He may have but don't forget it was all doom and gloom at the cattery at the end of last season. Even their membership melted away dramatically in anticipation of decline. He's done a great job killing off that mentality.

If Ayres had coached Port Melb to a premiership then I'd give him a second interview. Been in the coaching caper for too many years with no results. Pass.
-
And be told this ailment has been affecting his form all season.

There won't be any self flagellation from me. I've written him off long time ago. Will mark the end of an Annus Horribilis as far as I am concerned.

There might not be enough energy left after the riot that's going to happen on this forum.

Bad season for the Indigenous players
John Crow Batty replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone knows what Mathew Whelen is up to? And any chance of getting him back into the club in some capacity? -
Only have to go as far as Dan Murphy's.

Can't drink scotch anymore. Gives me too much of a sore head like our club. These days I'm into like the TV commercial "el tranquilo" feeling. A fine Cuban Rum like Havana Club or Santiago De Cuba. Or if I feel like singing a few verses of What shall we do with a Drunken Sailor then Pusser's Navy Rum from the Virgin Islands does the job.

Bad season for the Indigenous players

Harry O and Nik Nat are not indigenous. You are getting befuddled by skin tones. -
Yeah, Chris Scott. But he's already taken.

This whole sage could have had an entirely different twist if when the allegations first broke and TS said into to the first microphone (assuming he allowed it) that was shoved under his nose something like "WTF, This is ridiculous. An absolute joke. I am a Melbourne player. I love this club and I intend being a one club player. I'll just sort out the details at the end of the season thats all." and walked away laughing his head off.

Bad season for the Indigenous players
John Crow Batty replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thats right. As a club we haven't had much luck with these guys with the exception of Davey (until recently) and Whelan. But there's a hell of a lot of indigenous players around who are or were better than these guys. I guess we all pin our hopes on Jurrah becoming a superstar but currently he showing some of the wrong traits that let down many other exciting Aboriginal footballers in the past. -
Bad season for the Indigenous players
John Crow Batty replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think it is relevant to talk about them as a group especially when their individual or collective performances and/or mindset is not up to scratch for the most part. Because their people have been uniquely under privileged in Australian society they have required different handling from other footballers to enable them to succeed. The AFL recognise their unique circumstances and have supported them greatly. They themselves are close knit and refer to themselves as brothers and certainly see themselves as different to other Australians. Our club has made a big deal about how Davey is a leader and mentor to our indigenous players. And there has been plenty of articles on how the club has gone out of its way to help the likes of Jurrah and Aussie in ways that would never happen for others. In an ideal world they would be considered as just footballers plain and simple but this is not a reality in the current Australian society when it comes to being an Aboriginal no matter what they do. -
Bad season for the Indigenous players

Perhaps I was a bit harsh in putting them all in the one basket but looking deep into the future I can't see much place for most of them if we want to build a premiership team. Jetta certainly needs another chance. Jurrah is still a required player. Young Lawrence is going through his development. I lost it with Davey after the St Kilda game. I wonder if things will change with a new coach. We have been hearing good things about what the club has been doing for these guys over the past couple of years but it irks me that none of the many indigenous players that are playing good footy are at our club. -
Nothing is going right with these guys. Davey-Poor form, injuries and has lost all his speed. Despite being a highly paid leader is not in best 22. Jurrah-Cruising at a lazy 80%. Gone backwards. Distractions back home. Is he playing with injuries? Bennell-No improvement from an inconsistent season last year. Jetta-Some progress till season ruined by injury. Wonnameri-Missing all year due to personal issues. Is he worth persevering with? I finding it hard to see a long term future for any of these guys.

I got the answer. Me as caretaker coach MKII. Tom Scully as the new captain. His father as the new CEO. e whatshisname and the chimp holding up the banner. We'll kick it six baby!

I wonder where Geelong go for their high altitude training? Perhaps peering over the cliffs at Queenscliff? But they did get pretty high after a dose of us though.

For Sylvia it may better for him at a team like the Swans. They are a no bull team and used to topping up. There he will be a a newbie amongst toughened campaigners. Here he is an old scallywag amongst callow youth. I've resigned myself to the idea that he's never going to deliver for us but in an environment like Sydney it may just be what he needs. I just hope we can get a good deal for him.

Let's focus on winning games again
John Crow Batty replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah just back to basics. Play honest football and let the new coach make all the hard decisions. Stuff the development crap. This has just put issues into players heads. -
I got fantastic news. Bananas are now only $9.99 a kg at Chan Phat's otherwise known as Fat Chance grocery in Victoria St, Richmond. No kidding.
-
Don't count on it. We will be talking about it until when he's "made a decision". They there will be the post Scully recriminations. Then there will be discussions on every high and low he has at GWS next season. Should be good grist for the mill for at least another 18 months.

I'm starting to get annoyed at all the comments that his family are not happy with this and that. Have heard them all season. Sounds like they may be like those stage/tennis mums and dads who meddle too much. And if anyone at the club did rumour monger and manipulate to get us favourable compensation then it would be a good thing it was done as it suggests he must know TS is gone and is trying to eke out the best outcome for us.

How about making the last 6 rounds of the season premium draft pick mini season? The bottom six teams at that stage get to qualify. The best performed of these bottom six for the remainder of the season get the first pick and so on. As the strength of these sides will be relatively even, the competition should be keen.

Kevin Sheedy's comments on game day ....
John Crow Batty replied to deestar's topic in Melbourne Demons
Unfortunately about 98% of the football public would agree with him.
