  1. Could be wrong, but my recollection of Laidley was that he was a 'B' class coach, but an 'A' class whinger.
  2. You better top-up... your glass appears to be half empty ;-)
  3. ...until the end of 2015 (at least).
  4. I was thinking the same thing Even Gawn has remarkable agility and crumbing ability for someone so tall.
  5. If you do a bit of searching, you will find some posts by those who seem to be in the know when it comes to sport injuries of this nature. I think it was Webber who gave a fairly detailed description. If I recall, the general consensus was that if it is corrected, then the injury will not happen again.
  6. Not entirely true DA... Roos is head of coaching at the Sydney Swans Academy, so he is keeping his hand in. However, if he decides he doesn't want to coach the MFC in 2014, then the chances of getting him any time in the future are virtually gone because whoever we get will be on a minimum 3 year contract and there is no way the AFL would tolerate us paying out yet another contract because of an early termination.
  7. So you managed to go from IF Roos goes to West Coast, to saying he IS going because of the bigger money... all in one sentence (I think)?
  8. What's to "go figure"? He also stated that he is not interested in coaching at present... that was not a statement limited to the MFC, but about coaching in general. What he said is entirely correct for any coach that has the fire in the belly; which unfortunately, he doesn't appear to have at the moment.
  9. True... but if they are asked the question, why not give the complete answer rather than just half... surely they would know it is pertinent if a sporting body is enquiring about the use or intended use of a substance.
  10. Surely they have a moral obligation (if not legal) as the ramifications can be pretty disastrous. If they have simply told them that it is not on the banned list and they have not gone on to provide them with a "However...", then they must bear some of the blame.
  11. Christ, I hope ASADA/WADA don't get a hold of this!
  12. And when will you realise that there are some who do not pray to the money god? Perhaps Roos is not driven by the almighty dollar (he would already be very comfortably well off), or perhaps he is... we will find that out soon enough. But please don't try to apply your standards to everyone else.
  13. That was certainly the impression I got, yes. However, as I also said earlier in this OTC discussion, the fact that I have committed to that point of view probably means that he is a cert to coach the MFC in 2014... my predictions do have a habit of biting me in the ars e.
  14. You get no argument from me over that line... however, as I said: "What he cited as having been said to PJ three weeks ago, WAS his position at that time and what he said last night IS his position in the here and now." There was a lot said before the PJ discussion comments came up in the banter between Healey, Shehan and Roos; and that is when he said no, he is not interested in the coaching position at the MFC next year.
  15. If that really is the case, then I would assume that the "conditions" relate to who Roos would want on his coaching team and may be dependent upon our ability to pay out any existing contracts and our ability to pay the incoming replacements - this would obviously be decided by the value of the AFL's assistance package.
  16. Did you watch OTC? If you did, you would have heard his responses to Shehan and Healey's direct questions where they put it to him whether he would be coaching the MFC next year, and in light of the fact that the bookmakers will be heeding his answer - he clearly stated that he has no interest in coaching the MFC next year (no "at the moment" was used at that time - I assume you got that from pitmaster's post). What he cited as having been said to PJ three weeks ago, WAS his position at that time and what he said last night IS his position in the here and now.
  17. I would have thought that saying last night that he has no interest in coaching Melbourne probably equates to his not being interested. Yes, he didn't completely rule out coaching next year, but that does not necessarily mean that it would be the MFC.
  18. What we are demanding will have nothing to do with Roos decision. I hope that we get him, but watching him last night I got the impression that the OTC joke is wearing thin and that he is genuinely not interested in the position next year... and if he doesn't take it next year, he is out of reach for at least the next 3 years. Last night he mentioned nothing about conditions other than the fact that money is not going to be the deciding factor.
  19. There's really nothing to be confused about... he will definitely not be coaching the MFC next year. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and now that I have committed myself to that view, there can be nothing surer than Roos coaching the MFC in 2014.
  20. Well, I was just paraphrasing the words he used... he did say "no interest" and he did say money is not the selling point. I was hoping we would get him, but I seriously do not believe we will get him now based on those comments; and the club simply cannot afford to wait for him to make a decision at the risk of losing other potentials. And GrimeisGreat... he said that he had spoken to no-one at the MFC since he spoke to PJ.
  21. Roos just categorically stated that money is not the deciding factor and that he is NOT interested in coaching Melbourne. Also stated he has not spoken to anyone at the club since he spoke to PJ 3 or 4 weeks ago.
  22. Nice to see that senile dementia hasn't taken over completely... here it is courtesy of The Yarra.
  23. Wasn't it mentioned as an aside in one of the game day or post game day or Casey threads, that he was possibly going to be playing at Casey soon? Might be wrong, but I'm sure I saw something.
