I can see the AMW moniker will be here for a long time.
-
But just about every other club were already corrupting the medical sub system that season and the AFL did bugger all about it.
-
Petty and Langdon missing easy shots that would have put us nearly 5 goals up lost it for us
-
OK, I’m sorry!
-
Those two goals that Tmac got in the GF were in junk time.

The player can start wide of the mark and run an arc but has to kick the ball over the mark. Cameron did it all wrong, he started behind the mark but ran wide and kicked over grass and air.

Looking forward to a real tough entertaining game, plenty of soft tissue injuries and lots of argy bargy and suspensions.

Bizarrely every team which has beaten us except the Swans and Collingwood's narrow and lucky escape against Norf have been soundly flogged the following round. We made them look far better than what they actually are. Kind of a barometer of how low we have sunk so far this season. The mind boggles what this coming round will offer up.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
John Crow Batty replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
I guess it goes against human nature for two massive egos honed by many seasons of elite success to willingly defer to each other. Hindsight would have shown that Grundy was never really going to be happy being a second fiddle ruck or forward given he wasn’t going to accept that arrangement whilst still at Collingwood. It appears everyone was struck by naivety. One of those dumb left field ideas that turned out to be a dumb left field idea. Collingwood and Swans turned out winners whist we lost big time in the Grundy saga. -
In the last minute two frees to Norf were missed, a 50 metre penalty was missed. A hack kick out of defence by Collingwood went straight a Collingwood player. Two shots at goal by north within comfortable range were missed. Seems to happen all the time. Umpires and luck always goes with them.

Just [censored] off we couldn’t get him on the park whatever the role during the finals last season. Why did it come to why he could not play? Cost us big time. -
Umpires need to have low fibre diets before matches and wear adult diapers so they don’t [censored] their pants in tight games.

I thought he must have been a mature age recruit picked up in the mid season draft.

Remember 1998, when we lost in the Preliminary Final
John Crow Batty replied to Farmer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Big blowouts used to be more common in the old free scoring days. Most great sides put in a stinker or two in a season. These days of high professionalism they shouldn’t happen to accomplished sides unless something NQR. -
In less than a month we get smashed by the former worst team in the comp, get smashed by the most fickle side in the comp, get smashed by the most undermanned side in the comp and next game against another former worst team in the comp. I think we will win that one.

Only James Jordon’s second ever career contested mark over Stewart for that goal

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
John Crow Batty replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was at the WC game and we were seriously bad. I said here after the game that I found it very disturbing the way we played. It was as bad as we could be against a consistently very poor side. ATM we are in Limbo, neither here or there yet. I still hope we can get back on the right track. -

Thats right but it is a worry when we have had three of them already half way through the season. -

He was OK in the last quarter when moved to defence. He is an opportunist forward and needs consistent good ball supply to shine. Still our best forward and irreplaceable on our list. -
No need for unnecessary noise. Besides no one on the board can play a key forward role.
