  1. Ok, so who out of Stevens and Shehan is the most reliable rumour monger?
  2. You can see it how you like, but I don't consider it a cop out at all - how can it be a cop out when it is the coach, not the player, who makes the positional decisions? It is difficult to show much in any one position when a player is moved from one position to another on a week by week basis between stints in the 2's and when not being played purely in a tagging roie (this is what happened under both Daniher and Bailey). Dunn showed his first real signs of settling last year when he was given a good run in the backline by Neeld.
  3. The fact that he has never been given he opportunity to settle in one position. It has been discussed many times over the years on this site.
  4. Yeah, yeah, I know... we all say things we later regret, but the question as to whether it might be an impediment still remains.
  5. He was consumed by Edith Massey, the Egg Lady!
  6. Actually, I would have thought that tells us more about the coaching than the player.
  7. that went through to teh keeper... sorry :-)
  8. mjt - I suggest you go back and read over some of your own posts. BB... I agree, but my question was what will we do if it becomes a sticking point.
  9. I hope that any deal the club is trying to broker with Roos is going to include an arrangement that will allow him to continue his work coaching at the QBE Sydney Swans Academy... I understand that this is one of his passions and would hate to see it become a show stopper. Edit: I know it probably seems like a conflict of interests, but is it something that might be an obstacle in getting him to coach us?
  10. Dawes has only just turned 25 in May, so I am not sure why you are saying he has reached his potential. Are you saying that he will not continue to improve as 25 is some magical number where a player plateaus? Can we expect no more improvement from Jones, because like Dawes, he was born in 1988? Dawes has this year been given a chance to really reach his potential in a forward role after the Pies had him performing mostly ruck duties in 2012...not to mention the fact that he spent 7 games on the sidelines as a result of a broken knuckle. Of course he is not going to being scoring bags of goals when he is virtually the sole forward option and is therefore heavily marked by the oppositions' best backs... let's just see what he is capable of when we have Clark and Hogan assisting in the forward line. Let's not forget that he played no small part in keeping the Pies in the drawn GF and then kicked a couple in the replay... we need players who can respond when the chips are down and they are really needed; and that is exactly the kind of player Dawes is.
  11. Don't worry, some "hard working" journo will probably wander by and take it up, while claiming it as their own ;-)
  12. and there's also the option to simply not open the topic if the subject does not appeal ;-)
  13. In all fairness, this topic was at one point discussing the merits of getting HO to the Dees if there had in fact been an irreconcilable difference between HO and the CFC.
  14. I like the following line from Roos himself in the "Dees bid for Roos" article in Real Footy today: "I think it's got to be someone who you can sell to the members immediately because this is the hard thing for the Melbourne supporters - they may not win next year.'' Maybe it's just my blind optimism, but to me that almost implies that he is covering himself if we fail to set the world on fire in 2014.
  15. Buckley also said ''I get the impression everyone thinks he is a basketcase. He has been through some things that I couldn't imagine what that feels like. He has carried these things for a long time and he feels by sharing them it shares the load a little bit - that's what a footy club is for.'' From that I take it that he considers those who do take HO as a "basket case" are the small minded pea brains; so, once again I get to use my late mother's favourite axiom that "we tend to see our own faults in others", and apply it to you mjt.
  16. Well, perhaps the issue here is that you wrote your response as if you were addressing the poster (Grimes Times) and not the email extract: "They were BAD judges !! Time will prove that... How old was he and who are your sources ?? Name them..I think Wayne Carey was arrogant and N Buckley AND many others whose names would take up a full page.. By the "biggest whinger" do you mean size and weight... Just "arksking" Fark .. Give the guy a go .."
  17. WADABOUTAWATERBOTTLEWADDLE - explanation here
  18. The club turned 155 years old today... surely we deserve a decent gift..
  19. The problem is that I don't think some of these posters are being sarcastic... they really believe what they are saying about Harry needing to harden up, or that Harry is an attention seeking media w hore (that word is worthy of censorship???)... it's a sad reflection on where society is going.
  20. Jackson... but never mind the pollocks
