We'd be better off with Adcock for 2-3 years if we wanted to get a bit of experience in.

Slightly off topic, and not sure if it has been mentioned previously, but can someone tell me why Howe was one of the blokes chairing Cross off last week? I actually felt like vomiting to be honest.

When you think about it Binman, there's a number of players this finals campaign that you could argue that we deemed "not good enough" in some form. There's also been past players that we've felt that way about too.

Dees should seek AFL Exoneration of Tanking fiasco.
The Chazz replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was the additional "bonus" of losing a certain amount of games that created the issues for us, as it meant we had to tailor games, rather than "a" game. I'm not upset with the AFL because we got "caught", I'm upset with them because there were other cases that didn't get investigated to the degree we did. I'm more upset with CC for being such a loose-mouthed [censored]. And in regards to a team truly bottoming out over consecutive years to receive the best draft picks they can, as an attempt for long term success, it's a rubbish reason. Many clubs have proven that the need for such a drastic reaction isn't necessary, but ironically, the most recent of clubs to do it are both still crud. We took the easy way out to look for a saviour. -
With the likes of Maloney, Silvia, Bleese and now Pettard retiring, some punters on here are fast running out of players to fcuk up the spelling of their surname. Jokes aside, Petterd appeared content with making the senior team. Was inconsistent, and didn't appear to work hard enough when his opportunity presented itself. I moved on from him a year before he left us. Bit like Howe at the start of this year.

They (Norf and Freo) are setting themselves up to win a final next week. We set ourselves up to win a better draft pick. I trust most can see the difference, and why the suggestions in the OP are a tad silly. -
I hope he never eliminates it, LDC. Doesn't hurt having a key forward with a bit of 'tude, and high expectations of his teammates.

Wow, Stuie and Olisik having a bit of a dust-up reminds me of this...

There's nothing to say that the others "in the gun" aren't going to suffer a similar outcome. Problem is for supporters, the Football Department just can't pull the trigger on those before him, especially as there is still a game to go. Be patient, I'm sure the Cross decision will make sense before Round 1, 2016.

And not only that, but other than Brayshaw, we have had to manage all of these players because of injury issues at various stages this season. When that core you mentioned become 80-100 game players, and make up the leadership group of the club, that's when we will know how far away from a flag we are.

Coached a team that played the best single game of footy I have seen for a long, long time, especially in red and blue colours. Problem with our recruiting was that he went for mostly outside midfielders with our top picks, that could run all day, and were fairly quick too. He didn't specifically target the inside grunt to get the ball out to these runners, and the ones he did pick up were no good. Ironically, the team we beat in my opening paragraph were one of the better contested teams going around. I think Bails was a pretty good coach, and had the players chosen to make the same statement in a different way at Geelong, we will never know what could've been.

Jared Rivers' career could be over
The Chazz replied to Henrietta Lumbago's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's fine, and isn't forgotten by me. Board had to go - because of the reasons you stated Coach had to go - because someone "had to" after the game, and it wasn't going to be the CEO CEO had to go - because of the, well, whatever reason you want from the book of reasons Senior players had to go - because they made a statement in the most horrific way possible None of this is revisionism for me (and the likes of WYL), we demanded it at the time, and this year should see the last of the skeletons removed. -

Because Neeld, and a select few on here, knew that most of the senior players on the list at the time of 186 needed to go. They were toxic for the club, and only the ones that could right the wrong were given the opportunity to prove themselves. Make no mistake, that game was nearly the death of the club. How many other times during a B&F count has a game not been counted? Things had to change in every facet of the organisation, and the playing group was an equally important facet that needed changing. -

Insightful. -
Not sure about anyone else, but I was reading the MFC website last night, and one of the rolling articles was promoting the B&F. It actually made me the most annoyed I've felt this year about my club. Here we are, just under a month away from the AFL finals, and we're frothing up over our B&F count. And to make it worse, the count is booked in for Friday 11 September - week 1 of the finals. Now, I realise that you don't have to be Nostradamus to predict that the likelihood of us making finals this year wasn't great, but realistically, a lot of us around here were looking at the fixture after the Geelong win, believing we had a number of winnable games in the run home, and that we were a (mathematical) chance of a finals start. One would imagine that you would need to give Crown Palladium a bit of notice when booking an event on a Friday night... I'd much prefer the club to send players to as many finals games as possible, soak in the crowd, the pressure of finals footy, and show them that this is where we want to be. Instead, we "celebrate" the end of our season with a big pi$$ up at Crown, on the same night that almost half the other clubs are preparing to play finals. Apologies, I'm in a sh!t mood today, and it's much easier to vent my frustration on Demonland. As much as I love Jack Watts, I have banned myself from going on this his thread today due to the high risk of getting a lifetime ban!

Ridiculous comment. This is Frawley's first season at Hawthorn, the team that are favourites for the flag. His absence due to injury had an impact on Hawthorn's structures, and while they still managed to win a lot of those games, they certainly missed him. And, as soon as Frawley was fit, he was straight back in to said premiership favourite's side. Rivers would've been competing against Gibson for a spot on their backline, and I know who'd be my first choice. The thing for me was that Rivers had the opportunity to show leadership at the MFC, and he elected not to (he's not on his own there, but I feel the same about a number of players from a couple of years ago). Sadly, my lasting memory of JR at the MFC was the game against Collingwood where he was made to look insipid. It's going to be a big call, but I don't think I've seen a Melbourne player clearly throw in the towel as much as Rivers did that day. I've been a supporter for over 35 years. And for those that are/were hoping he got that flag he desired...fcuk that. Pavlich "deserves" a flag. Robert Harvey is a bloke that deserved a flag, Robbie Flower was too. Not Rivers. -
Think every man and his dog have heard that, but thanks for the update, CNN...

The thing about Buckley, and it's not just him (ie it's his entire Club as well, and they're not the only ones that do this), is that regardless of the state of their list, the amount of injuries they have, they never have excuses. They never expect anything less than winning every time they play. They always go in to a season expecting to play finals as a bare minimum then see where they get to after that. We don't, and it seriously needs to change.

Collingwood drug duo banned for 2 years
The Chazz replied to Bluey's Dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Might be just me, but I can't see how the club should be able to delist them and re-rookie them. This will only given them more flexibility with their list, at a time where I think they should be forced to suffer some consequence for the action of their own players. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN
The Chazz replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Posted this after one of the Maroochydore preseason training sessions - pretty satisfied with my "vibe" at present with regards to young Nibbler. Thought I'd include the last line of my training report from the same day. If you want this week's lotto numbers, just ask. -
I love the fact that we have someone that has kicked over 30 goals for the season, and we still have a handful of games to go. What I love more than the above is that we have 2 players that have kicked over 30 goals. Been a while since that's happened.

Best you take a trip up to Romsey - BBO will take that curiosity right out of you Rob.

What I love, and what is most noticeable week after week, is that the Melbourne listed players generally have high tackling numbers when playing at Casey. Even if they don 't get a lot of the ball, they are obviously putting in and working hard. JKH is a great example - low possession numbers, didn't have a huge impact according to the reviews, but laid 9 tackles. I'm not too concerned by players like Toumpas, Newton and Riley not getting much of a go at senior level this year. When they have, their shortcomings have been exposed, so they've been given time at Casey to work on these areas, and dare I say it, but actually develop before being expected to perform in the seniors. The end of season list changes are going to be intriguing.
