  1. He does actually... before Nathan Jones suddenly lifted his game about 3 (or 4?) years ago, he was lambasted on these forums as being slow in speed and slow in decision making, was too often caught with the ball, had terrible delivery by hand when he did manage to get the ball away and was one of our worst kicks. Many posters wanted him gone.
  2. Not what I meant. I was referring to the fact that many wanted Jones gone and then he got his act together and has not looked back since. I can see a similar direction for Fitz.
  3. Watts has had an armchair ride to the top level and Fitz has had to overcome so much with the odds stacked firmly against him, just to get a game in the AFL...he could be our next Nathan Jones like success story.
  4. No OD... generally it's the flakes that do the battering on here ;-)
  5. Or like Jamar, he could become an asset that we might later batter.
  6. I thought he was one of the three musketeers.
  7. Not entirely true... he needed Jack Watts' help on that one.
  8. And who could blame him... there were some pretty vicious slurs thrown his way. I for one, would love to see Rudeboy posting on this site again.
  9. I knew you were responding to RF's post, but unless you were trying to justify your choice to lean right, why would you feel the need to even mention it? And why always refer to the intelligence of those who follow the Libs... or rather question the intelligence of those who follow a Labour govt? Those are traits shared by people on both sides of the political fence. Sometimes (well, often actually) I think you mistake arrogance for intelligence. And sorry BH, Howard DID lie... he rode an election on the iron clad guarantee that there would never ever be a GST and then, yes, just a couple of years later he "changed his mind". If as you say, he was a true believer in tax reform, he would have believed in a GST all along, not just had a sudden epithany - in other words, he lied.
  10. It was a lie to ensure the party retained power, followed by a calculated gamble that almost lost the party power - but it seems you have no truck with a lie when it is initiated from the "right" side - no surprises there. And what does it matter which "side" I am on... you seem to be the one interested in creating division based on which party someone chooses to follow. Just as you somehow try to justify your right wing leanings by "claiming" to come from an ALP background, my father was a staunch "rusted on" Liberal...big deal - totally meaningless and irrelevant!
  11. I would say it's probably a toss up between Terlich and Jones... Terlich has been let down by his errant disposal and occasional poor decision making; but he can only get better next year (after all, they were the main complaints against a young Nathan Jones). I know a lot will nominate Viney, but I don't think we have seen anywhere near his best yet... it's a shame he didn't get in more than 11 games thus far.
  12. So, you are off to Hosier Lane then? ;-)
  13. Conversely, if he is serious about changing his life, the structures in place in an AFL club such as the MFC might be exactly what he needs to enable that.
  14. I would love to see it happen... give him a contract with a zero tolerance clause in the event he steps off the straight and narrow. Would be a great story and would possibly be a real morale booster for the rest of the team considering them seem to still regard him quite highly. Nice photo of an LJ hanger in his return game in the NT.
  15. Do we really have to turn this into another thread full of bickering... please everyone show a little respect! I would like to think Flash will get two full games to play out his career, as the MFC has nothing to lose by doing so, and there are others who can make way for young blood. Hopefully he will came back in some sort of mentoring/assistant coaching/development role - and by mentoring, I DO NOT mean mentoring our indigenous recruits, I mean all and sundry, as he has so much in the way of skills he can impart to our newer players.
  16. I actually feel for him as I'm sure he would loved to have been involved in a finals tilt in his first VFL season - particularly considering that Casey's position is in no small part due to his contribution on the field... so, not good in my opinion.
  17. Fair enough.... politics & religion (sigh)
  18. Yes, but there is also word that GWS are trying to get him to stay on as "Football Manager" or "Manager of Football Operations" or whatever the latest buzz word is.
  19. Love what you have done with that JV image C&B... you really should use that as you avatar.
  20. Yes, if that's a direct quote RF, then that is completely unnecessary. People need to remember that when all is said and done, this is just a forum!
  21. That doesn't mean it was a popular platform... in fact, Howard did use the pledge that he would never ever introduce a GST, ensuring a solid '96 election victory; yet a mere 2 years later, he introduced the "never ever" tax with the result that there was a swing of approx 4.5% or so against the Libs in the '98 elections (where Labor received more of the primary vote).
  22. I don't think it was a result of that "one game"... you will probably find it was because that extremely disinterested looking performance came hot on the heels of his comments on the Footy Show. I didn't think his comments on that show were anything to be overly concerned about, but I do have to admit that after seeing how he followed them up in that game, I am now of the opinion he is there in body only. I am also wondering whether that performance might have been influenced by any responses he may have got to his FS appearance from his team mates etc.
  23. I notice your guidelines say: "Tone – Constructive, inclusive, accessible and generally positive." I fear you may have come to the wrong forum ;-)
  24. Caught the American version of the film Shall We Dance the other night on Foxtel (starring Richard Gere), so I decided to drag out my old DVD of the original Japanese version last night just to see how closely the remake managed to follow the original. While Hollyweird actually made a decent fist of this film, the Japanese original is still streets ahead. I really love the way the Japanese produce lovely feel good movies that manage to have a degree of quirkiness about them... Shall We Dance, Tampopo, Family Game and so on.
  25. I think you will find that part of the discussions between he, Neeld and co, involved him not being required to play in the ruck.
