  1. I would not be surprised if Vince was playing injured on Sunday night. Hoping it was only a corky around the hip area, but he was far from 100% (made that goal even more brilliant). Haven't watched Misson's report as yet, but doubt it would've been mentioned.
  2. Great, I just voted and I'm he only one not to have Chunk in my mid-year AA team. I had to vote "No" as I don't think he is in the 6 (inc interchange) in the league in the position he plays. He would absolutely be an emergency. This will most likely be a more controversial post than those that have Dunn in their AA team to this point. Sorry!
  3. RPFC - maybe we could do the old "special deal", hey? You know what I mean, don't you? Of course you do. Cheeky rascal, you.
  4. For Dunn to make it, it would mean he has to continue to improve and/or maintain his current form, while at the same time, the guys already listed will have to drop off. I don't think Dunn will make it based on the latter part of that, but I hope he pushes because of the former part.
  5. C&B - Dom had 16 touches against probably the best tagger in the league. He'll learn a lot from that, and you won't be disappointed with your decision for your jumper!
  6. Gee RP, tell us what you really think. What work? Well, the fact that he clearly has a vision for the club and has ideas on how to achieve them. That's a great start for me, so I congratulate/thank him for that. Bartlett has kept his mouth shut, until now. Now he is starting to open it, is flagging changes are (hopefully) coming, so that we the members are prepared. Can you imagine the outcry if all of a sudden they are playing a new version of IAGOF when we run out, with no prior warning given? He has said something about concentrating on the footy aspect first. Well, that's what he has allowed to happen. He's got the right people in the right places (through the terrific work of PJ and the AFL), our footy is starting to talk (granted we still have a long way to go). I'm glad he's not just sitting back waiting for the ultimate before he looks at the next stage of this growth. And FWIW, I don't see his ideas as a series of random thought bubbles. It's obvious he has a clear plan, and that's to grow the brand. Is it working in Casey? I don't think any of us have the facts/figures to support our case, but I'm sure GB does. Would he be targeting this area if it's a worthwhile thing? Finally, I'm quite sure he mentioned about spending the next few months really investigating these ideas. This is where we hope that due diligence is undertaken as I'm quite sure we've failed in this area under previous administrations. I have confidence in the current group, maybe you should too? The Yankees are New York. The Knicks are New York. the Storm are Melbourne. The Demons need to be Melbourne. We have a special piece of real estate in our name that we aren't making the most of, or getting maximum return from. Our president is working on changing this. Kudos to him.
  7. I loved the article. Why? I have long questioned why our them song is the only one in the league that doesn't have our name or nickname in it. Nb - I acknowledge the "second verse" does, but we don't sing that at games. I have often questioned the success of the relationship with Casey. I'd love to know how many new members have come from it, and other than offering community programs (ie school programs), what we are actually getting out of it. I've also frequently raised concerns over the VFL alignment we have with the Scorpions, and how much damage this is actually doing to the development of our players. I have regularly voiced my frustration that we don't have any branding in the CBD. I visit Melbourne a few times a year, and would love to be able to go to a Demon Shop that is in the City (not underneath the MCG), or go and have a beer at a MFC bar. There is so much potential to grow our brand in the Melbourne CBD. We don't need to be pi$$ing on lamp posts down at Casey, we need to make the most of what we have got in our true heartland. Finding solutions for the above isn't difficult. Some will be expensive, but some won't be. Great work GB.
  8. Can you please post a comparison of what we picked compared to what Emma believed during that period? Thanks in advance.
  9. Don't blame him for speaking to the journos like that-I think 95% of them are low-life fwits that make me taste sick in my mouth when I hear from or read the scum. I thought the only decision they got the Lappin decision wrong, Wayne Campbell thought they got it right. Guess that means I'm the correct one...
  10. http://m.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-lions-coach-justin-leppitschs-first-job-was-to-talk-tom-rockliff-out-of-taking-melbourne-trade-offer/story-fni5f5nx-1226946151477 Looks as though we offered pick 2 for Rockliff (don't recall that potential trade being mentioned at the time - could be wrong though!). If they had accepted it, we wouldn't have got Tyson. I'd imagine the Lions' first round pick would've been part of the package. So, should we be thankful that Leppa stopped the deal? I probably don't know enough about Rockliff, but I know Dom's a bloody beauty and I'm glad the MFC is his home and not somewhere else!
  11. Prior to this season I would've said 5. Love 99% of everything about him, the 1% that I don't know is if he will be a star. The fact that the number 12 has arrived has thrown me considerably. I remember some supporters back in the 80s, they would have one main number in the middle, then 4 different numbers on each corner. You could bring that back?!
  12. Check the website - I can't post a link (sorry!). Someone may be able to for me? Interesting signing...
  13. Curry & Beer (in response to your post about boycotting - apologies, my quote feature isn't working)... The longer this season goes on, the more I'm starting to appreciate that dikhead McLean actually said what he said. It allowed for a very ruthless investigation in to our club, which cost people their jobs, as well as confirming in a public forum that we urgently needed to get our shite together. I'm starting to treat the $500k cost as an expensive consultant fee, rather than a fine for being found not guilt. If CS spent $80k on a review new desk, I think spending half a mill on someone from the AFL forcing us to make change has been worth its price. We are a better club for it.
