Two wrongs don't make a right. How can you shepherd someone from a marking contest when you are holding position. It's the worst free kick I've ever seen. It should have been a free kick to us for an unrealistic attempt to mark. That the player turns and uses their eyes (an important organ in the visual process) has no baring on the free kick. The eyes can provide a clue to umpires in a marking contest when a player is spoiled/taken out, but have minimal baring on this decision.

Great tackle, I loved it. Good on Callan "Millionaire" Ward for having some guts and getting back up after they dug him out of the turf. The bulldog crowd should harden the F up.
-
I think it will work ok. We will still be predominantly white. But sometimes things in theory don't work out.I definitely agree about the bulldogs wearing a more traditional strip, it looked great.
-
Surely he'll be the sub, and I think he'll make a good go of it. I'm more worried about stopping their midfield and who will take Gia. He's a dangerous player up forward and we are short on lock down defenders. The 3 talls will take Hall, Grant and Jones but someone like Strauss will have to take Gia.
-
Good backline and forward line, but the Casey midfield stocks look a bit thin on the ground at the moment.
-
Pretty sure the tallish target was Nahas. Let's not get too carried away. That effort was exactly what he should have done. I like Bennell, he's just got to keep working on his game.
-
If we don't win the next 2 then it will all be for nothing. And I'm seriously worried about us beating the Dogs and Port.
-
My understanding of it is that Burgan works for the club and provides content for our website, and Holmesby works for ALF.com.au and covers Melbourne.

It was the attitude of all the forwards that led to this many tackles. At the start of the year Watts couldn't tackle and Green and Jurrah wouldn't tackle. Those 3 have stepped it up. But we still need to improve. Gourdis and McGuane were responsible for a lot of the turnovers/letting us get tackles. Most sides have better equipped players than those 2.

Masten, Morton, Palmer, Myers - how the hell did that WA team win anything. You'd think it would be one turn over after another. If only we tanked better and got Cotchin! Although then we'd miss out on the fun of Jordie McKenzie doing a great job on him. By the way, I know Sheeds is in charge, but GWS won't just take anyone! I think the increased speed of the game is killing Morton. He's never had to execute under pressure before and it's killing his skills. The rest of his game is fixed pretty easily with a bit of work with his attitude, but his skills are shocking.

Only played a few VFL games and whilst his last one was good Tom McDonald has played half a dozen or more good VFL games. Then there is Warnock, who isn't really a suitable swap for Macdonald, but dominates VFL. I think we'd be better off just going smaller with the pick of Tapscott/Bartram/Blease
-
What the hell does Dunn size have anything to do with Hall! Frawley, Rivers and Garland are all in line to play on Hall and barring them Warnock can do a job. Dunn will be at the other end of the field, he's not a half back and shouldn't get the chance to play there without doing it as Casey first. Dunn still has a career if he can get back to his high work rate footy that allows him to play half forward and midfield. When Green goes the ideal situation would be to put in Cook, but Dunn is still number 1 in line. He'll be out of contract again next year so I expect big things then! Also unless Bartram has had this eye injury for the last five years it's not excuse. Bennell isn't as hard as him, but even though he has minimal possessions is really giving us run, something Bartram hasn't been able to provide since his first year.
-
Occasionally yes, but getting to the right possessions and then having a shot is often good play not bad. It's not as easy as saying, well Brad you spent your whole career trying to kick goals, now you must look unselfish at all times. The captaincy has weighed on him, but thankfully he has improved this year from where he was at. Still has a way to go - I abuse him generally once a game now for been selfish/dumb. Can't blame him for kicking the one early in the 4th.
-
Well I was wrong. All I can say is would've been a better sub than Morton! Except by that stage we'd be 10 goals down. A really great change of game style by Liam. Very unselfish, very team oriented football. LJ, Petterd, Watts and Green today were a mile away from the rubbish served up earlier in the year by our forwards (although their opponents were C grade and the deliver at times A grade). Good inside information about LJ been sick last week, its things like this you don't know when selecting a team on a forum.
-
If you want poor execution then Blease will be your man!Tapscott in for Morton. If Macdonald is out then take your pick from Bartram, Evans or Blease - either way barn doors will be missed.
-
I was most impressed with the strong mark at CHF on the lead earlier in the game. That and the big pack mark.
-
+ 1.I think he made improvements the last two weeks, but today was a big step backwards. Casey is calling. Has to get the skills under pressure and the hardness up. It's all he's lacking from been a consistent player, but it's no small deal!
-
Really happy he got to play a game as the number 1 ruck (against Freo). He got a taste against Essendon when he was more than handy up forward and in the ruck, he got a taste of getting beaten by Collingwood, and then he got a good run in the ruck against a solid player (Griffen) and a goal up forward. Perfect 3 game stretch.

