  1. 200 games at AFL level is a great achievement, I'd expect Lumumba to be the focal point of the round 1 banner.
  2. This thing is beyond a joke. Essendon did the wrong thing, they were caught and admitted to it but because the evidence of the particulars isn't concrete- this thing keeps going and will likely continue to gradually play on until they are in a position to walk away scot-free. Cronulla in the same position fought it, then eventually conceded for considerably reduced penalties (which were also offered to Essendon) and now the Sharks, NRL and ASADA have moved on from the issue. That's the way it should've also played out here. FFS Essendon put the wallet away and accept the consequences.
  3. DANGER DEMON An article on the backpage of the Herald Sun a day after the 2015 FA period begins about the MFC recruitment of Patrick Dangerfield.
  4. A free-hit in terms of spots on the list. The next part which you didn't bold was a fair part of it, someone willing to train as hard as Cross and put in all the extra miles is the type of candidate that would be suitable. On top of having the natural talent to get recruiters interested. It might take some time to recruit someone who fits that criteria but it'd be well worth the punt whenever an option like that is available (regardless of where the club is at).
  5. I liked hearing about the club putting in a long-term effort to recruit Sam Frost. If the whispers are true then I'm very happy to see the same happening with Zak. I don't know a lot about him but I've liked what I've seen of him at AFL level and with the Sydney trading restrictions it certainly provides the potential for a generous trade.
  6. The fixture will always revolve around money and as such will never be uncompromised. The best thing the club can do is win more games, become more attractive to supporters and sponsors and keep ticking the right boxes. PJ is well aware of this and from everything I've seen, he is doing his utmost to put us in the very best position possible to achieve that.
  7. It's a nothing article. Neeld is happy to have another job at AFL level and sing the praises of the club that signed him and Craig is happy to endorse a mate. Neeld's appointment at Essendon was announced months ago, no news here.
  8. An 18 year old Brayshaw or a 26 year old Frawley? It certainly looks to me like this one fell in our favour.
  9. Anyone capable of 45 possessions at AFL level is very far from being a 'complete flop'.
  10. And Zach Tuohy. I'm all for recruiting international player prospects as they're outside of the list and basically a free-hit. But only if they are the right candidate (attitude/workrate/application/etc) and I think that's the key, identifying a guy who is willing to do everything possible to not only make it but to keep stepping it up when he gets there. Pearce Hanley is a deadset gun and closing in on becoming one of the best mids in the game, I'll be keeping an eye on how his younger brother Cian turns out.
  11. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-12-03/vandenbergs-form-hard-to-ignore-taylor Being compared by the club to Anthony Miles, on top of the 56-possession thing, certainly appears to be a punt well worth taking.
  12. From Inside Football: "Alex is probably the pick of our bunch at Glenelg. Played half a dozen senior games as an inside midfielder after having an outstanding carnival and I was surprised he didn't get All Australian. I'd expect him to go in the first 25 picks. He's a bit Pendlebury-like because he's not blessed with pace but his ability to get out of traffic and use the ball is outstanding. Had 25 possessions in one game at senior level and is just a great character kid in terms of maturity." - Glenelg football manager Matt Lokan
  13. Getting Neal-Bullen at 40 comes across as being a reverse-Gysberts and Oscar not only still being available at 53 but actually selected is a fantastic result. Petracca and Brayshaw always looked to be the best combination of the 'big 3', as far as I could tell anyway. I can't see how the draft could've played out any better than what it did.
  14. I think the depth of the senior list these days makes the Trengove rookie elevation a low priority. It's not as if you're required to play senior footy because you've been elevated, whoever it is will start at the back of pecking order.
  15. It's time for a 17 team competition. ASADA, do your thing.
  16. Always renew the membership, downgrade if you have to but always renew.
  17. And how big of a 'spud' was Neville last year? In your opinion of course, for perspective sake.
  18. I'd take Leroy Jetta over Nahas.
  19. This list for the most-part is incredibly slow. Smith has pace and uses it, that's what attracted my interest. Along with considerable years in the system retaining his spot at WCE. Obviously it's very easy to pick faults in a player that's just been delisted. I'm sure you would've also had a lot of negative output on Matty Spangher when he was delisted.
  20. Is it worth mentioning Jeff is easily the 'highest goal-kicker at AFL level' on the list? Top 5... Garlett: 183 Dawes: 115 Dunn: 95 Vince: 93 Jones: 83
  21. Tapscott getting dropped the day before the next delisted FA period begins leads me to believe the club has somebody lined up for that spot on the senior list.
  22. Pick 23 became Frost, pick 40 and pick 53. Had we not made the Frost trade it would've been pick 23 and pick 83 (without Sam). Kind of rich to imply some sort of error occurred here.
  23. It appears to be considerably improved. Garlett for Byrnes. Lumumba for however many games big Mitch manages to get on the park. A 21 year old Frost for Frawley. Picks 2 and 3 can only solidify the situation.
  24. This one really surprised me. Pelchen has the runs on the board and St Kilda appears to be doing everything right building for the future. Why separate now?
