  1. Right... anyway, just before we get back on topic, is there any chance you can change that damn signature? I'm surprised it didn't subliminally cause more people to jump on the 'Best Available' bandwagon, the way it catches the eye as you scroll through a thread. Tone down that bold, please. I can see Jordy Gysberts being a guy who goes about his business over the course of an outstanding, yet unobtrusive career akin to Nigel Lappin. I'm dreaming of big things for young Jordy...
  2. Matthew Allan? Clark Keating? Jason Ball? Beau McDonald? Steve Alessio? Matthew Capuano? Corey McKernan? Matthew Clarke? John Barnes? Shaun Rehn? Paul Salmon? Peter Everitt? Just throwing some names out there that were associated with successful teams.
  3. The Rising Star is a token award; nothing more than a popularity contest. Hence I've been able to win over $1000 over the last 3 years on it purely by following the media and putting my money on their darling.
  4. I also was hoping he'd come back to MFC in 2010 in some capacity, but my hopes were dashed when he was asked about it on SEN and he categorically stated he would not be coaching at ANY club due to his commitments re: problem gambling. He was adamant and he ruled out even a part-time position. This was during the finals from memory, or at least very late in the season. I'm only reporting what I heard out of his very mouth. I like the idea of gently twisting his arm to get him back, but in the scheme of things I'm glad he is so devoted to helping problem gamblers more than coaching young players.
  5. David Schwarz has categorically stated that he will not be coaching in any capacity in 2010 as he will have no time for it due to his commitment to helping those fighting gambling addiction. Beyond 2010 only he knows.
  6. Yeah, exactly. BP was alerted to his talent by the word of Jetta's relatives only. He did not have time to watch him play and consequently would've been derelict in his duty to risk picking a player sight unseen. I happen to agree that Liam Patrick is/was not good enough and if you go back through my posts I think you'll find that. Shame, but true. Edit: to clarify, is/was not good enough... compared to what else was one offer at any of our picks. Could still be something, but won't be close to Jurrah's standing.
  7. Dropped on your head as a baby, were you? I'd like to point out that Burgan had Sheppard going to WC at 7 in his phantom draft before most even thought it was a possibility. You'd also be extremely stupid to ignore the fact that one unexpected pick causes a domino effect which is impossible to recover from. I think you'd be suitably impressed if you saw his pre-draft wishlist for each club at each selection - he'd get quite a bit of that correct imho. You certainly do have the personality for being locked in a room to count beans all day. Hardly fit to socialize with others.
  8. A hell of a lot better than Bruce. Think Adam Goodes. And do you think Paul Roos worries about whether people want to label him a forward or a midfielder? Just put him wherever he can wreak the most damage on any particular day.
  9. Thats good. I'd take offense to yours if I didn't pity your ignorance.
  10. Mid-season upgrade from rookie to senior list. Happened last season, not sure if it is a permanent rule.
  11. Worked out fine on the radio, decent informed commentary on SEN, good timing between rounds. Having not seen the foxtel coverage I honestly can't fathom how they could possibly get it so wrong. Sounds like the footy coverage is run by old footy boys who think they can do what they clearly can't. The whole thought process sounds flawed.
  12. I'm afraid membership of a sporting club does not make privacy laws moot. This entire thread is a farce.
  13. Sorry, which AFL club does Quigley work for as a recruiter..?
  14. Talia? Black? Enough supporters whinge about Lynden Dunn mk I; we hardly need a clone.
  15. ∆∆∆∆∆ Stamp of Approval for Gysberts. Not that I needed it. I'm very happy with him and he is just short of an elite kick. Inspired choice. Versatility means that if a player needs a rest and goes to the bench, you can slide another player into that spot, as opposed to having a player that struggles in the position. Fairly simple really, I would've thought.
  16. Just been looking through Matt Burgan's old Phantom Drafts and considering he is fairly well respected in this field I found these snippets from his 2005 phantom interesting... I know Burgan is not infallible and this is only a phantom draft, but I think his opinion is a good representation of the general opinions of a certain player... 17. I was being facetious. If you're going to include a player like Max Gawn in your top 20, you might as well include players that will be likely rookie-listed but have bigger profiles than their ability deserves, such as Daw and Temel.
  18. I don't see any reason members should be privy to these details. I doubt it will ever happen.
  19. This should be a lesson to all those who think we should take Vardy at 11 or 18... Ruckman take time and late picks, unless they are exceptional, in the case of a Kreuzer. Even Leuenberger is fairly decent but has so far not shown quite enough for a pick 4 in my view.
  20. Hopefully this means he'll slide to 34. I rate this kid better than any other KPF in the draft, but his injuries are the one and only concern. I wouldn't hesitate at 34, but he might even be gone by 18.
  21. Got to agree with that, but I think even pick 50 is a stretch.
  22. Is there something wrong with being selfish when concerned with self-preservation? Or rather, the preservation of our beloved AFL? Stadium upgrades might be handy, but I also think a world cup would be detrimental to AFL more than anything. Especially when trying to take hold in new markets like GC & WS (especially).
  23. I see no reason why he can't do both. Stop being so bloody precious.
  24. Nothing article. These are just the 30 shifter knows most about and is trying to hype up. Max Gawn? I'm surprised Majak Daw and Serhat Temel didn't make the list...