  14. You're in Tas though aren't you Nasher? It is totally understandable that some timeslots don't fit with interstate travel. The people that live 30 minutes to and hour's drive that complain about timeslots, they're the ones that do annoy me. If we were on top of the ladder I'm sure people would make the 3:20pm timeslot with no issues at all.
  15. I love the 3:20pm timeslot, and wished I lived in Victoria to go to the game. I would not use the "later" timeslot as an excuse not to go to a game. When I used to go to the footy with my parents as a young teen, even a bit earlier, one of the great thrills of going to the MCG for a 2:10pm game was that on the odd occasion (weather permitting), that they may turn the lights on. It used to give me goose bumps for some reason! For some reason, playing under lights always adds to the atmosphere for me. Sounds weird, but it's true! If I ever live back in Victoria, and get the opportunity to take my kids to a game, the only game that I *may* not take the kids to would be a Monday night game, but it would depend on where I'm living. I used to love going to the footy, day or night, and I hope that my kids will feel the same way. Nb. Not trying to be a smart ar$e, but try living away from Victoria. You will never whinge about timeslots again.
  16. The only thing I found interesting was that he was advised to stay in Melbourne for the best treatment, rather than going back to Western Australia. With the exposure to mental illness that I've had, I wouldn't have thought this would be the case. Given I know nothing of Mitch's personal circumstances, I'm not contributing anything to this thread (one of few that can admit that!), but just thought that part of this story was interesting.
  17. Normally I would be worried about this too, but we have someone who can actually coach now, rather than some E-grade fwit, so I'm not too concerned as I have confidence in our FD.
  18. Posted the above (in a different thread) after our Round 6 loss to Sydney. I had trouble watching the game on Saturday, mainly because for a guy like me - mid 30's, married with children, unblemished record - I found it quite disturbing that my man crush was developing in to something more serious. The best thing I could come up with was a quite prayer that Dom will find a nice girl soon, and in the next couple of years she gives birth to a boy, so that I can do my best to arrange a marriage with my daughter. Sound strange? It was a lot less creepy than the other thoughts I had... Watching Roos' press conference after the Port game, I think he is finding it very difficult to keep a lid on this kid. It has been a long time since a MFC player has taken me to a happy place during a game. Jurrah flirted at times and The Wiz did it frequently, but they were more from a mercurial highlight. For pure class, I'm thinking maybe not since Flower?
  19. Sorry, I need clarifcation on this. They have been collecting htis data over the past 3 years? Given Roos is 9 games in to his tenure, I can't see that this boosted our averages up so much that we are "now" 2nd. Therefore, does this mean some kudos has to go to Neeld/Craig for laying these strong, contested foundations? Also, I was interested to read that Ox is proud. Considering we have clearly improved, will he acknowledge that the decision makers made the right decision by not accepting his offer for help? Ox is a former champion of the Club, who was cruelly struck down by injury, and sadly, we didn't get to see the player he should've been. He now works in the media, and pats us on the back when he feels like it, but will sink the boots in at other times. He will always be an ex-Melbourne champion, but he's also added "media personality" to his resume. Of all the "experts" in the media circles these days, I think there are only two people that have both those titles on their resume, and neither of them have been able to juggle both roles for the good of the MFC.
  20. While it's a bit off topic, you just need to look at all AFL clubs and the relationship they have with their "reserves" teams to see that we are a long way off where we should be. Of the 10 Victorian-based clubs, 5 have standalone reserves teams, two more have had their VFL affiliate change their nicknames to give some recognition of the partnership, leaving the last three clubs (us, St Kilda and North) as the only clubs not to have a clear "connection" to their VFL affiliate. Even North's affiliate has "Roos" in their nickname, but that probably doesn't assist with my argument! For me personally, I think it's as plain as day that we are doing this as a cash grab marketing/brand development ploy, but at the same time respecting the Casey team, and recognising their best interests. I think we have totally stuffed the business model up by going this way first, rather than focus on what's best for the development of players which in turn will improve our onfield performance. I can only look at our onfiled performance since the Casey alignment was implemented to support my argument. I would really like to know how many new memberships we have generated from this alignment to see if it has actually been successful offield. I'm doubtful, but hope that it's something the club is looking at.
  21. I sincerley hope that Monfries doesn't play. As I will be watching the entire game on TV, having to put up with that dikhead on my screen for 2 hours would be quite painful. Definitely in my Top 5 of my most disliked current players. A totally unjustified decision that I will happily stand by.
  22. Why write an article about Melbourne? Why on their "bye" week? Why write about a player playing in the Sunday twilight spot? Plenty of other things that could've been written about, hence why I had some interest in what was said, or perhaps what wasn't said. May very well be nothing.
  23. Thoughts on Garland getting first crack?
  24. Law of averages says such an event has to be getting closer.
  25. Would hope Tom gets this role.
