  1. whilst we have recruited Shows they aren’t yet convinced he can go the distance and be a long term prospect. But with their list they can afford to keep him on the periphery. No need to take a chance. Whilst we have had a good record of recruiting indigenous players the best have all been solid workmanlike types. We couldn’t keep Farmer because we didn’t put an appropriate monetary value on his talents. He was kicking five and plus on a regular basis. Bagging a star has eluded us. Charles, Wonna and Jurrah had that potential and Picket is in the same category. He’s only played one game. The test will be how he progresses next season and after.
  2. The clock is brought forward for daylight saving in the off season so we miss out on that. When it goes back to regular time in early April it sets our premiership clock back and adds another couple of seasons. Best to ignore daylight saving.
  3. Since our last premiership 55 years 20,103 days 40,206 clock cycles 482,472 hours 28,948,320 minutes Assuming we are currently at 5pm we are due for our next flag in 16 years. If we are at 5am we are due for our next flag in 39 years.
  4. Highly talented but flaky. Can kick a nice goal. Could never cement a permanent position. Though for different reasons is like replacing a Garlett with a Garlett.
  5. When it comes to draws we are equal last.
  6. Don’t get your hopes high. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/snap-shot-premiership-tiger-comes-to-the-four-20191001-p52wga.html
  7. Sad to see him go but with four other key defenders vying for a spot not surprised he may be going. What irks me is that he was one of few improvers this season. I just hope all the others just had an off season.
  8. Though a solid player, he lack the influence and gut busting burst to be a match winner at the death. It’s a joke to compare him with Dusty. Petracca has had a long time to get to those heights and likely never will now.
  9. Long overdue but since he has another season he has to improve his personal game if he wants to get to 300. He is not ageing like fine wine. I don’t believe he should be gifted games to get there. There is no defined position for him to play anymore. Superseded in the midfield, is not a genuine forward or defender and lacks pace for an outside role. Last season he faded very badly in most last quarters. Barely noticed in many unless he made a horrible clanger. Prefer to see him doing his bit at Casey next season.
  10. frosty ready to rumble.
  11. I prefer they get the first two picks. The higher pick the bigger the curse for us.
  12. Goal kicking is a mind thing. Lack of confidence due to combinations of other failures accumulated within the club over the years. When coaching starts micro managing goal kicking it only gets worse. When we see players like Melksham who is arguably one of our best kickers crap himself 30 metres out in front it is obviously not a technical matter. Everyone else does it too. TMac had backslided rapidly with his accuracy this season. Petracca is a coin toss from easy distance. Viney hits about 1 in 5 from easy distance. Whether by team rules or not we don’t see players take responsibility from long distance or angles like most other clubs do. Players won’t take a shot unless 20 metres out or getting on the end of a Joe the Goose. Poor on field leadership is largely to blame also. Who is responsible out there to keep players focused during the heat of the game?
  13. Oliver always had a booming kick but like many team mates is infected with the long bomb to nowhere mentality when he does use it. Has some work to do to get long kicking refinement like Daniel Rich has and Taylor Walker and Josh Kennedy have him easily beaten for long shots at goal.
  14. If Marlon Pickett came to us he would have been just another inconsequential nobody.
  15. We will overpay for him in any case.
  16. I was desperately trying to find a singing fat lady since around bye time.
  17. Many ways are learned through many years. Call it experience.
  18. Saw our game in Perth in round 9. We put in a good show for over half the game but as you say when WC went up a gear it was all just too hard for us. We more already less gave up the season then and there, That game summed up our whole shocker of a season.
  19. Pickett coming to a club that plays with no purpose would not have helped him.
  20. Richmond had a slow start to season like us. Pumped by GWS in round 3 and many injuries. They didn’t throw the towel in early.
  21. GC first. Melbourne second. Consolation prize for cellar dwellers.
  22. Well there is always hope, fa Frankly I give more credence to what Mick Malthouse has to say about us.
  23. He was a better captain than Jones. Unselfish player cruelled by bad luck.
  24. Good I hope it’s true.
