  1. Can I suggest you up the Lifetime Membership to a nice round $100, and then all previously subscribed members with Lifetime memberships could treat the $40 difference as a donation. Just a thought. When you think about it, $40 is really just a few cups of coffee, so shouldn't hurt too many.
  2. Maybe not this week as it will no doubt have a msg regarding breast cancer awareness, and depending on the outcome of the appeal, perhaps the players should run through that at the Tigers game?
  3. I was actually thinking that frame-by-frame footage should only be shown to determine the point of the impact... when it comes to the amount of time a player has to react and take evasive action, the tribunal should only be allowed to pass judgement based on watching the replay at normal speed.
  4. Would love to see all supporters of all clubs showering the grounds (for their respective games) with marshmallows... maybe pink ones at the MFC v Bullies game?
  5. All players from all clubs should wear black armbands... this goes much further than the MFC.
  6. I have it on good authority that Nerf are about to be instated as major sponsor for the AFL in 2015 and that Sherrin are to be replaced as the official ball manufacturer... this was after it was brought to the attention of the AFL that such an upgrade would result in a dramatic reduction in the number of finger injuries being suffered by players.
  7. May not be him, but whoever it is is followed by Jack Viney and James Frawley among others.
  8. And also one game and percentage away from 18th. Yes, you're correct about us improving, but until we can string consecutive wins together and build the players confidence, we are unlikely to progress too much further up the ladder. Playing good footy is one thing, but coming up against a team like Hawthorn is something else... that is something that can quickly sap the confidence out of a team and leave them floundering for a couple of weeks while they regroup. We are a chance against the Bullies and the Tigers, but if we stumble there, then there's a very good chance we will be in for a lot of pain over the following weeks when we meet Port and the Pies who are both playing much better football than us... and I mean chalk and cheese better! Nice to have finals aspirations as supporters, but I think the players and coaching staff have a slightly more realistic view of where they are at, and I would imagine that even they would not be upset if they were not to play finals footy until next year... as has been said more than once in this thread, the team are taking on each game as it comes.
  9. Well, I for one was talking him up right from the start as it was patently obvious that he had a hell of a lot of potential... as is often the case on these forums (and Demonology), many were prepared to write him off too soon. I recall I was laughed at for daring to compare him to Chapman... and now, despite the fact he is a different type of player, he is showing many of those traits as he has improved his awareness, disposals and his accuracy around the goals. He did improve, you are correct... but he was always going to improve.
  10. And let's not forget he was massively underrated by Demons fans up until a couple of years ago as well.
  11. I realise that JR...I was just referring to this particular game and thread. I thought Byrne played a pretty important role in us winning by locking up opposition players and ball at times when it was looking like Adelaide we're going to run over the top of us. I haven't seen the replay, but that was certainly the impression I got in real time watching of the game.
  12. I actually think Byrne is be a little maligned in this thread...he may not have won a lot of possessions, but in the last quarter when it counted, he held the ball in our attacking half. Not a brilliant game, but an important one all the same. Definitely not as bad as some make out.
  13. Such a talent, such a t-shirt and more than a passing resemblance to one Todd Viney in the head department.
  14. When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you!
  15. ? The above shows him listed in the Scorpions interchange, not Development league (or am I missing something?).
  16. There's another 17 clubs you can follow if you feel that way... the club today is light years ahead of where it was at this time last year.

  18. Who was it got the corky in the buttock late in the game... Vince? How did he pull up?
  19. Yes, if he doesn't take a break, he'll go blind and then he'll be of no use to the club at all!
  20. I think we should stick with him... but having said that, if things keep going the way they are on both sides of the country, we might be able to do a straight swap for Nik Nat ;-)
  21. First let me preface this by saying that I have absolutely no knowledge of injury management (let alone physiology, etc), but... is it possible that injury management doesn't even come into the equation on this occasion? Is it possible that no one injury is ever really the same and that recovery will be dependent upon the individual concerned's physical build, genetic make-up (some people seem to naturally heal/recover more quickly than others), mental approach etc - I imagine that injury management will never be an exact science and that there will always be some that will not recover as expected.
  22. 6 Pederson 5 Dunn 4 NJones 3 MJones 2 Vince 1 Cross
  23. Pavlov could have a field day with MFC supporters and conditioned responses ;-)
  24. Funy, I just looked at the ladder and West Coast and Saints are both top 8, GCS is 9th... if Roos had all of Dawes, Hogan and Clark from the opening round, the scenario would be very different. To say we are failing is flawed as the game plan obviously cannot work to full effect with a major part of it missing... as was evidenced in the improvement upon Dawes return.
  25. Will answer as best I can. There was no one standout for me, but Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Black Sorrows, Elvis Costello and the North Mississippi Allstars all blew me away. Unfortunately I didn't get to see John Butler as he was on stage immediately before the Dave Matthews Band and so it was just far too crowded to get in there. Instead, I went and watched Greg Allman Band who were on stage immediately before Jeff Beck. My personal mission was to get as close to the stage as possible so I could get the best possible photographs. I heard some Kate Miller Heidke but didn't get close to the stage as I went there after watching another act elsewhere... what I did see and hear was excellent. Saskwatch didn't really do it for me... good, but just not my "style" I suppose. Tim Rogers I saw twice and thought he was excellent on both occasions. He is one very funny man and as a bonus he had Shane O'Mara playing guitar with him. The babe onstage with Jeff Beck? I think I mentioned it in the photo's caption, but just in case I didn't, that was Joss Stone... she sung I Put a Spell On You. That was the final number of Jeff Beck's set. The biggest surprises for me were the North Mississippi Allstars, Nikki Hill, CW Stoneking, Valerie June, The Paladins and the Backsliders. Also were many excellent old blues men and stallwarts such as Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmie Vaughan, James Cotton and Greg Allman. Also enjoyed the Magic Band (Captain Beefheart's band) and the Grandmothers of Invention that had a couple of early members of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention (Napolean Murphy Brock and Don Preston). It was just so big that it was hard to keep up with everything. Had a great time and the camping facilities there are great so, I was able to enjoy it with no daily commute. Hope you liked the photos.
