I can see what you are driving at. A 1 point winner receives 4 points the unlucky loser nothing! Not really fair but that's how it has been for over 150 years and that's how it will remain.

Hi Vagg, we champion half forward flankers must think alike! I don't think Bennell shirked it. I believe he heard a call from Newton to leave it and as a result he half pulled out of the marking contest. That's how it came over on foxtel anyway. It seems everyone has forgotten about his very COURAGEOUS mark in the goal square where he could have easily head butted the goal post. No, no mention of that one from his knockers. He had a quiet first half, but in the second he was very, very good. He will be a great player for us.

I agree all the way. Far too many grizzle guts and doomsday posters in Demonland. After ONE round they had written us off!!!!!! Now look at them jump on the bandwagon and salute our great performance today. Next week we lose, maybe, and they will get out their little hatchets and once again will chop up the team they are supposed to BARRACK for!!!!! I saw a big , clear picture of our FUTURE today and it looked BLOODY GOOD. Young guns starting to fire supported by the old heads in the team. It's funny that only Cam Bruce creates turnovers isn't it? He had 23 possessions @70%. Not up to his usual high standard of play but hardly 'horrendous'. No mention of turnovers or poor disposal of other experienced players.eg Junior 21 @57%, Jonesy 18 @ 50% and Davey 17 @59%. I wonder if Hawthorn supporters rubbish Luke Hodge with 34@65%. Must have been a few turnovers there I reckon. I guess everyone likes to find a scapegoat when the team loses.

In retirement Woey remains a Demon not a Magpie. He even had his kids in Melbourne colours a few years back. My attitude towards him when he left us was simple. Just a point of order. Greeny hasn't played 200 games yet or I've missed one and a half seasons. I think he's on 197 games. Still very experienced though.

We can only but improve when we can bring back Bate, Wonna, ,Jamar, Bruce, Davey ( For a full game -not a half), and Dunn. Also, Expect Jack Watts to show some spark this year and Sam Blease could be a useful inclusion mid season onwards. We were very ordinary today while Dockers had a real day out. They played above themselves. Watch them come back to earth with a crash next week.

I agree here with your thoughts. I believe a big factor influencing our improvement will be NOT PLAYING WITH THE BRAKES ON as was the case in many of our games last year. Simply we will be out to win every match. I also think that a fit Wonna and the experienced Joel MacDonald will lead to us having a sound if not fantastic season.

Don't scream too loud Jaded! I am still very happy with Jack Watts as our first selection. Still not sold on Nik Nat. After all who did he beat in the ruck last night? Nobody of note at all. Wait until he comes up against the Big Russian! Jack Watts for me!
