  1. Nice idea HT. Tom Scully Jack Trengove Aaron Black Callum Bartlett Ben Griffiths James Craig PSD Mitch Thorp Edit: Removed rookie selections - didn't realise we had no room left on the list.
  2. You do enjoy a good argument, don't you rhino..?
  3. Its all a worthwhile exercise even if it goes nowhere. The experience is invaluable and its all material for your folio. Keep it up
  4. I think most of us would have heard about him growing 22cm in the last 18 months or whatever it was, to get him to this height... but does anyone know if he was already playing for the cannons before the growth spurt? I can't remember or find the articles (with minimal searching) but if he was, then it makes him an even more impressive prospect. In my book anyways. The kid would still be getting used to his new bigger body, more-so than other tall kids i think, so he would have a huge ceiling.
  5. Really?? is he? No chance to make the squad though, I hope. I thought we now placed a priority on recruiting players that could kick..?
  6. Will probably be alright. Darren Kowal reincarnate.
  7. Go on... I'm sure Geelong would sooner trade Gary Ablett Jr than Cam Mooney or Hawkins.
  8. We'll need a few to delist next year (not sure of the rules but I don't think deleting Newton and/or Meesen from the rookie list will count...)
  9. Completely disagree. Its about having our choice of those players who are around the same mark, not taking the one that's left after everyone else has had a crack. For that matter, I don't think Ball is worth either pick 11 or 18. The positives he will bring to the team will be outweighed by the positives a kid taken with those picks could bring. They'd also have another 7 or so years of playing on him, if they can make the grade. Ball's career will be well & truly winding up by the time we are properly contending. I don't see him having that great an impact on the MFC. In fact I see him only playing a couple of years before dropping off the list due to being injury-plagued.
  10. But what happens if you learn the name of another smoky and happen to find 20 seconds of him on youtube? It will throw out your wish list entirely! Here's one for you - Sam Reid.
  11. Personally I'd hope we are just trying to bluff another team into taking Ball a lot earlier than he deserves. I'd be gutted if we use pick 11 or 18 on him rather than a youngster.
  12. Yeah, you're right - we should have traded Davey, Newton, Jamar and Brad Green for pick 8, 2 farmer's union iced coffees and a box of cheezels.
  13. No he can't. At AFL level he'd play a 'Jurrah' role.
  14. Hasn't he just stated the bleeding obvious? I'm not about to applaud him for not talking rubbish to the media for the first time in his life.
  15. Depends on how much stock you put on 'facebook updates'...
  16. I'd still like to get him, but I'm skeptical about what sort of on-field impact he could have personally - I'm sure he'd help the development of the kids though. If we don't get him I won't be too concerned, but it makes me wonder who the hell else we will take..? Will we even bother to use the PSD pick? Either way, I'm not about to lose all hope of getting Luke Ball based on an article in the Australian. I'm surprised the author put his name to this one as opposed to 'staff writer'.
  17. That's a BIG call. Could easily be true in some cases. In my case, I think he's not the type of player to play the stereotypical FF role, therefore I wouldn't refer to him as a FF. He's more a roaming forward for mine. Bugger it, I don't care what position you nominate for him, just put him in the damn forward line and kick the ball in his direction. Doesn't Daniel Motlop spend a bit of time playing at FF for Port?
  18. Well, I'm afraid its coming and soon, whether we'd like it or not. I expect it will take some sort of restricted form, with the team a player wishes to leave having the option of matching an opposing team's offer. It would obviously need to involve some clause for arranging a trade. Its all going to become very complicated and messy. Unfortunately it will integrally change the game as we know it.
  19. Watching that video, I actually really don't like the way he trots in so slowly and casually for set shots. He might kick them, but I just see something in that which makes me cringe. But I'm clutching at straws. He'll probably be an AFL great by the time he's done.
  20. Don't they all at that age? And the ones that don't end up having question marks hanging over their heads, because they might be better purely because they can manhandle the other kids at that level?
  21. He is not as big as Butcher. They also play different styles.
  22. The world is changing. Internet accountability is increasing. Don't take it for granted that the conditions of the early years of the internet will remain forever. Everything still leaves a trail.
  23. He might not necessarily be a [censored], he might just be socially retarded like Jack Anthony and they just find it really hard to get along with him. Either way, I don't want him.
