And if enough members were to end their memberships with his appointment, I suppose the dip in revenues would be termed the "AS hole"?

Opel going ... we will need a new major sponsor.
hardtack replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe we could get sponsorship from Alpha Male Health...then we really could be the hardest team to play against. -
I agree with most of what you say, but the bolded line, maybe not... I think it was more a case of a team on its way up passing a team that is all but down for the count. This is no surprise considering the picks they have had, most of which have 40 games under the belt. We'll bounce back, but currently our list is almost as inexperienced as theirs, but without the benefit of the two compromised drafts.

But that is just it... there was no song and dance on Scully's part. He lied, yes, he avoided the issue when confronted with it, yes... but not once did he create a "song and dance about it"... that was the whole media circus and the likes of us here on these forums. And as for this "he lied to Jimma" line... what was he supposed to do? Could it be possible that he didn't have the heart to tell him he was going because he didn't want to add to his obvious worries? What would any of us have done in the same situation? I'm no fan of Scully's (I'm one of those who was certain he would stay a Demon), but I really think people need to get over this whole thing; I think it's quite reasonable that he says what he likes about us if we supporters are still giving him a hard time every time he takes the field against us. Give me one good reason why he shouldn't?

Along with the brains of those MFC supporters who simply cannot let go of the fact that he left? The irony of some of the commentary in this thread is incredible.

I have already experienced mergers and folding three times during my time in Sydney. When I moved here, I thought I might as well take an interest in rugby league and started with Newtown who folded a couple of seasons later. Then I switched to North Sydney Bears who were merged with Manly Sea Eagles...Manly we're reinstated as a complete team a couple of years later and Norths disappeared into the ether. My last team was South Sydney Rabbitohs who folded (were dumped) and who were resurrected a few seasons later and are now doing quite well...but if I follow anyone now, it's probably the Storm. The only positive I could take if the Dees folded, would be that I could view games with total impartiality and save myself a lot of angst; but it would leave a gaping hole in my life having been a dedicated supporter for approx 58 years.

Well, there are two ways of reading that... He may be simply making an observation and advising us not to expect miracles from whoever is to coach us next year, or he could be covering his own backside in the event that he takes on the role.

Of course OD (was an EH man myself)...but in terms of the topic of discussion, I thought my version was possibly more appropriate.

Funnily enough I got the same feeling...it was almost like he was thinking out aloud.

You're correct, it's bigger than I thought at 160m... 5m shorter than the MCG and 7m longer than the SCG.

Yes, they mentioned on Foxtel that there would be a statement at 7:40pm (my son told me they said 'announcement'...and who am I to disbelieve what he says).
-
True, but as I said in the intro comments, this is a small ground... so if the likes of Garland, McDonald, Terlich etc can run it out of defence, we stand a better chance of getting it into our forward 50, even with a substandard midfield setup. Or maybe I'm just being a little too optimistic.

Opel are withdrawing all operations from Australia.

Is this some kind of a cryptic thread or are we all supposed to know who your golfing mate is?

The one game we get up here and I can't go because I am time keeping at my son's game for the Newtown Swans... have to set the FoxBox to record so I can watch it when we get home.

Looking back at round 4, it is interesting to note that Clark played but contributed just 1 goal and there was no Dawes then either; our main contributors on the scoreboard were Howe (4), Evans (3), Byrnes (3), Gawn (2) and Pedersen (2). Evans this time is a non starter, but with Watts now playing forward and Fitz involved, they should make up for his 3 goals quite easily. I'm not too concerned.

That's his partner Sam Blades. I think he has a hell of a lot of potential as a photographer and am glad to see him applying himself to it. I get the impression that he is the kind of person that knows no half measures when it comes to the things that interest him. So, when he is back to full fitness, he will be fully switched on to the job at hand with the MFC. -
Yep, they sold off the digital and printer side of the business, but continue to operate... just.
