I believe if he ends up at Collingwood he will have to take a pay cut and shorter contract. I don’t believe Collingwood could take on his current contract aside from what they can offer us for trades and drafts in return. He would have to go there for love and not money unless Collingwood can insert some financial jiggery pokey in the deal.

We still are unclear what his motivations are or whether he has ultimatums he wants addressed about problems with other players, officials, coaches or game plan. Whilst he hasn’t said much publicly it’s clear he has been talking to the wrong people for a long time as rumours have been around since last season. No player is bigger than the club. Given his yet unresolved recovery and hitting 29 years old next season I don't think other clubs will be prepared to match his current contract with 5 years remaining at serious coin. Clubs will not be prepared to offer prime picks or trades as well without certainty. If he goes he will have to accept a lesser contract with conditions attached. If the club realises Trac is serious about leaving they may have to be prepared to cut their losses and let him go cheaply given that Gus has a lengthy contract and won't play anymore and there is doubts Oliver can honour his lengthy contract as well.

I said this before. Not 100% sure if it was about Trac but it was reported around the time he was drafted that the family of a player drafted by us went and complained to the AFL about their son going to lowly Melbourne when they wanted him at a prestigious club like Collingwood. We led 3 of the 4 finals early before being overrun late. We mostly had full strength sides except for Petty last season. We couldn’t shake off the opposition even once despite close games.

We did burn out badly in finals after very strong seasons in 22/23.

As I said before not many clubs would risk paying a fortune for a champion player who has suffered a very serious injury and his future playing ability is still unclear. We won’t get top draft picks and he won’t get top dollar as in his current contract with us if he goes.