I'm warming to Jurrah sub myself. Gysberts generally plays a good first half when he is fresh and we can leave Sylvia forward more - along with Petterd, Green, Watts, Howe, Bennell doing a defensive job and Jamar/Martin. Come the second half bring on LJ, put Sylvia and Petterd into the midfield rotation and watch Liam take them apart. By sitting on the bench he would arguably give us more than what he did in the first 3/4 on Sunday. It would be a gutsy call from Bailey but lets see what happens.
-
Most logical people say - he needs confidence. Then go to the game and boo him and shout abuse at him all game. I'm not sure how much of this players here, but last week some nut bag out of nowhere top of his voice yells "see you at Casey Morton". When clearly he had put his body on the line a few times and made a solid contribution. We all defended Watts for so long, maybe its time we have a little patience with Morton. We've all noted what a weapon he can be and obviously missing a lot of footy over the last two years has slowed his development from talented junior to a guy who knows how to play within a team. It's why I liked him at half back where his job is simpler - stand opponent, chase opponent, spoil ball, run to space, kick. But the club are taking the tougher option by putting him on the wing where he has to think about positioning and win much more contested ball.
-
Does he get a game ahead of:Watts - no Green - 5 goals last week says no Howe - no chance Jurrah - LJ has been struggling, but it would be a big call Petterd - Ricky's VFL was as good as Dunn's and he more than played his role last week Call me crazy but I still think Dunn can be a useful player, but he has to replace one of these guys or wait for injury. He also has to get back to full fitness and be part of the midfield rotation like Petterd is doing. Part of this is our fault I think, after his impressive performances late last year we tried to make him into a big strong forward, when really he needs mobility to impact games.
-
Reason's why we didn't keep him at the end of 2009:A) Dodgy groins followed by hip injury that required surgery = backwards start for 2010 B) The trouble with his ex girl friend - never a positive C) He wanted a trade D) Those kicking skills can be up and down, the booming long kick certainly suits Collingwood's game plan more than ours at the moment Of the quotes it is only this one that bothers me. "I wasn't able to get on top of the injuries, and once I was out of the team I hardly had anything to do with any of the coaches," he said. Surely it is the players out of the side who need the most coaching. Hopefully we've come a fair way with stuff like that since the end of 2009.

More on this website will know Barry Price for his teaching than his playing career. Round 22 full forward line this year:SCULLY, GAWN, HOWE or WATTS, SCULLY, DUNN
-
Keep picking the best talents under the age of 24 (that may involve trades - but not big buy ins). With GWS coming in I still think its important for us to get the strongest young list available. Free agency will come in at the end of 2012 and that will help player movement and will make bringing in experience much easier, so I say wait until then for gap fillers.

I disagree, you have to remember Foley is a class player and Jackson will most likely got to Moloney and curb his influence. If we shut down Cotchin and Martin and they shut down Moloney we need Scully, Sylvia, Trengove, Jones and Morton to beat their opponents - likely Foley, Houli, Grigg, Edwards. The advantage we should have is in the ruck with Jamar against Browne, and Martin backing up against Miller or Vickery. Hopefully Jamar and Martin can really wear Browne down and force Vickery into the ruck, thus taking away a danger man up forward.
