  1. I'm just saying that obviously what he says is not gospel, but its more educated than almost anyone else's opinion. Its interesting to see that he thinks we might pass on Butcher at 11 AND 18, is it not? Point is, he gives a rough guide to where he thinks Butcher might end up, so it may be an oversight that he has us passing him twice where we might reasonably take him, or it might be very deliberate. I wasn't trying to take the [censored] out of your post, merely elaborating on it. In fact I quite liked your post. Relax mate...
  2. You can read also sorts of things out of this, eg. Butcher 5-20 would indicate that even if he were still available at our pick 18 we may not take him, which I think is interesting. Although Burgan obviously knows a lot more than any of the hacks posting Phantom Drafts on Big Footy, even he is still making guesses, educated or not.
  3. I've re-watched a few games I've had saved from this season and he actually has done exceptionally well. He's not a star, but he's more than solid. I guess I've always thought of him as being a liability and he's just suddenly become a very competent player. He doesn't do a lot beyond performing the role given to him, but the things he does do he does quite well.
  4. Yes, very true. I had a feeling I was overlooking something. cheers.
  5. Industrial strength snooker table, poker table, pool & spa, table tennis, darts and a pole in the centre of the room. Fully decked out. If only I had the money to buy the land and build it. The neighbours wouldn't be happy though.
  6. Its just that is termed a Father-Son Priority Selection, is it not? I'm going from memory here. That line just jumped out at me. But I doubt they could possibly get away with suspending the F/S picks for a year or 2.
  7. Damn... that's... horrible, just horrible. WOW. Sorry, guys, completely went through to the keeper. I'm simultaneously trying to organize a bucks weekend and we're looking at places to stay. Who knew it was so hard to get a place around Portsea to comfortably accommodate 17 drunk men..? Seriously, there is a market out there for someone to build a big industrial-strength purpose-built bucks-party-weekend mcmansion.
  8. Essentially: - GWS get to select 12 x 17 yr olds next year, much the same as GC17 has done this year, which means the upcoming 2010 ND will be further weakened before GC17 even touches it. - GWS will get pretty much exactly the same draft picks in the 2011 draft as GC17 is getting in 2010 (no differences as far as I can tell - might only extend to round 3 though for the 1st pick of the round) - GWS will get the first 8 picks in the 2010 Rookie Draft, similar to what GC17 get this year. Other assorted conditions that don't really affect us too much. They can poach out-of-contract players from our list, but this can be avoided by signing up said player with an extension before the season concludes. It also outlines compensation if this does occur. *** Now, the suspicious thing for me is this sentence in regards to the selections GWS get in the 2011 ND - "Please note that these selections have priority over any other special assistance / priority selections which may be available to other clubs, as per the rule that applies to the Gold Coast FC for the 2010 Draft." Does this include Father-Son selections..? See where I'm going with this?? Its inconclusive, but a travesty if this is the case.
  9. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...08/default.aspx Some interesting reading...
  10. Just because you read an old thread doesn't mean you will bump it... Fantastic read. Made me realise how little of MFC's heritage I actually understood
  11. No worries HT. Still don't know much about Colyer myself. I'd prefer to go for KPF with pick 11 and 18, depending on who is left. If Lucas or Rohan slip we have to take them. Anyway, today we have the cream of the cream - Medium Midfielders - http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...80/default.aspx
  12. Cameron Bruce wants to seduce Luke Ball... http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...02/default.aspx
  13. It'd be a lot easier talking your missus into moving back home to Melbourne with you, than it would be to Adelaide. And considering its hardly his home makes it a moot point. With the culture Bailey and the football dept are trying to foster amongst the young players it would be even harder to leave. Although the players are encouraged to bond at all clubs, I'm sure MFC has made it a priority and put more effort into this particular area than maybe some other clubs. The frequency with which this is brought up would lead you to assume so anyway.
  14. I think that's Bennel's role, but he'll be more attacking than Whelan when he has the ball. Nev and Aussie will both look to be playing a similar role of forward pocket / flank with stints in the midfield. Adam Maric is in the same boat.
  15. I was being facetious personally. I think anyone overly concerned about the 'go home factor' is a moron and probably still worries about the Y2K bug.
  16. I'm still worried that Todd Viney might want to leave...
  17. Yeah, you're right, I don't think we'll go after Luke Ball either... Good is good, one paced or not.
  18. Yeah, you're right, but he seems to read the play fairly well and use the ball pretty well too. I guess we have enough of his type anyway though.
  19. Much much better than a few year back when the club decided to 'update' the club song and turn it into an electro-abomination. Still makes me cringe...
  20. I wouldn't be too surprised or disappointed if we took Christensen at 18 too (depending on who else was available)
  21. Small midfielders today - http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...48/default.aspx
  22. Fair point. Either way, it adds another variation to what may happen on draft day. As you said, someone as good as Lucas could even slip to us. Is it really 40 odd days away still..??
  23. James Craig looks decent enough but his height worries me - he's only 195cm which is short for a ruckman, athletic abilities aside. I'd be more inclined to go with Vardy
  24. Good man, I'm a gooner myself. And I also take exception to the insinuation that I am not passionate because I don't sing or chant (a direct result of all the flat spots in football games). Footy does not lend itself to this type of crowd behaviour as it is too fast-paced and high scoring, and I often can't speak for the rest of the day after a game. Carn you might Demons!
  25. Yes, but the Hun and the Age and every other media outlet known to man were saying Davey had practically walked out on Melbourne just before he signed. I don't put much stock in 'what is understood' by the Herald Sun. That often means they've made it up or heard it from a less than reliable source.
