In the old days it would have been easier for the factions to be demarcated by the the Blue and Orange chair lift runs. One skied Blue or Orange. Since the concept of unity appears unacceptable the only viable solution now is for separate Mt Buller and Mt Hotham factions.
This tanking business is one of those truths that dares not speak its name. Every team in a position to gain advantage from it has done it. The AFL know all about it and turn a blind eye. Now the media are on or backs for it. Kick us harder whilst we are down they will. As the AFL is the be and end all of Football I doubt anything will happen. But knowing our dumb luck we could go down as the first club to be formally scrutinised or punished for this.
I'm not sure, haven't thought much about him. I liked him as player but looked a little stir crazy when coaching North. If he's keen he must be given a chance to show what he has to offer.
I think any coach who takes on us must ensure that their contract has a clause that states that meddling admin knows its place and be banned from going anywhere near the players or FD.
Jones is a valuable inside player but I'd like to see him think and act a little quicker when he get the hard ball. His first instinct seems to be to protect the ball rather than get it off quick. Takes him ages to figure out what to do with it next.
I reckon all those posters noted for their prolific quantity rather than quality of posts who who have been in denial for the past two years need a healthy dose of revisionism in their thinking.
Agree the fundamentals were correct and in hindsight perhaps would not have been good value for us if he stayed. Look at Bruce now, indifferent few games with the hawks and injured for most of the season.
I have issues with Grimes at this stage of his career. Whilst he has admirable qualities, his disposal and decision making is not up to scratch and been injured too often. I'd like to see a solid season out of him with fewer errors.
I think he should be more worried that he may not continue to be an AFL footballer next season. The market is limited for slow players with wooden skills.
He has been consistent in his inconsistency. Not good enough expecting big bucks just because he's been around more than a few years. If he can do better elsewhere then good luck to him. I wouldn't trust him with the big bucks up front.
