  1. Yes, I am resigned to re-signing every year :-)
  2. Maybe it's more appropriate to pass on condolences at this point in time and not to speculate about what may or may not have been the cause of John's untimely passing. Can't those sort of discussions at least wait until later?
  3. Definitely not the same...our John Singleton (aka Singo) is the entrepeneur (read, [censored]) who brought us such advertising highlights as "Where do you get it???" and the wonderful Delilah. Doubt he could manage a film longer than 2 minutes and filmed in super 8 (at a stretch).
  4. So, is that your take on it? You are saying he actually said he was retired but you read that as meaning "anything but"... or did Green himself use those words? I think he will get involved again, but not as a player. I was interested to see him attend the Dees v Freo game in a minor assistant coach role; I am hoping that this means he may remain involved with the MFC in future.
  5. Tne best way to avoid total disaster, is to look directly ahead and around you instead of trying to move forward while looking only in the rear view mirror.
  6. A Hawthorn v Sydney GF would be fantastic... Hawks with their pinpoint kicking skills and the Swans with their unbelievably tight marking... will be a close run thing.
  7. Do you seriously think it's that simple? Put yourself in his position and then see where your priorities lie. It's easy for us to criticise LJ simply because he didn't publicly acknowledge the MFC's assistance... but I'm pretty sure if I were in his position, the MFC might be the last thing on my mind as well. Maybe once the dust has settled and he is established with his family again, he might then make some kind of a public statement. And for RR to criticise RudeBoy for writing that biography and question his credentials as a writer (it is in fact a well researched and well written book), is well beyond the pale... I wonder what he would have been saying if LJ was not leaving the club. Those are some mighty sour grapes you're chewing on there RR!
  8. -- and to put it in context: we give our money to the club in good faith expecting them to use it wisely; --
  9. Did I say anywhere that that was not so? In fact, I said precisely that... that we give our money to the club and trust them to use it well. That doesn't mean we should expect a public thank you from Jurrah, or a public apology from Scully or anything else... that is between him and the team/admin.
  10. Selective quoting is not the best policy. Maybe you should have included the rest "the CLUB has poured the money into LJ, NOT we members...we give our money to the club in good faith expecting them to use it wisely; as long as LJ has thanked the club (and none of us know what dialogue took place), then I couldn't care less whether he has apologised publicy or not." You are right, the club is it's members, much like the govt is its electorate... however, like the govt, the club acts on our behalf and uses their best judgement.
  11. Intercept Tippett (sp?) en route to Queensland; worked with Clark.
  12. This is what I have an issue with... the CLUB has poured the money into LJ, NOT we members... we give our money to the club in good faith expecting them to use it wisely; as long as LJ has thanked the club (and none of us know what dialogue took place), then I couldn't care less whether he has apologised publicy or not. Should the MFC be coming out and publicly apologising every time a high draft pick doesn't work out? Did they make a public apology to the members over Scully's defection?... No!
  13. I could actually see that rant fitting nicely into Jesus Built My Hot Rod
  14. I still think the banner should comprise the coach and the leadership group. Edit: and maybe Jimmy Stynes should have a permanent place to the left of the Demonland logo/MFC "coat of arms".
  15. Jeeeesus!! Damned if he doesn't and damned if he does.
  16. Short clipped sentences, expressing the same extreme sentiments as the OP... I feel like I'm witnessing a real life version of the Three Faces of Eve.
  17. He heard it and a number of us saw tweets from journos... and by the way, 138 posts doesn't exactly a veteran make.
  18. I might be wrong, but didn't Cloke almost single handedly drag Collingwood back into the game when they were under all sorts of pressure, during last year's finals series?
  19. Your mail, or did you see the @ClarkyHeraldSun tweet "Angus Monfries to Melbourne. Four year deal. Rival clubs convinced it's happening."?
  20. Well, I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to Cook leaving... it would have been nice to see him given a go, but now I look forward to seeing what the next step will be with Williams. I also get the feeling that once Watts has served his apprenticeship in the back line for another season, I expect he will be moved forward again.
  21. Sorry, that's what I meant (have edited accordingly).
  22. Again... how do any of us know that he and the club haven't already had this discussion and he has indeed said thank you. Why is so much emphasis being put on a "public thank you"? Surely it is between LJ and the club. Sorry, I don't subscribe to this idea that because we are members, we need to hear a public thank you because our contributions have helped support him... as members we should accept that our contributions get channeled into wherever the MFC thinks they should go at any given time,
  23. See DCs post above... he is entirely correct in what he says about LJ not actually being an elder/leader.
