming a curse for others. It’s starting to feel like he’s a 103 year old demented uncle in a nursing home who has been burning up the inheritance.

If we are doing not so good by round six and his form is not so hot it would be an interesting “what next?” moment for Jones and the coaches.

We are the only amateur club in a league of professionals.

We have too many players that take it like a wet sponge already.

We did our best to claim the soulless rabble title but the Suns thwarted us at every turn.

Jones also missed the tackle on Higgins when he kicked the winner with a limp one arm effort.

Was also in Jurien for a few days this week to see the wildflowers. Perhaps a week or two early to see them at their best. Managed to get a tick though when hiking through the bush. Glad to see the eagles lose. I got taunted mercilessly by the in-laws after the prelim.

I now believe Gawn is the ideal candidate but conditional we play two ruckman. Today he was far more effective with Preuss to share the ruck burden with him WC and Brisbane have shown that the modern game can have two big fellas every game.

Please walk Jones. Take the money and sunshine.
