Bailey has just today announced quite clearly that he won't be trading ANY senior player. He wants to go for youth and keep his draft picks. Good on him! My thoughts exactly. You must have a good blending of experience with youthful enthusiasm. Guess his stance today puts to bed any further discussion on possible trading. YM will be disappointed.

I've seen a few but on 3.2.1 system mine are: 3. Ronald Barassi. He was the greatest of them all! Never beaten. Could compete in the air against the big guys and on the ground with the smaller ones. 2. Robert Flower. Class all class. 1. Don Williams. The most attacking half back flanker you could imagine. A brilliant mark and a real dasher.

I too think that young Maric will be a superstar. He has a great football brain and is quick. I also believe Martin is a talent that will shine in 2009. Cale Morton too was excellent today. Can't wait for the new season!

Read Clint Bizkit's comment. If he didn't call Bruce a dog he certainly implied it and that is just as bad although sneaky. 'deginerates' ? Can't find that in my dictionary. I will defend any MELBOURNE player if I think he is being unfairly criticised. Anything wrong with that?

When did I ever say Bruce or any other player was above criticism Jaded? My point is that there are a few minority posters who lay the blame on Bruce every single week. When did I say he was our best player? As I have stated before you are among the group who denigrate some players on a fairly regular basis. You have your pets obviously, such as Mr Mclean. Please be fair and objective.

I've only been an MFC member for 53 years. Guess that makes me less of a supporter than you. Negative criticism does not help Melbourne improve, particularly personal stuff calling Bruce a dog and the like. As I have said, the players don't read your rubbishing comments so how does that help in the long run? I also liked your reason for criticising Bruce for his COSTLY error. How does one goal when you are 12 goals behind make any difference?

As in all learning there is a plateau which sometimes lasts forever, but once the climb upwards commences it is all go,go. With our new draft picks I am very confident we will rise rapidly next year. It teaches young kids that to be a top AFL player you have to overcome adversities and show pure COURAGE. I have been unfortunate enough to have had Cam's injury and I tell you it is not pleasant. It takes a lot of guts for him to run 15 kilometres each match in much pain. Try it pal! That's assuming you can run 15 kilometres of course!

Read Yze Magic's comments on Bruce before he was banned or more recently those of 'Goose'.( Under the thread title' Disappointed with....'). Completely aggressive and the perfect example of player 'bashing'. It is interesting so far, that not one of the player bashers has tried to defend or justify himself/herself. 'Nicho' too has in the past been most offensive with his comments.

Now I am ASSUMING we all barrack for the same team on this forum. Sadly, there are a few who seem to delight in denigrading our players. Not just constructive criticism but really nasty, personal, insulting stuff. The great majority do not engage in this type of behaviour and back our boys rather than dragging them in the mud. Sure, people have a right to voice an opinion about how a player went in a certain match etc. But the personal, incorrect insults are not desirable postings. Do these slanderers really think for one moment that the given player or team management are going to EVER READ their inane thoughts? Any player would be crazy if they read the rubbish that is posted here. And if by the remote chance they did would they say, " Gee, so and so reckons I'm not a footballer's bootlace, I'll have to address that!" If a poster in critical mood really wanted to make an impact they should send their ravings to Dean Bailey and co. We are all disappointed when we lose, but don't start a witch hunt on a couple of players when we do. Let's be united on all fronts and see our beloved Demons rise up the ladder.
