How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Great at tap work and bullocking but too fragile and never gained required fitness. We could have gotten Meek as steak knives in the Jackson deal.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Grundy’s ability has declined and is past his best but his ego hasn’t. Came to us with Number 1 star ego despite already being demoted at Collingwood. Slow developing hulks like Sweet and Meek who could never get a game have overtaken him. Darcy Fort is the consummate back up ruckman who knows he won’t get a regular game but always ready to give a solid contest when called upon. In hindsight we should have targeted unheralded back up ruckman like them who weren’t getting a regular game.

2024 AFL Grand Final
I can see this being a real do or die desperate hard fought grand final. No blow out this time.

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
His career was stillborn when first recruited by us due to bad luck and injury. Turned out to be a great defender for the crows.

2024 Brownlow Medal
I didn’t watch the Brownlow. Did Tracc attend?

2024 Brownlow Medal
I don’t think it’s fair on the umpires to have the responsibility to cast the votes on match day. They have just finished a hard job and need to get cleaned up, go home and look forward to dinner but need to make a quick decision on who to vote for. So the first names come to their minds are the midfielders who are always circling around them during the whole game. The whole process is like the winding down chores one does at the end of the work day without putting too much thinking or discussion into it.

2024 Brownlow Medal
Harley has become susceptible to a bit of niggle by opposition players. As the season wore on he has become more undisciplined, overreactive to close attention and arguing with umpires too much. In one game this season he set the record for the most free kicks conceded by a West Coast player in a game.

2024 Brownlow Medal
Petracca 189 games for 96 Brownlow votes. Oliver 183 games for 116 votes before this season.

2024 Brownlow Medal
Shame about Tracc’s injury. With Clarry not hoovering up votes this season, Tracc was destined to win it pre injury.

2024 AFL Grand Final
It will be more entertaining and stimulating reading the Demonland Brownlow thread tomorrow morning instead of watching the presentation on live TV.

Neil Erasmus
Similar to James Jordon who had trouble getting extended regular full games with us and then left. Erasmus was given very few opportunities this season. He might do better with a change of scenery. The only concern is that he looks a little bit soft.

How Chris Scott differs from other AFL coaches
Took Malthouse 9 seasons to win a flag and only made finals twice in his previous 8 seasons as coach. Took him a long time to get going. Goodwin has coached 8 seasons for 4 finals and a premiership in his 5th season. I would say Goodwin is way ahead at comparative chronological stages of their careers.

2024 AFL Grand Final
Looks like Oscar McInerney will miss the GF but they have a solid competitor in Darcy Fort to replace him. He wont outclass Grundy but is a good scrapper and has serious height at 204cm.

NON-MFC: Preliminary Finals
Swans not much better. We lost 17 of the past 23 games against them including the 2022 QF and only 5 wins plus one draw.

2024 AFL Grand Final
The Demons gave Fagan his break into big time footy.

How Chris Scott differs from other AFL coaches
Scott started with a club that was well run, wealthy, highly successful and benefiting from AFL and State Government largess. Goodwin had to start with a club that was still crawling out of the bottom of the swamp after being on life support for the previous decade.

Brayden Preuss - Delisted
He should look for career with the WWE.

Melksham set for 2025
Melksham’s field kicking is amongst the best in the league. Not so his set goal kicking unless he takes shots from ridiculous angles.
-
NON-MFC: Semi Finals
We would have had to put up with at least another 3 seasons of Hogan being a distraction hoping he would come good. His behaviour in his last game for us was a disgrace. He failed worse at Freo after he left considering the huge effort and resources they threw at him and the go home factor was supposed to make him happy. He was never going to be any good until he shed his internal demons and grew up.

Christian Petracca
And too much Oliver oil.

Melksham set for 2025
Is he the last of the suspended Bomber drug scandal players still playing?
-
Bailey Smith
Jack Steven had more than a handful of great seasons. He was a brilliant powerhouse midfield player not too dissimilar to Clayton Oliver. His decline was rapid.

Farewell James Jordon
His performance in the last quarter against GWS on Saturday was excellent. Was a prime mover in the Swans comeback with some brilliant plays and serious grunt work around the ground.
