  1. I prefer the old draft format, this one drags too much.
  2. I'm happy he landed at Essendon. There appeared to be too much hype without substance about Darcy, glad it's their gamble.
  3. Weideman and Hogan in the same forward line, this is going to be awesome!
  4. I wasn't a fan of Demetriou during his time but this is certainly the gift that keeps giving. PJ is the goods, I'm more than happy to see him extend contracts for as long as he wants.
  5. Weideman at 3 and Oliver (or best mid available) at 7 sounds fantastic. I've got bad memories of "bruise-free football" and Jack Watts is still on the list.
  6. I rate Knightmare's draft work probably higher than anyone else's and he has Parish at 14 in the power rankings. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2015-draft-almanac.1091303/
  7. I'm still amazed by the Geelong recruitment of Mark Blicavs in similar fashion and how much he evolved. Would love for Smith to become our Blicavs.
  8. There appears to be an exceptional strike-rate with pick 7 in the past decade: 2014: Paul Ahern (GWS) 2013: James Aish (Brisbane) 2012: Oliver Wines (Port Adelaide) 2011: Nick Haynes (GWS) 2010: Josh Caddy (Gold Coast) 2009: Brad Sheppard (West Coast) 2008: Daniel Rich (Brisbane) 2007: Rhys Palmer (Fremantle) 2006: Joel Selwood (Geelong) 2005: Patrick Ryder (Essendon) 2004: Jordan Lewis (Hawthorn) - And David Hale/Andrew Mackie prior to that. - And MFC has never used pick 7 in an AFL draft. - And last time we exchanged 1st round picks with GWS we drafted Salem. I've got a very good feeling about this one.
  9. Eddie quitting and the equalisation proposals going ahead- sounds like a win/win to me.
  10. I'd like to see PJ step it up from signing a year at a time but still very happy he has done so, he's definitely the man for the job.
  11. You're comparing Neeld to Roos. Neeld to Roos. Maybe what was tried with Watts back then didn't work but it's not like it was in isolation, practically everything tried during that period didn't work and set the club back further. Being named sub is far more generous than out-right dropping the player. Coming off the back of a 7 disposal/0 goal effort, Jack should be thankful for that.
  12. Free dip in FA maybe but certainly wouldn't want to negotiate a trade with Carlton for him.
  13. Ollie Wines (round 1, 2013-present) and Brodie Grundy (round 1, 2013-present) > Jesse Hogan (round 1, 2015-present). Add Dawes (and Barry) into the equasion if you want but considerable overs were still paid.
  14. Steak-knives in the Hogan deal. As good as Hogan is, we basically gave up Wines and Grundy for him and Barry. I love Hogan, I'm a big fan of getting him on the list but that trade I'm still not sold on. It's a prime example of the incompetencies at the trade table and in recruiting during the Neeld error (era).
  15. He's a gun selection, looking forward to a few more of them over the years. The rookie draft has been a resource this club has considerably mishandled for many years. Does the credit go to Jason Taylor?
  16. Huge loss, there isn't a replacement on the list for what Kent has been bringing.
  17. Him going to Freo was one of those things where I really became indifferent about him as an AFL player but was extremely interested to see what would happen to him landing on a list like that. I'm surprised it played out as negatively as it did and I really have to credit how well the people handling contracts at the club are doing. There's not much to fault (if anything) as far as list changes are concerned since Jackson, Roos and co. signed on.
  18. I could care less. Sure the departure was lousy and considerably dodgy, but at the end of the day he didn't want to be here and that's as good enough of a reason as any for someone to move on. I certainly don't want anyone on the list who isn't willing to give it their all for this club. The past is the past- the present and future is far more interesting.
  19. "Players are not pieces of property to be traded or sold" AFLPA CEO Paul Marsh I found this humurous, what is this guy's perspective of the draft? Or is that their next mission? The AFL really needs to start taking the power back on behalf of the clubs and on behalf of this competition being somewhere close to even.
  20. I was disappointed to find out the news but that's nothing compared to what the kid in question would've gone through. I don't think a lot of focus should be put on bottom-aged draftees, if they deliver in year one then that's awesome but it's really not something that should ever be expected of them. That sort of judgement should be reserved for the FA's and the players traded in at an age/experience where an immediate impact is to be expected.
  21. Obviously they are yet to play a game at their new clubs but all 3 have been around more than long enough to evaluate their worth at AFL level and what they are likely to produce. Collingwood lost big-time on the deal, couldn't happen to a better club.
  22. Lumumba > Clark and his injuries > Varcoe.
  23. It stopped being disappointing the moment he landed at Fremantle. We won big time on this. As a result Bernie came and he brought.
