There's two issues here, Stuie, not just the one that you keep banging on about. I've addressed both at different times in my posts.

Who the hell has said this??? There's a difference between doing your job by asking a drunk patron to quieten down, and targeting a drunk patron with obvious issues. As I said, none of us know which category this lass falls under, but either way, I hope she and her management have learnt some valuable lessons moving forward.

Stuie, it shows about 5 seconds of an event that would have gone on for minutes. You don't know how she originally approached him. To be honest, I thought you must have seen footage of him hitting the wall, or had chopstick in hand, such was your assurance of fact. Any type of violent act, be it toward the same sex, or especially between man and woman, is a very serious matter. However, you need to relax a little on this particular issue as you, like me and the rest of the posters on here, don't know the entire story, and it's clearly not as black and white as you are making it.

Thanks for posting Stuie - I asked and I received. That said, it is pathetic footage, doesn't really show anything, and I don't think you can use this as part of your argument on here (I agree with most of your points, BTW). Those suggesting that the woman shouldn't have confronted Martin, well, it is part of their job to do that. Such is the life of a worker in this type of industry. She clearly believed that she could handle the initial situation (ie approaching a drunk patron), and I'd expect most females and males to not have any concerns doing this. If it then got out of hand, then I'd expect management would've been straight on to it, with the next action being police involvement. If she did it to try and set him off/antagonise him, then more fool her. But, in no way am I suggesting that she got what she deserved, or that Martin's behaviour was appropriate. We may never know the true story (from her side of things), but we've learnt (or had it confirmed) that Martin is a grub. I'd like to think the woman, and the venue's management, have learnt a very valuable lesson from this. I'd also like to think that Marti will get an appropriate sanction.

BBO, I actually know her old man. I'm more than happy to put in a good word for you if you wish? In all seriousness, if you can get a poster of Tayla, I'm happy to get her to sign it. FWIW - he is an absolute gentleman and a scholar, was still running around having a kick himself in 2015. Has nothing but glowing reports of everyone at the MFC, from admin staff to players. Did mention that Howe was a fantastic bloke, but other than that he speaks a lot of sense.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
The Chazz replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
In response to... a) Yes, I'm sick of not playing finals, hence my annoyance that we are still getting excited about top picks b) We did actually trade up to pick 3, so we are making progress c) I would not be picking any of this year's draft picks in our top 25 The fact we haven't played finals for 10 years, yet we are still relying on this year's top draft pick to help take us there, probably proves my point. I'm over the amount of years it's taking us to build through the draft. All due respect to Clayton Oliver but we should've had our "top draft pick" fill 2 years ago minimum. I don't apologise for my patience wearing thin. -

Here's a tip Billy, Hawthorn and Geelong see action in September because of what they did in November many years ago. I know that Clint. I'm hoping that what we did in November of 2012/13/14 is what will cause our premiership tilt. The fact that some are STILL interested in our drafting is basically admitting we still have that "saviour" mentality. We should have enough young talent on our list by now (prior to this year's draft) to be looking not too distant in the future for success. That said, the FD obviously believe that we still needed top end talent from this year's draft before we can stop relying on the pointy end of the draft. This is proven by trading our 1st round pick from next year away. Perhaps next year others will stop obsessing about our draft picks. -

Haven't read many of the posts on this thread, but this year's draft selections have left me quite uninspired. Not sure why, maybe the talk of it being a shallow draft, and in Oliver's case, that he was deemed a bolter by some people. To be honest, I think I'm just over frothing about high draft picks, and just want us to bloody win games of footy. I work with Hawthorn and Geelong supporters - for the past decade they have no idea who their teams have drafted, their real season starts in the following March, and generally concludes late September. It's generally the only time they take interest in footy. We have become far to obsessed with the silly season that takes place at draft time. I know it's not as black and white as that, but I can't help feeling a bit "Meh" about our picks this year. Sorry! -
I was going to say JKH, to see if he can consolidate a spot in our best 22. But I've changed my mind, and think 2016 is going to be a big year for... Max Gawn. Many would consider 2015 a break out year for Maxy, but I'm not sold yet. He showed he has the ability to play at the top level at various stages, but now I want to see him do it for 22+ games in a season. I want to be assured that he has the desire to not be out of place if mentioned in the same breath as Goldstein. I want him to prove that he has both feet heavily planted on the ground, and is willing to make any personal sacrifice to give himself the best opportunity to be one of the best rucks in the league. 2016 will show me if Max is content with being the number 1 ruck at Melbourne, or if he has the drive to be the best in the league. It's over to you, Max.

**IMPORTANT** USERNAMES V. DISPLAY NAMES **PLEASE READ**
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would be fun to have "username" activated, just for a couple of days, so that we can see who is who. Then flick it back to display name so that we can update our "ignore" list. -
I personally spoke to one of our Assistant Coaches at the start of the year, and he specifically said that Frost will end up being a full back. The fact he played ruck/forward in the limited games this year was more due to our need for a quick fix in this area, as opposed to it being a long-term thing. It also helped that our key defenders, McDonald and Dunn, were performing quite well in the early part of the season (before Frost went down). There would be a hope/expectation that King comes on and can play that forward/ruck role. If he does, which should be within the next 12-24 months, then Frost will be straight back to defence, especially with Dunn getting closer to the end.

I'm yet to speak to a Carlton supporter who isn't filthy about us picking up their 'Jeffy'. It's fantastic.

Said Parish, but also said Toumpas. However, I think I'm more confident on this one as he is, by all reports, the clear best midfielder in the draft, and has speed (both of which we could do with more of).
-
He's certainly going to leave a 'Mark' on the place...

Where is the Scottish influence on our family tree? If we are going all CBD, maybe we could get some busker each week, or some of those graffiti artists channelling Run DMC or the Beastie Boys, or that homeless bloke playing a harmonica? The possibilities are endless.

Think it would be in Gus' best interest to use any alternative methods possible to "pull in the chicks". Don't think looks alone will seal the deal...
-
Said it at the time if a different thread, but will say it again. This photo would be so much better if that dick Howe wasn't in it. Can someone photo shop the plick out of it so I don't vomit when I see it? I remember watching them carry Crossy off and straight away noticed Gus carry the little bloke off. Very special moment, and one that was caused by a first year kid.

I'm told they started this cricket game at 10am, Hogan won the toss and elected to bat. Much to the frustration of the others, he was still there at stumps. There's NOTHING he's not good at.

Anyone consulted the bugler to make sure he can accommodate any changes?

You would say that he has been perfectly developed. Imagine if could've got it "right" like this around 6 years ago? Surprise packet for mine - ANB.

I'm amazed that members of the "Boycott the Northern Territory Deal" club haven't been more vocal in this thread.

Training - Monday 9th November, 2015
The Chazz replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think what I like about the photos that I have seen is that a number of the players in them have already proven that they can make an impact at senior level. Not a "Gysberts come in for 2 high possession games" impact, but a "Viney locking down Joel Selwood" type impact. Other than Viney, Salem has proven he has what it takes. Tyson is my favourite player, so he only needs to fart on a footy field and I think he's fabulous. AvB should only improve. TMc is one of the best defenders in the league. Hogan, well, enough said. Brayshaw, ANB and Stretch have all shown they have the tools that, with the right development, can see them easily best 18. Not only that, while they are only boys, they look like young men. And our "better" players aren't even back yet! Frigging hell, off I go back to the confessional thread.
