  1. Yeah this isn't a statement about women's involvement in football. They are crucial to the game's success. But commentary just doesn't sit right.
  2. The North/Etihad curse continues. Was a spirited resurgence in the 3rd term though.
  3. Maybe I'm just not open minded enough, but it doesn't help when she gets players' names wrong and repeatedly uses footballing cliches..
  4. What's your take? Personally I'm not a fan.
  5. Freo at $3 to make the Top 4. If you'd said that at the beginning of the season they'd be calling for the men in white coats.
  6. Bar us playing Richmond in the GF, we're still on track for this prediction...
  7. His cool, non-phased demeanour suddenly seems alot more impressive to everyone now he's winning games. Myself included.
  8. We normally come up against them in rivalry round don't we? This is the first time in a long time where I would've looked forward to it, although their shamozzle against Carrrlton may have been the wake up call they needed. I shudder to think what they are going to do to the poor old Tiges. I feel total indifference towards North, aside from the fact we can't seem to beat the pricks.
  9. Cheers all.
  10. I also noted in that HUN article by Rod Nicholson there was reference to Aaron Davies. Okay Frawley hasn't been around long but come on.
  11. Am about to go to Europe for 2 months. Beautiful timing just as the team is clicking into gear but what can you do. Fully realising this is a long shot, but does anyone know of places/ex-pat pubs to watch the footy in say London, Paris or Berlin? 2 months without at least a small fix will be tough.
  12. Caco do you mean the Magpies club? If so I'd give that place a miss. Doubtful to be many (if any) Dees supporters there, but Eastlakes is another good option.
  13. I don't think Josh Kennedy quite deserves to be listed with that lot.
  14. I was at that match and as a nonpartisan onloooker (well, taking away the fact that I 'll barrack for any team playing the Pies), it was one of the most amazing things I've seen at the footy. Pies fans around me were having what could only be described as a religious experiences..
  15. Another Canberra Demon here. I'd also suggest the Ainslie as the best venue. There was great support there for the match against the Lions. Couldn't believe my ears when the Lions fans behind us were having a cry about our team being stacked with priority draft picks. 5 rounds in and they're having a sook. Incredible. But I digress. All Bar Nun also usually put the footy on the big screen and that has a good atmosphere.
  16. 6. Frawley 5. Jones 4. Moloney 3. Trengove 2. Bate 1. Grimes
  17. Fev isn't unlikeable. He's just very, very loose. No need to talk about him now anyway.
  18. Rugby league fans and commentators alike fully accept that the scrums are a farce, and many would like to see them done away with altogether but otherwise couldn't care less. Likewise I'm pretty sure many would argue the leniancy towards the forward pass adds to the "excitement of the modern game". So neither of these things are contributing to the game struggling as far as attracting fans imo.
  19. I lost my respect for rugby league a fair while ago, but this is a particularly sad story as far as how it will affect the players, fans, and the innocent parties associated. Hard to see how the club can survive this. And not not playing for points this early into the season? Every Storm fixture will become farcical. I agree the penalty seems exceptionally harsh, but really what choice did the NRL have? They breached the cap causing them to retain the likes of Inglis, Slater, Smith...the best players in the competition. And they reaped the benefits. Deserve to have their titles stripped. Interesting to see how this impacts State of Origin as far as the psyche of the players, given a bulk of Queensland players come from the Storm.
  20. That's a ripper stat. I've been telling everyone whose questioned me on our chances this weekend that we haven't lost to the Lions at the G in ten years...no further explanation required.
  21. Dees by 4 pts.
  22. I lost interest as soon as I saw Melbourne in Div 2.
  23. As it should be. Fantastic news.
  24. Scully says that he and Moloney are the main players that have taken him and the other young guns under his wing, and for that alone he deserves recognition. His skills aside, I love the fact he has a bit of mongrel about him. It does mean he attracts opponents but to his credit he usually finds a way out of traffic. He's a battler in the good sense of the word.
  25. Unlucky against Wigan. That was the comeback to top all comebacks. It took them 80 minutes to realise that Sol Campbell is too old and slow these days and you can just run around him. Meanwhile my beloved Blues got done in the dying seconds against Man-ure. Again. Although I do like Scholes so if anyone was to head home a late winner I'm glad it was him. This season was heading towards a fitting and quite pleasing conclusion with Chelsea or Arsenal to steal a fourth title from Ferguson's claws (Chelsea to do so comfortably), and Citeh to play Champion's League football next year. In one week it's all gone to [censored].
