  1. ā€œHey look a player appreciation thread. What a perfect opportunity for me to write an essay outlining why that player sucks in every way possible.ā€
  2. Spot on and as anyone who has played sport at any level will testify, this stuff matters.
  3. Can happily say Iā€™ve never been on the Nibbler hate train. The bloke is a toiler and the game now suits him better than it ever has. Long live the Nib.

I understand the need to vent sometimes. Certain turnips in the media do my head in with their obvious distaste for Melbourne doing well. But a bit of context for the two youā€™ve pointed out. Cornes is the footballing equivalent of a shock jock. His job is to say things that will get people up in arms and create talking points. So you simply have to take what he says with a grain of salt. Although heā€™s also not the only one to have that take on Kozzie. I loved it personally. And Koz as an entire package for that matter. .I thought King raised some interesting points, in particular whether there was any danger in changing your gameplan for certain opponents. That is the use of handball to break through Richmond as opposed to kicking it long to be picked off by their intercept defenders. Montagna countered by saying it was fine to tinker with the gameplan as long as there arenā€™t fundamental changes week to week. As you point out, King went early with the grand predictions for Melbourne and got burnt, so heā€™s taking the cautious approach. But even on first crack he was still very complimentary saying the ducks were all starting to line up. You get the feeling the players arenā€™t listening to the media noise anyway. Which hasnā€™t always been the case.. Thatā€™s what matters.
  5. Definitely. Heā€™s been a proponent of the side when few others were because ā€œMelbourneā€. He just went a bit early. In particular he has often talked up Salemā€™s quality and importance to the side. Again when few others do. Though maybe even he is surprised by the level heā€™s gone to this season.
  6. Being at the game, itā€™s hard to make sense of it. Either we are awesome or Richmond are rubbish. Either way. Thank you to the dreaded lunatic sitting next to us who asked every Tigers supporter that walked past if their scarf was a noose. Never mind the fact they have won 3 flags, You made a strange night very eventful.

Geeze heā€™d be pumped to be sharing this milestone with Jonesā€™ 300th. Well done Gussy. Hereā€™s to the next 100.
  8. If Fritta is ready, he becomes a straight swap for Melksham. They surely wonā€™t drop T Mac when heā€™s showing this kind of form. Jackson is performing his role well and also stays. Even if we move T Mac to the wing, a team with Gawn, Jackson, T Mac, Weid, BB and possibly Fritta tips the balance too far out of whack IMO. So just one of BB or Weid to replace M Brown. On paper you would go BB. That said, seven goals is seven goals. If memory serves, Weid has generally translated his VFL form across to AFL in the very next game he plays. So if picked I would back him in to play well. My gut says go with Weid but itā€™s a coin toss. Brown debuting in Jonesā€™ 300th on Anzac eve would be quite the event. I have a feeling they will go Brown for Brown with Weid just unlucky that T Mac is in form.

Imagine thinking your team was primed for a crack at the top four and five rounds into the season youā€™ve won the least amount of quarters in the league. Less than North ffs.

  11. Freo was our worst performance by a stretch. This one had the mark of maturity. A shocking first quarter. Steadied in the second. Got a sniff in the third. And crushed them in the last. All without two key players from the first four rounds. It was genuinely impressive. It also sets up next week beautifully.
  12. Super return. Welcome back Hibbo.
  13. Maxy Gawn. What can you say that hasnā€™t been said.
  14. Lol the ump apologising to Max for awarding a free kick against him
  15. Leigh Matthews has said ten words since half time. Delicious.
  16. 10 minutes left. Put the foot down.
  17. Give that man 2 Brownlow votes
  18. The big man
  19. Wait what? That was HTB and it gets reversed because of high contact after the whistle?
  20. If we could win a clearance thatā€™d be super.
  21. Wow. That was a 2018 T Mac dagger.
  22. And take Matthews with you. ā€œLimited priorā€ my [censored]. Mitchell had enough time to stop for a cup of tea.
  23. So May and Fritta are big outs in case anyone was wondering. A better quarter than the first at least. Backline just starting to get their [censored] together. Without much confidence I think weā€™ll get over the line but geeze if we play like this weā€™re in for a hiding next week. Really happy with Hibboā€™s game. The biggest positive so far.
  24. I feel like we could be 18-0 and Leigh Matthews wouldnā€™t rate us that highly.
