  1. In which case we should be taking a lot of positives from the result. To play so poorly and still lose by just 3 points to a team that is likely to finish top 4 - 6, shows that once the match day cobwebs have been completely shaken out, we will be pushing all teams in the competition and will easily make finals. (if we lose to Brisbane I will be coming back here to delete this post )
  2. “Like meatloaf through a straw...”
  3. Then perhaps you could explain what “tard” refers to? Having a mentally retarded family member, I do find it quite offensive, regardless of what your intent may or may not be.
  4. I think my comment was made some time in the second quarter or at half time (can’t recall). The first half was absolute shite! Admittedly it did improve in the second half.
  5. This game is almost unwatchable... ugly ugly football.
  6. Great first half, but it lost all of its appeal in the second half. Carlton couldn’t hold it together and gave the ball away far too easiy, while Richmond couldn’t kick to save themselves and showed glaring holes in their defence. Couldn’t take much away from that game in terms of indicators for the rest of the season from either team.
  7. Can we please have a new forum added to Demonland... perhaps call it The Chicken Little Forum (MFCSS is so passe)
  8. I seem to recall reading somewhere that like TMac, Viney's issue is with his toe - that is, unrelated to his original foot issue. So for those going on about his facia issue being mis-managed, you may be off the mark. This appears to possibly be an unfortunate coincidence.
  9. You have to be joking?? Firstly, the article states that it was unknown whether the gunman (student) shot himself or the armed officer shot him as both weapons were fired simultaneously. Secondly, by arming teachers you are placing them in the position of being the first target any shooter will be trying to take out of the equation. Teachers are not trained for face to face combat and therefore there is a good chance they will be unable to carry out their newly acquired responsibility. Thirdly, if a teacher does manage to avoid being the first shot and then is seen by armed officers holding and firing a weapon, are the officers going to enquire whether the shooter is in fact a teacher or are they going to do what they are supposed to do and take the gunman down? Arming teachers will NOT save lives... in fact it will likely only add to the toll.
  10. Wow!! He was into everything wasn’t he.
  11. Actually, ALS is a subtype of MND. https://www.alsmndalliance.org/what-is-alsmnd/
  12. This exactly! When all is said and done, we can only play the team they field. It’s swings and roundabouts as there’ll be times when we will be missing a star player or two, so we should be happy when it’s in our favour. I don’t celebrate the player’s injury, but I do celebrate the fact we have one less match-up to consider.
  13. Oh it’s PASSION... and here I was thinking it was just whining about irrelevancies.
  14. I watched The Shape of Water on my flight to Taipei on Tuesday... I thought it was brilliant.
  15. The only thing that surprises me about this is that it has managed to clock up 4 pages as a thread... seriously, why do any of us care about what ANY media pundit has to say, good or bad?
  16. Yet you seem to think that organisations such as the BOM will somehow benefit? There will always be weather and they will always be required to provide analysis regardless of the patterns... that is why they exist and nothing will change. Denialists just seem to go into meltdown because impartial organisations such as the BOM and NASA have something to say that doesn’t suit their agenda. And if, as you say, those companies have a diversified enough portfolio so as to benefit from other energy sources, why do they feel the need to bankroll supposedly high profile scientists, to support the denialist stance?
  17. No ET, I finished up there in the early 90’s... 15 years was more than any one person should have to endure. ?
  18. Haha... I worked at the Dept of Veterans' Affairs when it was located at 444 St Kilda Rd back in the late 70's... one of the few remaining houses was next door... it was a bright green massage parlour called The Gentle Touch. I recall one time 2 young guys trying to get their mate to go in early one afternoon... they looked up at our building in horror, and suddenly ran off in the other direction as quickly as possible; all 10 floors (or whatever it was) must have had crowds of people lined up at the windows watching.
  19. I'm not denying that possibility DC, but I do find it interesting that most conspiracies are directed at institutions such as the BOM and NASA, while it is the fossil fuel industry that stands to lose far more (much like the tobacco industry in the past).
  20. He lived out Ferntree Gully/Belgrave (or was it Kilsyth?) way didn't he? I really only remember him from Pick-a-Box... I know he was Science Minister but I didn't follow him too closely.
