  1. Totally agree 'AdamFarr', We must not have high expectations in this, his first game of AFL. 10 would be fine with one of them producing a classy goal or goal assist.
  2. I'll go for 67,777.
  3. Good one 'joeboy' you don't always sum up in 3 words! One word does it all. Very clever. Let's hope young Jack gives a good opening account of himself against C'*##d. Maybe your 3 word summing up will be, " A promising debut" . I hope people don't condemn him if he doesn't shine. We have to give him time. Good luck Jack!
  4. Living in Perth, I would love to beat the Weagles in a 100 point thrashing. Might just keep them off the Back page for a day or two. You should read the crap over here,eg. Back page headlines, "So and so of the Eagles in doubt with a split finger nail on his little finger" and so on and so on. And some of my Melbourne mates ask me, because I now live in the west, if I now barrack for the Eagles! Ha funny ha! Once a Demon ALWAYS a Demon!
  5. The report on our clash with Hawthorn mentioned that "with minutes to go" Buckenara kicked a goal. I think that should have read SECONDS to go. If I remember correctly, when we missed our chance of the match winning goal at our end, there was just 15 seconds left on the clock when Hawthorn kicked out. Anyone verify or dispute this?
  6. That's correct. On Melbourne website, Bennell being rested.
  7. Sad news indeed. Don Cordner was a fine player and a real gentleman. Sincere sympathy to the Cordner families.
  8. True, but how many times do guys get away with it with much more forceful contact? Such as a blatant push in the back? Brock was stiff. I hate the new rule even though I support a definite push in the back as a free kick. A guy backs into you, what are you supposed to do with your hands? It's just a natural reaction to put them in front of you to protect yourself.
  9. Hope you reconsider your situation 'Petjudhome'. As I said before in a recent post you bring a lot of sanity and fair-mindedness to this forum. Keep expounding your thoughts without criticising other posters.
  10. No, you are not JJC. I get very sweaty palms every time we kick the ball in. A short pass in front of goal is just not on. Poor Rivo must have felt the size of a 2 dollar coin when he mucked up his kick in. The goal to WCE as a result together with McLean being penalised for a very soft push in the back after marking 30 metres out were the two defining factors that eventually cost us the game. Brock hardly made contact with his opponent. A terrible decision. BTW, I didn't think the umpiring was too bad although one bloke had better do some homework on his bouncing of the ball.
  11. Robbo and Bate in our best? Don't think so!
  12. 6. Jones 5. Johnson 4. Bennell 3. Bruce 2. Morton 1. Moloney
  13. Kane, I was at the night too and it was a wonderful evening indeed. We had Paul Johnson at our table. He's a big boy when you are sitting next to him! Later, we had Bater who was a friendly, but quiet lad. Spoke to Aaron Davey and Brock as well as a few others. Aaron was very happy with his form and condition and is hoping for an injury free season. Brock is a nice guy, very relaxed and friendly. Kane, the ex player you couldn't remember was, I think, Mike Collins. His brother who played in the late 40's and the 50's was the late Geoff Collins who made the 150 Heroes list. The other old players at Ron's table were Ken Melville (B&F 1953) and Trevor Johnson, both 150 Heroes men. Naturally had a chat with Ronald Dale. He was easy to talk to and even asked me if I reckon he hit Richmond's Roger Dean. (Barass got 4 weeks for the incident and missed all the finals that year). I was a bit vague with my answer so Ron quickly changed the topic. Looked like he was still trying to clear his name! We had a pleasant chat about the old days. Congratulations to Joan Lawson of the Western Demons for the fantastic evening. Now to bed so that I can be fresh to cheer the Dees on at Subi tomorrow.
  14. Delayed broadcast in Perth. One hour behind real starting time.
  15. 'petjud', don't put your keyboard away. You breathe a bit of SANITY into this forum. I wonder if the posters on Essendon's forum continually poke muck at its older players such as Lloyd and Lucas? I really doubt it. I guess YM has poisoned the minds of many here with his bleatings.
  16. Jaded, I hope I'm very wrong here but your rudeness to me with your 'putdowns' has all the trademarks of you being an intellectual snob. You rarely reply to my questions and if you do manage to lower yourself, it is done INDIRECTLY as in your recent reply to your mate 'Queen C". ( She certainly sticks up for you doesn't she?) Please take on board that some of us already have University degrees and diplomas. You claim you never rubbish Bruce but apart from saying that he has good aerobic capacities you never find any other praise for him. How about coming off your high horse and answer my questions in my previous post to you. I guess this will test my hypothesis.
  17. Thanks for the advice GRANDAD! I stick with my opinions thank you very much. You have said nothing to dissuade me.
  18. Not true if it is the same player being criticised for every single action that is not perfect. You would think that Bruce's high tackle was the first ever done by an AFL player. He hardly ever gives away a free kick but WOW, when he does all hell breaks loose. Petty, petty indeed. Negative, negative.......
  19. Could you please explain your 25 great years at the bottom of your post '45hotgod'. Seems a bit of a mixture to me.
  20. A very stupid question! No I won't be disappointed because he WON"T be dropped.
  21. Yeah, from all your on field experience you would KNOW he should have nailed his opponent! Ever heard of evasion or baulking? Geelong are not too bad at these facets. 'Half- hearted' indeed! You really are no better than YM on Mr Bruce are you? I don't knock any of my team because I BARRACK with all my heart for Melbourne. Look up the meaning of this key word and maybe, just maybe, you will realise the futility of bagging the guys that are representing the team you claim to follow. Just what good comes from your bagging? Do you really think the MFC selectors are going to influenced by ANYTHING any of us might say? You are dreaming if you do.
  22. I too was disgusted at the number of ads during the game. They must prove to be counter productive as who would buy into anything that was thrown at you ad nauseum. Isn't that Ultratune ad the weakest, most boring ad you have ever seen on TV? I disagree though about the commentary team as I thought Dennis Commetti and Tim Watson were singing Melbourne's praises quite a lot. They seemed to say the right thing about some of our younger blokes too and that the future was bright for us. Dennis, in particular seems to have a soft spot for the Dees.
  23. One just average game (against Geelong) and the rest good ones. Open BOTH eyes pal! Stupid thread and one that has been done to death!
